Action: Blue Fish's clinic!
When: All throughout the Solrius dragon plot and through the space flight to the next destination.

[So several RPG characters, a dragon, and two messianic figures walk into a planet.

Everything is suffering and tears, there's a lot of dead people, there's no punchline. But, hey, for the survivors, the Blue Fish's clinic is treating wounds and generally being a decent place to rest and recover and pray you don't see a dragon again. And for those who weren't involved, there's enough people bedridden here that there may just be someone you want to visit.]

All the time. [He peers at her curiously.] I know it sounds strange, but you miss out on so much by staying like this forever.

[She shakes her head.]

It doesn't sound strange at all. When I was 24 I became pregnant with Wesley and that changes... everything.

I can imagine. [He's thought a lot about being a father.] I mean, technically, I could adopt, but then...

Then there's gonna be a point where my hypothetical kid's gonna outgrow me.

They would, but that wouldn't change the love you would have for one another. Just like it doesn't for us.

I sure hope so.

[He'd never once considered that. Even if his kid grew older than him, the bond would remain the same?]

I'd given up on having kids, but if and when the time's right.... I know I'd want them.

And any child would be lucky to have you as a father.

[That's high praise. Stefan's cheeks turn a deep red, and he ducks his head so she can't quite see his smile.]

I don't know about that, but thank you. That means a lot.

I do.

[She has all the confidence in the world in him.]

Now is there anything else I should know? I... can't say that I'm exactly familiar with vampire physiology.

Not off the top of my head. Once everyone else's better, you can give me a check-up and I'll give you a rundown.

There is uh, one major thing. [His cheeks grow even redder, if that's possible.] I heal fast. Like, faster than humanly possible.

[She takes that completely in stride.]

You are not the first I have met who could do so. It isn't a bad thing.

No, but... [He hesitates.] When you say you're unfamiliar, how unfamiliar are we talking?

Well... I did once encounter Mal in bat form. But that's about as much as I know of her abilities.

You didn't have vampire legends or anything? Not even uh, any of those holodramas?

Oh of course there are - there are holonovels of just about everything - but it isn't a genre I really ever got into.

Ah. [He sighs, his shoulders drooping significantly.] Well, uh, vampires drink blood.

Usually human blood, but I'm... I don't do that.

She was the same way... Instead she -

[Beverly's eyes widen with realization. She points at him.]

That's why you drink so much tea, isn't it? It's your replacement!

Um, yeah. [He lets out a nervous (and partially grateful) laugh. Good, he doesn't have to dwell on that right now.] That obvious?

Only because I'd seen it before. And you must be the one taking blood pills too, right?

Right. Unless we've landed somewhere, and then I'll munch on the wildlife.

[He furrows his brow. He knows he didn't mention it to her, so someone else must've. Allen, probably?]

[She nods. Nothing she needs to worry about right now then as far as his physical well-being goes. But she sees that little frown.]

Is something wrong?

Not really? It's just - I wasn't the one who told you about blood pills, right?

[He taps his chin, his expression turning more thoughtful.] It's not a huge secret or anything, but they're not common knowledge either.

[She shakes her head, her expression darkening.]

Sascha convinced one of his crewmates that he was starving and they came to me for help. So I asked Allen about it, given that he knows more about these sorts of things than I do, only to find out that Sascha had already tried to get at the blood in the blood bank and Allen had already told him about the blood pills.

Figures. [He doesn't know what he expected, but that. That does sound like Sascha.] I swear, sometimes that guy is such an idiot.

[She huffs.]

That's perhaps putting it too nicely.

Did he give you trouble too? [He sighs.] I'm sorry. I wish I were more surprised.
