Lots of people don't like learning new stuff, though.

I love it - long as it's not like school, you know?

School sounds super shitty, so that makes sense.

What about you? You like learning new things?

I... don't know.

I guess I do, like I liked it when Winter taught me to knit or Charles taught me to play chess. But I keep getting hit with so many new things I have to learn at once that it gets... really not fun.

[mistyday]

Yeah, it can be overwhelming, especially here. You ever been to space before this?

[pain_train]

No. There's a major debris field orbiting around my planet that means it's impossible to leave.

[mistyday]

Wow, really? But you musta had people in space at some time to get all that up there in the first place right?

[pain_train]

Oh yeah. I mean, interstellar travel and everything. Using gates. We just can't get off world right now. And the Union hasn't sent anyone to investigate for some reason.

[mistyday]

We haven't got that far yet. Just to the moon and only certain people can do it, after years of training and stuff.

[pain_train]

I guess you're like from my past, so that means you'll go further and further and have colonies in a few hundred years. It's kind of a weird thought...

[mistyday]

Right? Then again, don't think you got magic in your world, so maybe it'll be different in ours.

[pain_train]

That's a good point. You could end up somewhere even better! Hopefully.

[mistyday]

Hopefully, though I doubt I'll be seeing it.

[They've reached the kitchen now and Misty reaches up to her cabinet to take out a little glass vial. She gestures towards one of the dining chairs.]

Just sit down there and I'll fix you up right quick.

[pain_train]

I don't know, maybe magic means you'll get to? [She has no idea how it works, so why not.]

[Wrath gets into the chair and sits, idly kicking her feet. She watches what Misty does with fascination.]

[Misty pulls the stopper out of the vial.]

Now, hold still for just a minute...

[Gently she tilts Wrath's chin up and pours out a few drops onto her split lip. There's only a mild tingling sensation to indicate that anything has changed. However, her skin is mending itself rapidly, far more so than should be possible.]

There! [She looks around.] Shoulda thought to brought a mirror so you could see.

[pain_train]

[Wrath complies without question or hesitation. And she can feel the difference. She touches her lip lightly and smiles.]

Wow... oh, I can look at myself, don't worry!

[And she... pops her artificial eye out and uses it to look at herself. Yep. That's sure a thing.]

[mistyday]

Shit!

[But then Misty laughs.]

Didn't know you could do that! That's so cool!

[pain_train]

Having artificial parts is kind of fun sometimes! I can like.. Record things too.

[mistyday]

Really? Like a full video and everything?

[pain_train]

Yeah! And I can save little pieces of it long-term, since normally it just lasts for 48 hours. And it's got a little holo projector so I can show you some pictures and stuff if you want.

[mistyday]

[Misty nods eagerly.]

Oh can you?! I've never seen a holo...whatever.

[pain_train]

Sure!

[She rolls the eye so it rests in her palm, pupil up. Then it projects a little holographic picture, of a massive man with a shaved head (Maine), asleep on a couch with Jellybean curled up on his chest.]
