Er, there was the time a became cross at someone for destroying one of the maintenance bots on the network.

Just cross?

[She frowns.]

Did you do anything about it?

[He nods.]

Of course I did. I wrote a program similar to the one used on ours here on the Windrose that prevented them from exterminating the vermin, as that was what was causing the problem in the first place. Then I helped the maintenance personnel on the ship install it to prevent any other displays of wanton violence.

[She huffs.]

Not exactly what I meant. You didn't you know... yell or wanna fight or anything like that?

[He purses his lips.]

As much as I've trained for combat, I rarely feel the desire to initiate it. I suppose I tend toward the defensive rather than the offensive in nearly every circumstance.

Wish I was like that.

[She kneels and trails a hand in the water.]

I never mean to get angry, but I do. A lot.

[He sits down next to her on the barrier.]

It's not the anger that's a problem, Misty. It's a perfectly natural response to things - one of the factors people use to classify me as inhuman, in fact. I don't believe it's that I'm not capable of anger, but my frame of reference is so very different than anyone else's the normal stimuli don't affect me in the same way at all.

Channeling the anger into a productive outlet is far more difficult.

I've had to fight so much in the past... it's hard, getting over that. Sometimes I think I'm okay here but then someone will say or do something that just sets me off.

[She takes her hand out of the water and looks at Vision.]

Obi-Wan says anger leads to the Dark Side. I don't want to be on the Dark Side.

[She could do worse than learning from Obi-Wan Kenobi. He nods, expression calm.]

You've been hurt. Wounds can heal, as well you know, but they remain tender during the process and can be torn open.

I wonder if they ever will really heal.

[She smiles sadly.]

At least I've got people like you with me.

There's a very good chance they will. You're strong-hearted, Misty.

[He inclines his head.]

I'm here for you any time you wish to speak with me.

I know.

[She leans over and rests her head on his shoulder for a moment.]

I'm really glad you're my captain.

[Aww.]

I'm glad to be captain.

I'm tryin' to be better every day. You deserve a good crew.

[She turns and smiles.]

At least Ordis and I are friends now, right?

[At that, he looks even more pleased.]

Indeed. I'm very glad he's managed to make friends - and I'm glad for your sake as well.

[She blushes happily.]

Me too. We're a lot alike, you know, me and him. I think it's why we fought so much, in the beginning.

[He nods, understanding what she means.]

It takes a great deal of perception--and, I'd imagine, not a small amount of patience--to reach that conclusion.

It helped too, being on that planet where you could hear each other's thoughts. He was so happy there, I wish we could have stayed.

I found it very pleasant there myself. [He smiles a bit, almost self-consciously.] Do you know, it gave me the courage to tell Wanda I loved her?

Oh, Vision really?

[She lights up and clasps her hands together excitedly.]

That's so wonderful!

[He'd thought she might like to hear that! He smiles in return.]

Indeed. So, should you see her around the Windrose more frequently, it's safe to assume that is why.

Are y'all gonna move in together?

I think not. I wouldn't invite her to stay here without her brother, and there's not enough space for them both.

[That he might leave the Windrose doesn't occur to him.]

We can always buy more rooms, but as long as you're happy, that's the important thing.
