[He hasn't been called General Solo in years, and the usage of the title now gets a huff of breath out of time. It sounds almost like a laugh.]

I haven't been a general in years, Dameron. [And he's pretty sure the title of Captain now belongs to a five-year-old, so. He levels a look at Poe that says, really?] You can say it, you know, but thanks anyway. You don't look half-bad yourself, for someone in jail.

[A moment's pause, then a sigh:] Smuggling.

Yeah, and General Organa keeps telling me to call her Leia. [Look, he can't handle the fact that his childhood heroes have first names.]

Oh. So you got the bad news. [That's a relief. He sure didn't want to be the one to break it.] Well, I was having fun up until I got pulled over...

A shrug, then, in a tired tone:] It's one thing I'm good at. [Just keep telling yourself that.]

For what it's worth, I'm sorry. [Seriously, what do you even say to someone on the news of their untimely demise? And that's not even touching on the who part of it.]

I might have heard one too many stories about you. From General Organa. And from my dad.

For what it's worth, [he echoes] you're not the one who needs to be sorry about anything here. [It's probably Han who owes an apology here, but Leia's not here, so he keeps the words to himself.

Hell yeah I do, sir. Dad always wants to tell stories about everyone but himself. [Maybe it's a humbleness thing. Or maybe he doesn't want his kid to know what a hellraiser he was.]
