LILLY IS NOT HAPPY.

The moment she woke up on the Marsiva she was a wild angry mess of yelling and hissing and spitting. Because she was supposed to be with Makie, supposed to be around trees and forest and life and not strange metal worlds. Getting transferred to the Wonderduck is... not any better. She runs on all fours with a howl of indignant anger —

And anyone on the Wonderduck is forced to endure, uh...

A yelling, angry creature. If you expected your current engineer to be nice, I hate to tell you, um... She's throwing space food at the walls. Knocking down breakables. Kicking over chairs. Powder, floating through the air, coating her hair and her pajamas and the counters. She runs all throughout the ship before she manages to get to... the Iskaulit. How did she get here? When? Wouldn't you like to know.

You'll find a few things.

a.) You'll find yourself feeling... followed. There's nothing that you can see, but there's a distinct sound of... breathing? And then something darting past your peripheral, perhaps. If you're brave enough to go into the area containing the garden, you'll find the lights all off, as if someone couldn't stand them and their brightness.

And if you're especially unlucky, you can turn on the lights or use your communicator as a light to see this twitching figure:

b.) Or! Maybe you'll find her in angry mode. She's rushed into the library and one of the bars and is probably throwing around bottles and flinging books. What's she screaming the whole time? Maybe you'll even somehow find this strange, strange child on your ship. God have mercy on your soul if she figures the buttons out enough to rush around trying to find an exit. Or at least one can assume that's what she's looking for, because she keeps yelling angrily:



"OUT, OUT, OOOOUT!!"


... Maybe she, idk, wants out.

... Have fun.

Fortunately, once that initial shock wears off, Misty is able to take everything in calmly. There are far scarier things out there than this little girl and she's seen them. So Misty takes a few slow steps towards the table before sitting down cross-legged in front of the girl and waits to see what she does.

Lilly twitches when Misty sits down, staring out from the dark with both a puzzled but still entirely suspicious look. She doesn't trust the woman, not at all — not until she knows what this woman's mission is, exactly. Something like a growl rumbles in her throat, tiny and high.

What do you want? "... Let me out. Out..."

She wants to go back. To Makie, or to Victoria and Mama.

"Want Mama."

Hey, Misty don't blame her for being suspicious. This place is weird enough to get used to as an adult, much less a kid. She gives Lilly a sympathetic look.

"Honey, I don't know that Mama's here, but maybe if you tell me her name I can help you look."

Lilly scowls in confusion for a moment, looking between Misty and the floor.

A name...? Her name...? She just told you!

"Mama. Ma—ma."

Nobody ever finds her, though; it really wears on her, knowing that there's really no one who can find her mother for her, that she's trapped wondering just where her family is. Victoria went with their uncle, so she's not surprised to find her sister is always gone, but... Mama. She was supposed to be with her forever.

First Mama, and then she lost Makie.

It's very, very... disheartening.

Right. Misty guesses she didn't know her mama's name at this age either. She had to try though.

"Well then, what's your name? If you tell me I can put out a call on this special thing right here," Misty pulls out her communicator to show Lilly, "And I can ask everyone who is on the ships with us if they've seen her, okay?"

[motheater]

She bites her lip, considering what to say — if it'll help her find someone...

Well, maybe names are okay to give here, like they were in Adstringendum. She chews thoughtfully on a lock of blond hair, her options nearly visible above her head, she's so incredibly obvious.

"... Lilly."

She huffs.

"Mama. Mama and Papa and Crowrey and Makie."

Makie was taking care of her last. She's bitter they've been split up like this.

"Makie? And you're Lilly!" Misty laughs with delight. "Why, don't that beat all? Makie's my friend and she lives with me on my ship and she misses you real bad. Been talkin' about you a lot."

[motheater]

Wwwait a damn minute, lady -

Lilly's bright eyes grow a little brighter.

"Makie? Where??"

She misses Makie already; Makie understands her best of all.

She'd know what to do.

[mistyday]

"She's on my ship, it's called the Windrose. I can take you to see her, if you like, but she's in a deep sleep right now."

[motheater]

Lilly's expression falls slightly.

Because for all the inattentiveness she can possess, or the lack of understanding, some things remain closer to the front of her mind than others. She very well remembers Makie's corpse in Adstringendum, how she had died defending Lilly, and how terrible it had felt. She swallows.

"... Makie dead?"

[mistyday]

"No, no!" Misty takes a step closer, instinctively wanting to offer comfort, but she stops, not wanting to scare her either. "Makie's alive, she's just asleep. Don't worry I'm keeping careful watch over her."

[motheater]

If she looks relieved, it's because she utterly is, and sighs a breath she'd held.

There've been too many close calls, alright?

"... You take me? We go — to Makie, we go. Wake up."

[mistyday]

"We'll go to Makie, yes, and you can stay as long as you want. But I can't promise we will be able to wake her up - that's all controlled by the people who brought us here."

[motheater]

She bites her lip, not... quite understanding fully, but...

Lilly knows when a bleak response is given.

"Wanna see Makie," she says quietly, more subdued and vulnerable.

Misty holds out her hand to the little girl. "Come on, I'll take you."
