She's trying very hard not to think about the 'pirate' part. She talked to Robin, so it's probably okay, right...?]

I have no skill at healing, but what other ideas are you looking for?

[Nami gives her a wry smile as she comes onto the bridge, but she shakes her head.]

Well, I'm not sure. I mean-- at home, we'd just set up watches, but people don't tend to go crazy at the flick of a switch back home. Did you see Allen's entry a while ago?

[She's gonna flick through her communicator in search of it anyway.]

I do not believe so... Ah, who is "Allen"?

He's a guy with white hair and a mark on his face, and he's been kicking around in places like this for... probably the longest of any of us, by the sounds of things. And he runs the local blood bank-- you'll probably see him talking about that at least once a month. It's a good idea to donate, if you can.

Here. Some of these are overkill, I think, but some of them are good ideas. What do you think?

[She's just gonna slide her comm over so it's open to this conversation. Aria's security, right? Best person to talk about this with. Okay never mind she hasn't thought about the fact that you're kind of... one of the few people less tech-oriented than she is.]

[She goes over the list, nodding to herself.]

These seem wise, though there is much I do not understand... Ah, if there is someone violent, I am capable of a magic for containment, as well.

That's handy! And that's a start. It's not our fault if the augments glitch, so the most painless way of stopping people is the best, for everyone concerned.

We don't have an engineer on board. Are you-- is your magic capable of setting an alarm? Like Allen suggests on the engine.

[foxpas]

[She shakes her head, a little meek.]

I am not. My sister was the one skilled with magic, I simply learned that which may be used for fighting.

[namisan]

Trust me when I say that someone who can fight on board is definitely appreciated. [Don't be meek, man, she's glad you're on board.]

...that does lead me to a more personal question, though. I'm guessing you're aware what happened with Sascha a few weeks ago?

I am. I stood guard when he was confined to the room on the Iskaulit.

[...okay, yes. That makes her smile briefly.]

He's not the first this happened to. Before you got here, we had another passenger glitch and he was way more violent. A lot of people got hurt. But the common thread is-- both of them kind of got tuned to a point in their past that was seriously detrimental to the safety of others.

[foxpas]

... I see.

[She has to take a moment to consider that carefully.]

Of course you can. [Is she stepping over the line? Hmm. Nami leans back in her chair.]

[foxpas]

Should this occur to me, and I become younger, it is likely I will be frightened of you. If that happens, all you need tell me is that Corda is not here, and I will be all right.

... But, if possible, it would be easiest if you refrained from mentioning piracy. I understand now, but depending on how far back I am tuned to, I may be quite upset by that...

[namisan]

[Nami's eyes widen fractionally, before her expression softens. Ah. Well, that's. A callback.]

I can do that. [She taps her fingers on the table for a moment, before giving her a tiny grin.] If you do the same for me. I hated pirates when I was younger.

[foxpas]

What should I say to you?

... I will say nothing of your future, then. But how did you turn from that to become a pirate yourself?

[namisan]

Hmm. [She's not sure what she should say, to be honest. Nami was a stubborn kid. But while she's thinking on that, she can answer the second question.]

I guess I found the one pirate captain who was the exception to the rule. The pirates I knew as a kid were monsters. But some of them just want the freedom to do what they want, and they want the people they care about to have the same.

I'm not the kind of pirate that hurts people who don't deserve it. If that helps.

[foxpas]

... It does. I have heard some of your world's meaning of piracy from the lady Robin.

[She still doesn't seem pleased.]

In my world, they are nothing so noble. Bandits unable to cope with the laws of the land, so they flee to the ocean and dismiss all their crimes as 'freedom'. The pirates of my world are naught but villains, thieves who steal the livelihood and lives of others. They are slavers who take children from their homes to sell them elsewhere.

... I understand that this is not the case for you, and I am full glad to hear it. But the title calls up unpleasant associations.

[namisan]

No... there's nothing noble about our chosen way of life. You're describing the pirates of my world right there, too. That sort of scum is everywhere. But every group has its exceptions. [Nami can't do much more to defend herself, and honestly she doesn't care to. She is what she is, and Aria can make her own mind up in due time. It's her right to despise pirates.]

And if I'm a kid... I don't know. Tell me Arlong isn't here. [She pauses, then smiles a little.] And that I grow up really cute.
