[ some of you may have noticed that winn has been uncharacteristically quiet for the past...16 days. he's not really sure how to address the elephant in the room - he knows these two weeks and change have been hard on the people he loves but for him it's like no time has passed and the dissonance is hard to bridge.

it's a good thing he has a not at all unhealthy coping mechanism set in place. ]

You know, if we're entertainment on a reality show, the least they can do is give us like a recap - you know your basic [ in a tv announcer impression ] here's what you missed on the Fleet - or - last week, on the young and the Drifting - [ he rubs the back of his head before shaking it ] Well, maybe talking about the 'least they can do' isn't such a great plan...first order of business - what'd I miss? Second order of business - if you or anyone you know has ever fallen into an unexplained sleep here or at any other kidnappy world - I'd appreciate it if you'd answer a couple questions, they're a text attachment at the bottom. Sorry if it's been done before, I'll gladly take a link to any previous research as well as fresh data. Third order of business -- hi. [ he gives the camera a little wave and a nervous chuckle ] Um. Yeah, I'm, I'm fine, I should've opened with that but if you know me the order isn't really gonna surprise you that much and if you don't you're probably really confused right now and looking for the off button - it's to your right, right on top, there you go.

[ there is a gasp of delight, here. Margaery's hair is braided in the manner one katniss everdeen had taught her, the strikes of bright blue fading away to brown. She carries the same joie de vivre but it is mellow today. for once, she might seem a bit tired. ]

Gods be good, I prayed each day.

[ and they had listened, it would seem ]

You look well.

[ she gets a warm and slightly concerned smile at that tired look on her face. ]

I'm just fine, thank you. Sorry I gave you a scare.

It is alright.

[ if she were to be truly honest, she was slightly terrified. the number of people Margaery Tyrell trusts on the fleet is very small and all of them are precious, each one important to her here as her own house would have been in Westeros. She has no family here, after all. ]

I visited.

[ a little smile ]

Though the flowers I brought would have dried by now.

It's ok, we can use them for our crafts.

[ he opens up one of his notebooks, to show her the dried flowers secure inside ]

Thank you, I really appreciate it. You're more than welcome to come over if you want - if not I'll be by the Windrose in a couple days, my body's just taking its sweet time adjusting to moving around again so I'm gonna take it easy for a little while.

[ on the moving around front. on the research front, he's at full speed ahead. ]

Of course.

[ she smiles a little at the sight of the flowers, kept safe within the papers as they are. he won't readily throw anything she had given him, she is well aware. ]

It would please me. Do you need anything at all? we still have fruit from the planet.

[ she's incredibly precious to him, he won't readily part with anything that reminds him of her. ]

I'm well fed for now, all I need is your company.

I shall be there shortly, then.

[ she takes only a few moments to tidy her braid, pinch her cheeks so they are pink again and tidy the green silks of her gown. she will not worry him, not without necessity. She has a little bag with her, in pale green with a small embroidery of a flower. the bag she bought on the planet, the flower she added on herself.

when she is allowed into his room, the zest of life seemed to have returned at full force or at least, it is what she attempts to do and is quite successful at it, being as practiced as she is ]

I do not reckon I shall ever be quite accustomed to this mean of travel, it is so odd but it is very efficient. In my realm, it takes days and weeks to reach anywhere and riding can be so tiring after a few days, I find.

[ he's tired; being up and around, thinking hard, seeing so many people and reassuring them (emotionally and physically in the case of his girlfriend) is exhausting under normal circumstances, but these aren't normal circumstances. his body is still recovering from being completely immobile for over two weeks, his limbs feel stiff and weak, and it's already been a long day. but she would have to look hard to spot any of it when he opens the door because his face is pure happiness to see her.

gesturing for her to come on in, he smiles as he listens to her and shuts the door behind her. ]

I'm not the shuttle's number one fans, but I'll take them over weeks of travel any day. It's so good to see you - thanks for coming. Have a seat - make yourself at home - do you want something to drink?

I'm quite alright.

[ she knows this, this reassuring air. she is doing the same thing. perhaps they are both attempting to put each other at ease and she bites back a smile at that. she takes a seat, tidies her skirts around her ankles ]

I have something for you, I made it with the intent to give it to you when you are returned to us, Kara has helped me tremendously.

[ she reaches into her bag and pulls two little simply wrapped parcels and hands it to him. they're two decks of cards, it would seem, hand drawn. one of them is quite modern, the other less so ]

We drew them together. these are quite alike the ones we use in my realm. I thought - when you are feeling better, it might help - having something to play with.

