[It's true there's something welcoming about an impersonal communication via text — in particular, Kaworu finds it to be a relief when he's able to openly express a feeling like uncertainty or discomfort. He doesn't have trouble with repressing himself, and smiling is second nature, but he's grown thankful for the ease that comes with experiencing emotions in relative private. Even in the ruins of NERV HQ, nefarious men or tattletale blanks could be lurking anywhere... There's still cause to be cautious, with whatever Atroma's doing or televising, but like this, alone in a room, Kaworu can let himself pause or fumble.

Not that he's trying to hide much right now, but Asuka frankly makes him nervous, so at least this way, it shouldn't be obvious when he's having trouble navigating the conversation. (In that case, why even answer? It could be anything from his try-hard habits to his gluttony for punishment.)]
