[ some of you may have noticed that winn has been uncharacteristically quiet for the past...16 days. he's not really sure how to address the elephant in the room - he knows these two weeks and change have been hard on the people he loves but for him it's like no time has passed and the dissonance is hard to bridge.

it's a good thing he has a not at all unhealthy coping mechanism set in place. ]

You know, if we're entertainment on a reality show, the least they can do is give us like a recap - you know your basic [ in a tv announcer impression ] here's what you missed on the Fleet - or - last week, on the young and the Drifting - [ he rubs the back of his head before shaking it ] Well, maybe talking about the 'least they can do' isn't such a great plan...first order of business - what'd I miss? Second order of business - if you or anyone you know has ever fallen into an unexplained sleep here or at any other kidnappy world - I'd appreciate it if you'd answer a couple questions, they're a text attachment at the bottom. Sorry if it's been done before, I'll gladly take a link to any previous research as well as fresh data. Third order of business -- hi. [ he gives the camera a little wave and a nervous chuckle ] Um. [the closest he's come is wishing for people to remain dead, if only because there is literally no other option to dealing with them. And y'know, they're a villain]

Migraines, much better.

[and downing his own drink]

[ once they're gone they're gone. so long as, you know, they weren't murdered, winn's not going to lose sleep over a dead villain. ]

We improve each other. [ nodding ] I hate that we're here, but I'm glad we're here together. Er. You know what I mean. [ frowning a little and waving it off. ]

[neither is Hank, at least not that villain]

I know what you mean, you giant sap. [he says fondly, like he's not a giant sap himself]

Shut up, [ he shoves him lightly ] you're gonna miss me when we go home and you know it.

[beathach]

[he shoves back, just as lightly]

Of course I am. The only friends I have back home are the ones here with me now.

But it won't be for long - I'll figure out the world-hopping stuff, so help me.

[winn]

[ he feels a little pathetic saying 'mine too' because well, it's kara. that's it. but while he and james have been getting closer - there's still so much awkwardness in that relationship for it to feel like a friendship the way his relationships with people on the fleet feel. ]

Aww - [ gasping and putting a hand to his heart ] you'll cross the dimensional barrier for me. [ yeah, he's starting to get a little drunk can you tell? it's very subtle. ]

[in all honesty, when they go back, it'll just be him and Charles. But saying that out loud makes it sound more depressing than it really is.

And - yeah. Yeah, he can definitely see Winn's getting a little drunk]

[ if there's one person who'd get it, it's the dork sitting next to him. ]

If I'm a dork you're a dork, so I'd mind my word choices if I were you. Which...I kinda am.

Hey, I only call you names I would call myself. [so he is watching his word choice, thank you] Just how drunk are you right now?

[he asks, as he starts feeling the alcohol himself]

Only mildly, don't confuse 'awkward' with 'drunk'.

[beathach]

I know what drunk looks like. And sounds like.

[winn]

Is it like a duck? Cuz in that case, it's a duck.

[ yes, he's perfectly aware that that made no sense. ]

. . . yes, it's exactly like that.

[it sounds like he's trying not to laugh]

[ don't fight it, hank, laughter is his aim here. ]

It's cute you think I have to be drunk to make an idiot outta myself.

[ he's just gonna mumble it into his glass. ]

You do know that I can hear you mumble very clearly, right.

[but he gives in and laughs] I didn't know having a sense of humor was the same as making an idiot out of oneself.

That's not very nice listening to my mumbling -

[ he's not even a little upset. shrugging. ]

All depends on who you ask, and what mood they're in when you do.

Don't worry, I'll continue to pretend like I don't hear it. Most of the time.

[he can't help it ok you don't just turn off enhanced hearing]

Well, it's just us. So, it's having a sense of humor.

You're forgetting who my best friend is.

[ you don't have to pretend, he assumes any words that exist outside his head are being heard. ]

I definitely don't need to be drunk for that -

[beathach]

I'm not forgetting.

[mostly because he figures Kara does the same thing]

No, you don't. But you're definitely drunk.

Please, if I was definitely drunk I wouldn't be nearly this coherent. I wouldn't be able to pronounce coherent. Or, 'pronounce', for that matter.

[beathach]

Oh, you're that kind of drunk, huh.

[winn]

I am many kinds of drunk, don't try to label me. Right now, though, I'm just buzzed.

[beathach]

Mmhmm. [he glances down into his drink, then just finishes it off] You know, the last time I got - well, almost drunk was after a serious discussion, too. It seems to be turning into a theme.

[winn]

Yeah.

[ he looks at his glass and in an uncharacteristically somber moment continues ] I should probably be concerned about the amount of everything sucks drinking I do.

[ he downs the content of his glass all the same. ]

The last drink I had before coming here was years ago. I stopped drinking at all because - [someone had to stay sober in the mansion] - I stopped going out. Now? [he gestures between them] Usually I'm drinking with someone else.
