[lucky for her, the Bloodsport's captain has also been weirdly scarce this week, what with being in a good mood and wanting to explore and all that. but, eventually, their paths must cross...

as he walks into the kitchen, mostly preoccuped with some metal box he's fiddling with. it looks like he's been working in the engine room, or something, since his fingers are staining dark and he's got a couple of grease smudges up his arms.

--so he looks up, suddenly, when someone else is there. hello.]

Oh. [regardless of what was said of if she recognizes him:] There you are.

[she does recognize him, which makes the awkward greeting feel all the more awkward. She's embarrassed by how worked up she was, but she still doesn't... like him yet. So while she's trying to seem chill, she's a bit tense.]

I guess you work here too, huh? [...] I don't think I got your name last time.

... [he stares at her for a second, but finally cracks a wide smile.] That's right, I was rude to you the last time. I'm sorry about that.

[he sets his mysterious transistor box down on the table between them.] My name's Robin. I'll be your captain while you're staying on this ship.

I'm Ringo Oginome. I guess I'm your lab support? Although I have to warn you, I'm not a doctor or anything like that back home.

That's fine. I'm an engineer-- [he wiggles the messy fingers of his right hand as a wave.] --Can't say I ever worked on a spaceship before coming here, though. Everyone finds their place.

That's good to hear. [...] Despite it being really creepy, all this extra information helps. [she very vaguely gestures to her augment]

So, what is this ship like? Are the people okay?

[nodding, then chuckling.]

Trust me, I'm the most obnoxious person you're going to run into around here. First mate's an angel who's always sleeping. The security officer and pilot are a couple of dorks, but they're good friends. There's another guy around who yells a lot, but he's mostly harmless. I think you're in with good people.

[to hear him call himself obnoxious, that earns a wry smile out of her. Good, at least he's self-aware. People like that are easier to deal with. But then an idea comes to her]

Wait... so I'm the only girl?

[AH HA HA he gives a cheery little laugh.]

Ugh, I normally wouldn't care but this ship is so small-- [she's more muttering to herself, but then she sighs and shrugs her shoulders. At the end of the day, she can't complain]

And another question, this food stuff. [she jerks her thumb to point over her shoulder at the food dispensers] It's unlimited?

[he shrugs too. what can he say? yeah, it sucks.]

As far as any of us have been able to figure out, yeah. Not great, but it's better than actively worrying about feeding ourselves. Ah-- [he crosses around, turns the sink on, waits for the water to warm up a little...] --Riku cooks with the real food that we pick up here and there, so talk to him if you want something a little more substantial. The guy could use more to do.

[she looks over her shoulder and stares at the food dispensers. Wow... really unlimited. She tends to wear her emotions on her sleeve, so for half a second there's a look of longing on her face. Sure it's crappy, but never having to go hungry. Everyone back in Haven...

No, no, no. Thinking about stuff she can't change doesn't do anything productive. She's moving forward, that's what she promised]

That's okay. [she looks back at Robin and puts her hands on her hip. Trying to project confidence or something like that] Maybe when I find something I'll bring it to him, but I don't want to take your stuff before I've earned anything.

[he watches. he's always watching, of course, but he thinks her feelings are pretty obvious. he turns away, finally scrubbing off his hands in the sink--he's got to get under his fingernails and everything.]

How old are you, Mynah?

[ahaha, she ignores his question entirely and perks up at the nickname, and points at him]

That! [she wasn't entirely sure if she heard him right last time]

So I didn't make that up-- what are you calling me?

[oh... fine, he'll let his question sit on the sidelines for a second, answering with a pleasant tone.]

You don't know? It's a bird. It imitates the calls of other birds, and sometimes humans.

Why am I a bird...? [hrmf she can't quite.. tell if that's an insult or not so she's being only semi-defensive]

All good people are birds. [casually drying his hands off. seems oblivious to her tone.]

Of course not. Robin, Mynah. We're good people.

[which he seems genuine about, at the very least. he doesn't seem like he's making fun of her...!]

So, you never answered my question. How old are you?

[she stares straight at him, then nods. He does seem genuine, so she'll just believe him]

Seventeen. [...] Sort of. The place where I was at before, we never knew what date it was. But I was sixteen when I left home, and was there for a year... so we'll go with seventeen.

[what a funny girl. she seems very serious... though, it sounds as though she'd been to one of these nexus' before, just like him, so that could account for it.]

That's good. You're about the same age as Riku and Sora. You seem very worldly, though... [leaning casually back against the sink.] Are you finally sure you're not where you thought you were?

Worldly... [does she really? huh... it's kinda nice to hear, but she doesn't comment on it and answers his question instead]

Yeah. If we were still in Haven something would have happened by now, or I would have run into other people that I knew there. [thinking about it still leaves a bitter taste in her mouth, and it shows on her face slightly]

I'm glad I'm not there anymore, but I hate thinking about the people who are probably still stuck there.

I understand. [there. he won't make fun of her for being wrong.] I came from a pretty bad place before this, too... I don't ever want to go back, but every once in a while I wonder if the others are doing okay, or if they made it out too...

[...depressing! he shrugs.] For what it's worth, you're very welcome on this crew. And if you need anything, just let me know. I'll do what I can.

[sympathy shows on her face as he talks about his own past place. And she appreciates not being made fun of :3]

Thanks, I'm grateful to be on a ship that mostly seems to have their act together. [she gives an exaggerated sigh] It's easy to imagine people making a mess of the ship they're given.

[he laughs! a little suddenly, actually, and he covers his mouth to not be too loud.]

I won't claim that we're perfect, but everyone seems to get along pretty well. And now we've got a lab... It's kind of exciting. Maybe we'll find some kind of alien creature that you need to science.