[ he takes the parcels and looks at each card in turn as if it's a masterpiece because to him - it is. this is something two of his most important people in the multiverse made especially for him. it's thoughtful, and sweet, and the sort of thing he's done his whole life for other people but other people didn't bother to do for him. ]

They're amazing, Margaery - you drew these? They look incredible - thank you. [ something in his voice cracks a little, like he can't quite believe they did this for him. ever since he woke up he's been hit with so much love and consideration, and he's not really sure how to handle any of it - but he's grateful for every scrap. ]

You'll have to teach me how to play - [ he knows what to do with the modern pack but the other one is a bit more of a mystery. he sits next to her, smiling with endless affection. ]

Painting has never been quite my specialty.

[ they look a little rough around the edges, not perfectly symmetrical but there is evident thought behind these, despite their amateurish appearance. ]

But I have tried to follow Kara's example.

[ she smiles and nods, evidently pleased. she is accustomed to being able to give grander gifts but this will have to do for now. ]

Of course. I am quite good at it, one of my cousins always won against me but I have a feeling she was hiding a few up the sleeve of her gown.

[ every imperfection is a sign of her affection for him - her insistence to do this herself - for him. to him, that makes them pretty damn perfect.

he laughs ]

Well, I have short sleeves.

[ so clearly that makes him trustworthy (he's a cheating cheater who cheats, but only when the other person doesn't take the game seriously and will laugh it off, or is a jerk). ]

I shall never suspect you to be anything less than honest, that girl was something quite else. in all truth, she was a bit of a fright. very charming, however and lovely, she has the most beautiful eyes.

[ she's all smiles as she looks at the cards ]

I shall teach you how we play and in return, I should like to know how to play with those cards.

Charming, lovely, and dangerous? The new words of your house?

[ he smiles right back. ]

You got yourself a deal.

I do think 'growing strong' is a little less telling. The other traits may need to remain a bit of a surprise.

[ a tiny grin. it's her grandmother's teaching in a nutshell, a dangerously sharp mind hidden behind a fair and bubbly exterior is the most dangerous of them all. there is less need for such politics here but she strives to remember it all just the same. ]

Otherwise others will begin to think of us as a bore.

Anyone who can find you boring either has no idea what the word means -- or should get immediate medical attention cuz his brain's about to blow.

That's terrible.

[ she chuckles, still. By now, working med bay as much as she has, she knows basic anatomy to know what and where the brain is so the joke is not lost on her entirely. ]

Have you slept so long that you had no gift from the tree? many received gifts, they say some of house Stark now have their direwovles companions.

[ she'd asked Sansa about her own but she has never seen the girl with a direwolf, not even in King's Landing. ]

Oh I got a great one - here -

[ he pulls out his cellphone, and turns it on, opening the photo gallery. there are a lot of reasons why he loves this gift - but that's the one he thinks most people would understand. scrolling through, there are pictures of kara, some group pictures with james or alex, some scenic views of national city, a lot of tech, a lot of half-made costumes, a lot of selfies in the completed products, comicon pictures, some food, and so on. ]

That's Kara's sister, Alex, and this is our friend James -

[ he lets her scroll through. he makes a lot of silly faces in some selfies or with kara. ]

...wait, what do you mean by direwolves?

[ belatedly sinking in - that doesn't sound like a cuddly pet. ]

This is James?

[ she pauses, tilts her head and scrunches her nose ]

I thought him much more handsome.

[ goodness gracious, kara. your taste in men. why doesn't he have hair? ]

-- great beasts with terrible temper and sharp teeth.

[ ...a moment later and she chuckles ]

They are wolves of a kind, so the story tell, not very large here, so I've heard and loyal to a fault to their Stark companions.

[ she's telling him about wolves on a spaceship, but all he can focus on is that she doesn't find james to be the epitome of manliness and attractiveness. sure, he loses some of his appeal on paper because she's not exposed to his massive frame but still - the guy is ridiculously photogenic. ]

...seriously?

-- Is it very common for young men to go about entirely without hair in your world?

[ it's just unthinkable. One of Loras' finest trait is his hair. She gives the picture another look ]

I find it very odd. I do not think I would care to marry a man with no hair at such a young age.

[ oh, it's because she's unused to the hair. yeah, that makes more sense. ]

Yeah, it's a style. Guess it just takes getting used to.

Truly? The most infamous men in my realm without a hair to his name is the Master of Whispers at King's Landing, lord Varys and he is a eunuch.

[ and just because she senses a slight mislike there - ]

are you certain your friend is not one?

[ it's a good thing they're not eating or drinking because he's choking on air here. much as he's better with james now, he still has issues with the guy, petty jealous issues, and margaery is bringing those feelings a whole lot of joy right now. ]

I, I'm pretty sure, yeah. He's just bald, lots of people are, in my world.

[ in a final sort of judgement. ]

I sincerely hope you do not plan of shedding your hair. I would be greatly displeased.
