[Action] Going Calling
Who: Tyrion
Broadcast: N.O.P.E
Action: Tyrion's making his way around the Fleet. Hi Friends.
When: First week of August
Having an engineering augment had seriously helped him with the ability to have some breathing space on the rather overly metal surfaces of the First Breath. Not that he didn't love his ship - honestly he spent as much time there chatting up Lily and Hawke as he did sleep.
Let's face it, Tyrion wasn't much for sleeping. So when he wasn't working on the Engineering of the ship (hour or two, tops), or his own projects (four to five depending on how late he stayed up), then managing the bar (eight hours), he still had time on his hands. So he would take that shuttle, and head out into the deep dark (don't think about it, do not even think about not having air), to visit.
If you are expecting a handsome - well at least charming - dwarf, do feel free to open your airlocks. No worries, he can break in if necessary.

Ah, so he was here about Winn. He was surprised - he wasn't aware the two of them were quite so close, but Winn was naturally friendly and even more outgoing than Kirk so maybe it shouldn't have been so surprising.
"The kind that kidnap us from our homes and operate on us without our consent?" Kirk pointed out. "Putting people to sleep is really the lesser of their crimes at the moment. But from what I've heard Winn should wake up after to long. It's happened to quite a few before."

Case in point. "I certainly hope so. Kitty is half out of her mind and I worry about what will happen with the rest of his friends."
no subject
Well, Kitty would be. In his opinion, she was rightly in love with Winn after what felt like to short a time, but who was he to judge such things? He knew - well, was pretty sure of - Winn being equally in love. If the two were happy, then there was no harm, though it meant his ship was tight on space from time to time when she chose to stay over.
"Hopefully take turns coming on my ship," he said, hiding his own concern. "His room can only hold so many people at once." He was the captain, he wasn't allowed to be going crazy with worry. He was the strong one, he had to be, and he would do so now so others could better worry than him. Besides, there was nothing to do, was there? Just to wait, and to watch.

"Some things are just a bit to much to hope for, I think," he shook his head sadly, closing the book he had been reading and instead pulling forward his tri-dimensional chess set. "How about a game?"
no subject
He tipped his head, then nodded. "All right, here we go."
no subject
"And how's that going for you?" He asked with an arched brow, recalling previous conversations and how, well, unhappy Tyrion seemed about the situation in his home. Adding more to the fire here seemed unhealthy at best.
Kirk set the pieces back in their starting points and as a matter of courtesy look gold, which was considered the black set, and let Tyiron go first with silver.

Tyrion eyed the board, and shifted his pieces silver piece, gaze thoughtful.

Kirk shifted his own piece after a quick second of thought. This was his favorite game, after all, so he was comfortable with quick decisions, especially early on.
"How exactly do you see this vengeance taking place?" He asked curiously, leaning back in his chair.
no subject
"Calmly. Coldly. With great satisfaction as I watch my enemies lives crumble beneath their feet as I take from them what they ripped from me."
no subject
"And then? What happens when you achieve that?" he asked, making a move and taking one of Tyrion's pieces with equal viciousness.

Kirk tilted his head at Tyrion, a flicker of sympathy, pity, and concern in his eyes - and, ultimately, sadness. He moved his piece, continuing with his aggressive tact and taking Tyrion's.
"You're a better man than me. Just the thought of one child terrifies me, let alone a dozen."

This time Jim is quick, countering with his own check and setting them back on equal footing. It was shaping up to be a good match, even over their conversation.
"I wouldn't say having children is selfish," he said with a curious slant his way. "I admire people who want children and can be good parents to them. The selfish thing is producing them and then not taking responsibility for them. But, you're right, maybe in a way it is selfish, but I think it's the forgivable kind."

"I think we are both okay men, who want to keep doing good, even though sometimes we make bad choices. But that's being human, isn't it?" he said, recognizing the tactic shift. It takes a few seconds of thought and he comes in, still maintaining his previous aggressive assault, only a little differently this time.

"Yes, I suppose that's true," he chuckled, moving his piece forward, but instead of charging in, he went a touch sideways. Going straight through the center would see him dead and he knew it. This would be a tight game, and he thought he might win, but he would not be surprised if Tyrion snatched it from him at the end. He seemed that kind of canny.
no subject
Oh. My. He might have to. "I suppose it is, at that."

Jim never made anything easy, least of all for someone like Tyrion, whom he knew was intelligent enough to grab the game quickly and be a threat. Besides, it wasn't a challenge if he went easy on him and never did like doing the expected.
"You're sure this is your first time playing this game, Tyrion?"
no subject
"Chess, no. Three-dimensional chess? Absolutely. The rules seem to be the same ... for the most part."
no subject
"For the most part," he agreed, and abruptly changed his tactic, come in from an exploitative direction using the 3D aspect of the board. "Check."

"I'm sure it's something you could pick up fairly quickly," he said with confidence, even as he pressed his assault, taking back the check.
