We've been told things - facts about the future. Ahsoka and I will be the last of the Jedi. The rest of them will be wiped out.

Oh my friend, I am so sorry.

[ Maglor shakes his head in grief ]

There is nothing that can be done?

[beardstrokes]

There's always something that can be done. The future is always in motion.

I believe in Anakin and Ahsoka. But . . . I do not think I could survive their future.

[bythewaves]

I am sorry. [ Maglor squeezes his hand, head bowed in grief ]

I wish I could carry that burden for you.

[beardstrokes]

[ He shakes his head. ]

If burdens were that easily passed around, they wouldn't be worth the weight. Anakin will change the galaxy. I believe that.

[bythewaves]

You speak wisdom, but it changes not the pain you carry, nor the fact that I would not wish such a grief on any.

But I am glad you have that small consolation, at the least.

Small consolations can rise up to be better worlds for the rest of us. I'll always believe that.

Sometimes it is the little lights in the darkness that keep us reaching forward, eh?

As long as light exists, the Dark does not win.

So may it always be. [ Maglor nods ]

It was said once that Shadow is only a passing thing - and there is Light and High Beauty, forever beyond it's reach. Aure entuluva, as some might say - Day will come again - a saying of hope from the very worst of times.

[beardstrokes]

I have seen it, how Hope can come from terrible times - the light of the Star of High Hope is carried by Earendil, and it is, in fact, one of the Silmarils my brothers and I are sworn to reclaim. It is beyond the reach of all, now, a light to the world below it. And Earendil has it only because we slew his people and drove his wife to cast herself with it off the cliff. His sons founded two great kingdoms - and we raised them, my brother and I. It is not perfect. But...

Seeing it and believing it can be different though.

[ Obi-Wan simply believes. It's part of his nature. ]

It can. [ Maglor nods ] But it would seem uncouth indeed to not believe, when one has seen the Turning with one's own eyes.

Aure entuluva [ He whispers softly ] Such Hope in that Man, despite the certainty of death that stared him in the eye. My folk still celebrate, although it was very much a tragedy.

[beardstrokes]

Perhaps . . . I should too.

[bythewaves]

It can be hard, to hold hope. [ Maglor agrees ]

But I am old, and I have seen it - always, the sun rises, even after the darkest and longest night.

[beardstrokes]

[ Obi-Wan has yet to see it. ]

I know.

[bythewaves]

The dawn always comes. That is what estel is founded on - hope not for oneself, for such hopes are often in vain. But for the morning. If there are any who would heed me, Obi-wan, I pray that you might see your morning.

[beardstrokes]

[ Perhaps that is his problem and gift: Obi-Wan doesn't give up. He can't. There's never been a time where he learned how to. ]

Then I am glad. [ Maglor says softly ]

For I would hope that my friend would be granted better days than I.

They will come. Someday.
