[ some of you may have noticed that winn has been uncharacteristically quiet for the past...16 days. he's not really sure how to address the elephant in the room - he knows these two weeks and change have been hard on the people he loves but for him it's like no time has passed and the dissonance is hard to bridge.

it's a good thing he has a not at all unhealthy coping mechanism set in place. ]

You know, if we're entertainment on a reality show, the least they can do is give us like a recap - you know your basic [ in a tv announcer impression ] here's what you missed on the Fleet - or - last week, on the young and the Drifting - [ he rubs the back of his head before shaking it ] Well, maybe talking about the 'least they can do' isn't such a great plan...first order of business - what'd I miss? Second order of business - if you or anyone you know has ever fallen into an unexplained sleep here or at any other kidnappy world - I'd appreciate it if you'd answer a couple questions, they're a text attachment at the bottom. Sorry if it's been done before, I'll gladly take a link to any previous research as well as fresh data. Third order of business -- hi. [ he gives the camera a little wave and a nervous chuckle ] Um. You just caught by surprise, honestly, it's fine, I promise.

[ but he appreciates the concern. he still can't get used to how sensitive people are on this fleet to his feelings, his needs. ]

Yeah, and creation, analysis. It's...the closest example I can give is like...being a communications officer here. I handle the computers.

Alright - but tell me to stop if I make things uncomfortable, eh?

[ He nods, interested ] I see! And are the computers here very different from the ones you use?

It's a deal - and back atcha.

[ he nods with a smile. ]

Uh -- yes and no. Or, well, I'm not sure if the difference is in the computers cuz the interface is pretty similar - or in the way we perceive them. I can't do what I know I can do on these computers, but that could be because there's an implant in my head controlling data input.

[ He blinks ] The implants can do that? [ Can you hear his disdain for the thing in all their heads ] I suppose I should not be surprised - if they can give information, it makes sense they can control it, also.

Let me guess - you would normally be able to find a way to .... extract potentially useful information?

It's all theoretical I can't really test it you know, since that would require me going at it without one and I can't exactly take it out -- but yeah, pretty much.

[ A sigh ]

It makes sense, yes - they would want to remove such a potentially crippling skill. A pity! I must ask, however - in that scenario, would you be willing to teach me what you do know? The implants are....... helpful, but I feel things are sometimes better used if taught.

Whenever it suits, then - I imagine I will not be able to learn everything all at once!

Other than the lectures and Tuesday night sessions with a friend I don't keep a structured schedule, so I can usually make myself available.

And I, of course, have no fixed schedule save the times that are set aside for the lectures! So I suppose it will boil down to "whenever we are both bored"

[ it's funny, when he first arrived he thought he'd be bored out of his mind, people suggested he cook and do laundry for fun.

he hasn't gotten to be bored once yet. ]

Then I say come on over and join the party - people are coming in and out all day today, so I'm not sure how productive a lesson it'd be, but it'll cure your boredom.

Well, I have nothing to do at present, so I suppose I should do so.

[ since he hasn't been to winn's room yet, he waits for him at the cargo hold. ]

Hey - you made good time. Must've been really bored -

[ Maglor smiles as he disembarkes and shakes his head ]

You are being kind - I know I am a terrible pilot of these... things. [ He scowls a little at the shuttles ]

I am fortunate that the implants make it so I cannot get lost!

Trust me - it was good time for me.

[ see, he takes an extra few minutes to steel himself to get on those shuttles, unless there's an emergency going on. ]

Yeah, thank god for the implants. [ so dry. yeah, they probably save their lives in a million different ways each day, but they also endanger them, ruin them, control them. ]

So, you want the grand tour of the Tourist?

Indeed. [ Maglor is equally dry, but he brightens at the suggestion ]

Alright well - this is the cargo hold, it's pretty boring so, let's move on. Do you know anyone else on the ship?

Hm, only your captain, I think - James Kirk, yes? He is a good Man, and has been kind to me.

[ Maglor chuckles at the note about the cargo hold, and follows Winn ]

Yeah. [ he nods ] He's one of the best.

[ his affection and admiration for his captain are completely obvious. jim has won him over completely, he would follow his captain into the mouth of hell (complaining the whole way, but he'll still go!). ]

I can show you his room, if you wanna say hi while you're here. Anyway - to your right is a - wall - still a wall - there we go! The kitchen. Can I offer you some refreshments?

[ Maglor smiles and shakes his head ]

Only if he is not busy, eh? I do not want to impose. [ A chuckle greets the offer ]

Hm, well, vaguely tea tasting water is better than nothing, I suppose. [ Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay the food machinges B[ ]

Space coffee's starting to grow on me, personally. But that might be my taste buds dying.
