[And yet another birthday. Vash ticks it off mentally. He's never had a real problem with his birthday, but he never felt the need to make a big deal out of it either. Sometimes he'd have a nice meal or something, but this year he doesn't feel much need. There was all these exciting new places to check out!

He was in the cargo area. Putting away some spare ammo he had just picked up for the revolver he had. Finished he decided what he likes more than anything is being around people so making a broadcast would be a fun thing to do, right?]

Wow! Isn't being around all this life, wonderful? The people around here are really passionate! Has anyone been into any of the libraries around here? There are a couple books I'd like to look at but it seems a bit selective in who they want looking at them. Anyone have any luck at getting to some of the more... what's that sound?

[As Vash was talking a quiet chripping noise that sounds a lot like "happy birthday" has started to play.]

And what smells like burn-WHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!! [The camera will get a very quick glimpse of a cake in the shape of a donut. Or at least that's what it looks like it could be underneath all those candles. One of the blaring out happy birthday. Just one out of the over one hundred and thirty candles crammed for room together.]

Crap, crap, crap, crap, oh crap!!! How do I put this- BEEP! BEEP! FIRE! FIRE! BEEP! BEEP! FIRE! [Vash drops the communicator as he dances around. Trying to blow the candles out, but there's just too many! Doesn't help that they're the trick candles that keep relighting themselves.

But it's okay! The ship's sprinklers finally turns on and out goes the candles! And... any dry spot on the ship. Hope everyone visiting the Three Twins wanted a sudden and unexpected shower.]

Uh...oh... how do I get those off?

[Vash visibly flinches in shocked surprise. He's not sure what he was expecting from his joke. It being taken as a joke? Seriously? Bill being insulted? He had no clue.

That, however, was not in his scope of possible outcomes.] What? Well, I mean anyone killing someone is wrong but... what? You don't mean Knives do you?

[How could he know something like that? Is he like Cole? Cole could see Vash's past, but he wasn't nearly as gleeful about it.]

[Your friends are too loud, Vash. They don't encrypt enough - especially not from someone with a communications augment.]

[They're probably just being loud because Vash himself is loud. Just loud about spreading lies.

Vash composes himself. His typical smile gone.]

Considering you've just met my brother as a child, I'm sorry if I was a bit surprised that you immediately thought he was a murder.

[There. Not denying, but not exactly confirming either.] I've at least never introduced Knives to anyone else before. [Not even back home.]

[Bill gestures and a few more Bills appear behind him - a "mom" in a pink apron, a "dad" with a mustache over his bow tie, and a teeny tiny little sister with brown hair in pigtails looking very odd on the point of her triangle.]

- BUT THEY'RE ALL DEAD!

[The Bill-family all go through miming elaborate deaths before poofing into dust. It's very melodramatic. Clawing at the air, swooning with hands on their foreheads, the whole nine yards.]

[Vash opens his mouth to point out that it's hard to offend him. Then he shuts it again. Not wishing for Bill to take that as a challenge.]

I'm very sorry for your loss. [Vash also doesn't look overly impressed by Bill's "family".

He missed his normal dreams.]

Hey, I was actually curious. Can you go into the dreams of anyone of the Fleet? Like say, Diamond?

[Maybe find some interesting information and get the talk off of himself.]

None taken. My dreams aren't usually the most interesting ones to visit, I'm sure. [Usually they're not. Just certain times of the year.]

Is it a distance thing? Or that chip thing everyone gets? Because I have to admit, getting that in someone who lives in dreams is kinda impressive if it is.

IMPLANT, YEP! AT LEAST THAT'S THE ONLY THING IT CAN BE. DISTANCE MAKES NO DIFFERENCE HERE!

That's pretty impressive for a guy without a physical body. Unless you do have a body in the fleet.

That excited to get home? Well, wherever home is for a guy who lives inside of people's dreams.

WHAT, YOU'RE NOT?

Not really. [Make sure Knives's isn't killing everyone? Yes. See a few friends? Yes. Live on a desert planet with twin suns? No.] There are a couple people I wouldn't mind seeing, but I was a drifter back home so the fleet is a good fit for me.
