[Rogue was in the kitchen, thrilled to be well enough to be doing her job, when there was an unexpected sponsor drop. It was little more than a shoe box, and to her shock - and dread - she saw it was addressed to her.

Well, it wasn’t going to just go away on its own, so she opened it up to find a selection of pink, sparkly, tiaras. And a note: We hope these help you celebrate your special day! Put one on and smile for the camera -- PP&Co.

You had to be kidding her. Rogue made a disgusted face and got back to work. She was trying to make a chocolate cake. Once she got the concoction in the oven, however, she took a picture of several of the tiaras and sent out a general text message:]

[Later on, she puts on a deceptively simple short dress and heads out to the Iskaulit -- twenty-five. Geeze. That definitely deserved a drink. She never thought she’d live this long.]

[The wry smile of a friend to a friend as she glanced over to him.] Ya heard 'bout that, huh? [Keep a thing a secret for years and one careless camera shot...]

Think all the Fleet heard 'bout that. [He pointed out with a light tone before going quiet for a moment.]

Sorry it got outed for ya. [Since clearly it sounded like it was something she would rather keep quiet.]

[Rogue shrugged.] I thought 'bout tryin' ta pass it off as an Atroma joke for a while, but I just didn't see the point anymore. [Things are so uncertain in these places anyway] Cat, bag; milk, spilled.

[She gave him a small smile, indicating that it was all right.]

[Having been drumming his fingers against the bar top, Remy paused at her smile, silently debating with himself before he spoke.] April 1st.

[Rogue blinked.]

Seriously? [He was born on April Fool's? That... was... She gave him a small, warm smile, appreciation of his confiding in her, before gently teasing.] That explains a lot.

[cajunspice]

[Remy just raised his brows and grinned over at her, a bright flash of teeth, before it settled into his normal smile,] Don't it just? [His fingers returning to their previous beat.] Was the day Jean-Luc pulled me off the streets.

[...oh. Quietly:] I didn't know that.

[She didn't know he'd spent time on the streets as a kid... she'd known he was adopted as well, but she hadn't known...] ...I picked the date too. August 8th. My [the barest hesitation] mama talked ta me 'bout it a few months after she adopted me.

[She'd only been four at the time, but she still remembered if a bit fuzzily. She remembered her (beautiful, kind, strong--) mother putting her up on her knee and telling her to pick her own birthday, since it was the start of a new life together and it was time to make some things their own.]

[Remy easily shrugged it off, giving a smile as his drink was brought over and offering a decent tip on top of the price of it.] Ah, it long gone Rogue, ain't 'mportant now. [It was too easy to dwell on such things, and Remy didn't do that. He just shoved them into that dark little corner of his mind and left them to fester.]

Oh yeah? [He smiled softly over at her, turning his glass slowly between his fingers as she revealed that, then lifted his glass towards her own.] Here's to bein' stuck with crappy parents, but at least we got to pick our birthdays, more or less?

[Long gone doesn't mean unimportant, was her automatic response to that. She took a sip of her drink, though, not wanting to prod him too much. After all, he'd come over here for her birthday, been nice enough not to make it loud...] ...long gone doesn't mean unimportant.

[...guess she just had to say it anyway. She turned more fully to face him and lifted her glass.] But I'll drink ta that.

[Remy smiled and let out a huff of a laugh at that.] Ain't 'portant to tonight, how 'bout that? [He then gently clinked their glasses together,] Happy birthday. [Then taking a drink from his.]

[It was good to have the company of a friend on her birthday, regardless of anything else. Life's little pleasures were the stepping stone of life.]

Thanks. [She took a sip of hers as well.] ...glad ya happened by.

Ya know, [His smile slipped more into it's normal grin.] I do want one of those tiara things ya got, preferable hot pink, maybe a heart on it, something real pretty.

[Rogue raised her eyebrows at him.] Yeah? What's the special occasion? Ya gonna need a dress ta match?

Who says I need a special occasion. Sometimes a homme just wanna feel pretty when he's goin' 'bout his day. [Hey, who knows when an item like that might come in handy, it's not like they run across those items just everyday on the Fleet.]

[touchofrogue]

...you are terrifyin'. [Matter of fact, shaking her head a little. Then she sighed.] I'll see what I can dig up.

[Because how was she going to turn that down, really?]

'm amazin', admit it. [Another flash of that grin to her before he took another sip from his drink, choosing to voice his real thoughts on it.] Ya never know when an item like that will come in handy, especially since not like can go down to the local mall 'nd pick one up now, be it? Add it to m' 'just in case' collection I got buildin' up.

[The raised eyebrows indicate that her opinion still ranges to: Terrifying.] What else have ya got in that collection?

Ahh, let's see. [This took a moment of thinking as Remy started listing off items, counting them off on his fingers as he did.] Got a glitter bomb thing; some super hot spices from our stop at the space station that be too hot even for me, cheese flavored lube from one of the shipments a crew mate got; can of unicorn meat, donno how real it be or not; 'nd an ice tray that makes ice in the shape of various organs... not all human.

[touchofrogue]

[Silently, her lips reformed the words: 'cheese flavored lube'. Okaaay. Not the kind of thing she'd be wanting to associate with the human body but... whatever. She shook her head at him.] Alright. Ya can have the tiara on one condition.

[cajunspice]

[Yeah, not his first choice either, but an item he had to grab to use against someone, even if he wasn't sure how yet. Smiling as she processed the information, Remy raised a brow to her.] Do tell.

[She points a gloved finger at him, her expression still holding a faint cast of humor, but her gaze was serious.]

Ya keep that glitter bomb far, far away from me.

[Remy laughed at her condition, before nodding and placing his free hand over his heart.] Got my word, ya won't be m' target for it.
