[ The video feed shakes, the audio cracking as the communicator is moved around. The broadcasting image so far is the floor, covered in multicolored confetti, and a pair of black and grey running sneakers in view. The left foot taps impatiently before the video swings again to the bridge of the Bloodsport. ]

[ There is a sigh before heavily accented voice accompanies the shoddy cameraman-ship. ] If this is someone's idea of a prank, it lacks humor.

[ The communicator finally turns around, and Pietro is very firmly not happy with this situation. ]

I have complaints.

[ Pietro can be found in various places throughout the Bloodsport. In the kitchen, trying to figure out what the deal with protein paste is. The bridge offers a bit of a distraction with the endless sea of stars or the array of broadcast settings, and how can he resist settling into the bunks? It's been a very long time since he's had his own room. ]

[ He's in the process of mixing banana solid and peanut butter gel together in a cup when she comes in. He's in the experimental phase, though his expression becomes relieved at the news. ]

Do they remain well-stocked? [ He is a human garbage disposal, his metabolism is unfairly high. ]

Sadly, no. I restocked while we were on planet, because anything is better than that drivel. If we're lucky, it'll last us until we can buy more elsewhere. If not... [She makes a face and waves at the gel dispenser.]

You're Pietro, right? I'm Nami.

[ Pietro abandons the monstrosity in his cup, opting to rifle through the cupboards to take stock of what is available. ]

That is unfortunate news, but there will be another planet soon?

That's right. Nami.. Does that mean you are the captain?

That's right. [He'll find a range of fresh produce and pastries stored away... as well as a ridiculous amount of meat. That's Bigby's fault, not Nami's. Something about two supernatural carnivores on board, hooray.] Though that doesn't mean a great deal in the scheme of things.

And we usually make planetfall every... month or so? But there are waystations out in space with automated vending machines-- I'm not sure if you're familiar with what they are. I wasn't.

[ He's already eyeballing those pastries. It's not often Pietro indulges in his sweet tooth, so it might be too much temptation not to. He won't argue about the availability of meat, either. ]

I know about vending machines. Nothing but junk food in most of them. Certainly not good for fuel.

Nope. I hate them myself, but sometimes when it becomes a choice between the vending machines and goop, it's kind of a nice change.

What they give us doesn't look appetizing, I will definitely give you that much.

So what augment have you been given?

Engineering. Funny, since I have never had any sort of training. It should prove to be an interesting challenge.

I feel you there. I'm the pilot, but we don't even have.. planes? Where I come from. I'm a deep sea navigator, back home. It's an interesting learning curve, that's for sure.

A deep sea navigator sounds much more lucrative than this. Though, being in the stars is not the worst place to be?

Way more lucrative, given my occupation. [She grins.]

There's a lot of difference between navigating the sea and piloting in space, and I miss atmosphere most of all. But I'd be lying if I didn't say it was a fun challenge. I enjoy it.

In sea navigation, you use the stars to plot your journey, correct?

Yeah. Stars and a compass, pretty much, in most places. Space is different in that it adds an extra dimension and it's a lot... uh. Broader. [To understate it.]

Do we know the names of these stars as we pass? Or the constellations?

No. [She sighs.] Some of them have been given labels in the computer system-- letters and numbers that don't make sense in any context I know of.

You bring up an interesting point, though. I might ask the people we meet in the next planet visit if they have their own names.

Well, that's not entirely helpful, is it?

[ Without any real frame of reference as to where they are in the galaxy, they're essentially flying blind. ]

Without an-- ah! [ He snaps his fingers, pointing at Nami once he's gotten the word. ] frame of reference, how well can we expect to chart anything?

Not at all, which I imagine is their intention. [She makes a face.] But I'll work on it. You never know when something might click into place.

It is entirely possible in both situations.

Yeah. [She grins, though. Finger gun for you.] Thanks for the idea, though. I'm just very curious now.

I suppose it will reveal itself to us in time. I've heard these planetary locals don't know anything about this supposed show?

Nope. Not a single person I've ever met outside the Fleet has heard of us.

Of course not. Why would they? Clearly, intergalactic kidnapping is such an unheard of phenomenon, we must be tourists.

The problem is, even if the governments of this place could intercede, that'd... still kind of leave us high and dry in the middle of space with no sure way to get home.

So, the best thing to do until we figure out a plan is to play along.. [ He wrinkles his nose, shaking his head. ]
