[There's a strangely familiar cold that has settled in her bones, a dreadful chill that disorients her in the first few moments that she's awake. Her first thought is that something went wrong - very wrong - as they passed through the temporal distortion, but then... as she sits up and takes in her surroundings, the memories all come back in a flood. Atroma has brought Beverly back, a little older, a little blonder, and with a new Starfleet uniform.

Or maybe I never left, she thinks. This is not the Marsiva, these are her quarters aboard the Blue Fish, and none of her things look as if they've been moved. Though admittedly, her memories of Drift Fleet seem distant. By her reckoning, it's been three years since she's seen this room.

Not that "time" really means much, considering what's happened in the past few days.

The communicator rests where she left it on the bedside table. When she picks it up, she finds it's full of unread messages, crewmates and friends wondering where she is, each message sounding more alarmed than the last. With a sinking feeling in her stomach, she checks today's date: September first.]

Damn!

[Immediately, she sends a message to the network, via video:]

This is Dr. Crusher of the... SS Blue Fish. It seems our gracious captors sent me home for a while. I'm back now, and I'm safe, and I'm sorry to everyone who was trying to contact me this month. I'll be on the Blue Fish if you need me.

[There's a pause, as if she's about to say something else, but then she simply gives them a small smile, one that doesn't quite reach her eyes.]

Thank you.

[The feed cuts off and after a moment, she decides to head for the kitchen. Not that she's particularly hungry but - there's a good chance that's where she'll find at least a few of her crewmates.]

[Wanda had heard of Beverly's disappearance. The context sounded similar to what had happened to her, so she had tried to remain calm and to not worry too much. Surely, it would mean that Beverly would return soon? Still, as the days wore on, it became harder and harder not to worry. When Beverly's broadcast appears on her communicator, Wanda lets out a relieved sigh that feels as though she'd been holding it for a long time. She quickly switches on her own communicator's video feed.]

It is good to see you back.

[A genuine smile of happiness and relief on her face, Wand then adds in a more playful tone:]

I like the hair.

[Beverly blinks in surprise.]

Hmm?

[Her hand goes up automatically to pat her hair.]

Oh! Right. I forgot I hadn't dyed it yet. Thank you... not sure how long I'll keep it, but it's nice to have a change every now and then.

[Wanda briefly considers how she'd look with blonde hair. "Hmmm... maybe?" She thinks to herself. At the very least, it would be funny to see the look on Pietro's face were she to surprise him with it.]

You should leave it like that for a little while. It looks good.

[The way she compliments Beverly... maybe detecting a slight hint that she'd be open to doing it herself?]

[But then, her expression does grow more serious as she verifies if she had guessed right about what had happened to Dr. Crusher.]

Did you go home?

[Beverly smiles her thanks for the compliment, then nods in answer to Wanda's question.]

I did. For three years in fact.

[So she had been right in guessing that whatever happened to her also happened to Beverly. Still, to be on the other side of it, she could understand why people were so relieved to see someone they care about return.]

And you still remember everything? From before you went home?

I do, more or less.

[She smiles.]

I am only human, however. No doubt there are some things I have forgotten.

[Good. A relieved smile finds its way to Wanda's face. So it did sound like they'd each experienced something similar after all. However...]

Three years though? You were back home for three years?

[She nods.]

A lot has changed.

When I was sent home, it had only been for a year. I cannot imagine the difficulty you must be feeling reconciling so much time.

It's... a disconcerting experience, that's for sure.

[Wanda is quiet for a moment, her eyes searching back and forth as she tries to think of something she can do or say to help.]

If- if you feel talking about it would help...

[Her voice trails off, leaving her words sounding like a question.]

Perhaps another day. For now, I think I just need some time to work through it myself.

[Wanda nods, understanding where Beverly is coming from. She had been much the same after her bout of memory-recovery.]

It is sort of bittersweet, isn't it? To wake up back here.

Mmm. I'm happy to see people but...

[But she doesn't really want to finish that sentence.]

[Wanda will attempt to finish it for her.]

But you have things back home that are left undone. Things that are important. That need to be taken care of.

[She leans back slightly, sighing.]

Not to mention, the welcome return of that feeling-- that lingering reminder at the the back of your head that we're being watching by our ever looming hosts.

[It's not even that. Well, of course, she'd like to know for sure that the Enterprise makes it back to the present and that all has been restored, but there's nothing she feels she needs to do. Even if there was, now she knows it'll still be waiting. She just simply does not belong here, does not want to have to lose her Enterprise family all over again.

How many more years will it be this time?

Her sigh echoes Wanda's own.]

I try not to think about it.

[Wanda nods, her expression apologetic.]

I am sorry. I am not helping, am I?

[She sighs. Not sure what else to say, what subject to jump to.]

Have you heard about the new system we're currently visiting?

Only bits and pieces.

Well, the basic gist is that the system has planets and areas that are affiliated with one of three factions. Each one has their own preferred colors and schools of thought. One favors pure strength, another intelligence, and a third survivalism. Many in the fleet have been drawn to one faction or another. Others have chosen to blend in with multiple. Depending on where you are and what color you are wearing, you will either encounter open arms or closed fists.

[A sigh.]

Additionally, there do seem to be some neutral planets and areas that do not belong to one particular group. And there are still more in the fleet who have stuck to these areas and not gotten involved with anyone.

Sounds complicated and very much like something I should not get involved in.

[That gets a soft giggle out of Wanda.]

It is not so complicated. They were kind enough to color-code everything. It's as simple as matching whatever one happens to be the most predominant around you at the time.

Nevertheless - I think I'll stick to the neutral planets.

[A slight shrug from Wanda. No judgement here.]

There are a few places that are neutral and good for relaxing. Vision talks about them a lot. I could ask him about it for you?

That would be wonderful - I could use some relaxation.

[Wanda smiles, looking relieved to be able to brighten Dr. Crusher's spirits somewhat.]

I'll let him know. I'm sure he'll be happy to see you, if he hasn't told you himself already.
