September thing, after the fox park incident

[So the fox park is stressful for a multitude of depressing reasons.

That incident has been weighing in Renart's mind as she headed back to the Heron, switching to her human form. She doesn't feel bad for what she did, oh no. She saw the network post about it and proceeded to ignore that, because anyone who thinks she shouldn't be communicating to other foxes in the way foxes communicate to each other is a fool. It's silly how warped that woman's viewpoint of the whole situation is.

There's the whole matter of those foxes being domesticated and shoved into that 'park', too. It's left her a bundle of nerves, and she's decided to curl up in her room and obsessively brush her tail - her usual go-to when she's stressed - to calm down.]

[ Bucky lets Renart have some time to herself to cool off before interrupting. Of course he's been watching for her- especially after Wrath's broadcast and her messages after. This is the easier situation to resolve, at least..

He knocks on her door some time later. ]

Renart, can we talk?

[aigue]

[She'd like to assume it's Monty, but that isn't his voice, so there's several moments of silence before she finally climbs off her bed and opens the door, peering up at him.

Definitely not a fox right now, though her ears and tail are the same and there's no sign of actual human ears on her head. So... that's a thing.]

About what?

[She doesn't look like she's in a mood to be sociable.]

[ Well, that's certainly a new look..He didn't know she could do that., but they'll touch on that after. ]

I'd like to know what happened at the fox park.

[ Of course he heard from Wrath, but he's sure Renart sees it differently. Or is being irrational. That's what he's here to find out to alleviate the tension.

Either way, he's keeping an open mind about this. No one was badly hurt. ]

I'm sure you saw that communication.

[She leans against the door frame, wanting to see what he says to that. She's pretty used to having her opinion ignored or dismissed, so she isn't expecting much.]

I saw it, I talked to Wrath.

[ He looks down the hall briefly, then back to her. ]

Sometimes you can't see everything from one side of the story.

[aigue]

[She squints slightly, appraising him for several moments before moving away from the door and heading back towards the bed to sit. He's free to come in.]

It has nothing to do with you, so there's no point in bothering.

[ He lets her get settled before moving into her room and leaning against the wall by the door. ]

Wrath is my friend, and I'm your Captain. I'm involved. I'd like to hear from you before I make a judgement.

[She doesn't agree with that, but she isn't in the mood to argue with him.

Her room is still very basic. The only notable thing is that she's piled a bunch of blankets and pillows up in the middle of her bed to make a nest.]

I tried to communicate with a fox in the way foxes communicate with each other. She took offense I was treating him like an animal instead of her dress-up doll. That's it.

[Monty arrives after finding Wrath's message and trying to mitigate... then threatening the woman. Renart really is far too much trouble.]

Renart?

[He raps on the hatch to her room before just pulling it up and climbing down. The gentleman sighs when he sees her.]

You've had an eventful day. May I?

[He gestures to her tail and the bed as one as a request to sit. Some of the irritation at her has died down on seeing her like that, at least.]

[aigue]

[Well, that's a voice she doesn't mind hearing. She just shrugs at him, though once he's sat down she's immediately flopping across his lap and holding the comb out.]

A bad day.

[He takes the comb and starts brushing her tail gently.]

I saw Lt. Wrath's message about - [he wrinkles his nose] - Officer Snuggles. You really mustn't let that sort of thing get to you, you know? I did try to explain to her that's how foxes communicate, at least.

[She's glad she isn't the only one who finds that name distasteful.]

How did that go? I'm guessing she didn't listen, I tried to talk to her as well and she only threatened me.

She did not seem to accept it. [He sighs.] I told her that if it should come to blows, I would come to your aid by whatever means I had.

[Monty's brow furrows in confusion.] She said she intended to teach me how the chain of command works. Perhaps that was meant to be some manner of threat?

[.... Oh, Monty no.]

Please don't. I can handle her if she wants a fight.

[She is inwardly facepalming here. He just arrived, the last thing she wants is him getting hurt.]

Chain of command? I'm not sure. Maybe.

Don't start a fight and I shan't be duty bound to defend you.

[Is it manipulative? Entirely. Is it for her own good? Monty certainly thinks so.]

[Wow, no. Rude. So manipulative. She frowns at him.]

I wasn't starting a fight, and I have no desire to. She's the aggressive one.

Some time later....

[After he's had a chance to look at the situation from all points of view he has access to, the Vision makes his way over to the Heron to see if he can mediate the dispute a bit. He's aware it may not have any effect, but the least he can do is try.

He moves quietly and if her senses are still sharp in this form, he smells unlike a human - as much metal as flesh and blood, and the yellow gem set into his forehead is unlike anything else. When he speaks, it's with a cultured British accent.]

Excuse me. I'm looking for Renart?

[aigue]

[... Yep, definitely not human. She'd go with 'alien' but she honestly doesn't know enough about aliens to be able to make that call.

Either way she's suspicious. Who is this guy and why is he looking for her?]

[He inclines his head.]

I am the Vision, captain of the Windrose There was a disagreement with one of my crew, and I'd hoped to set the record straight.

[Another captain, fun. Renart looks him up and down, and just shakes her head.

Yep, not dealing with this.]

[And she turns to walk away.]

[Ah, so that's how it is. He exhales, and he'd probably roll his eyes but he's too polite. So when she turns to walk away, he follows. It's not so very hard to put two and two together; she looks awfully foxy.]

I'd prefer for there not to have to be a problem, actually. I'm willing to listen to your perspective.

[She sighs softly, slowing down.]

Are you? Or are you just saying that so I'll talk?

I'm fully aware that my first mate's perspective on events can be nonstandard to most others. Of course I'm willing to listen.
