Lets see here, the ones about the Jedi abusing their powers and lack of accountability. Leading a coup against an elected leader.

You're talking about Palpatine? [Elected leader, maybe, but not a psychopath that needed to be destroyed? Definitely not!]

I know that. But he trained Luke - along with Master Yoda - and prepared him for it.

Yes. [Hux honestly had mixed feelings about Palpatine but he didn't really care about Palpatine being a Sith. Sith Lord or not, Palpatine had accomplished many good things in the galaxy.]

Do you know for certain it was Luke Skywalker who defeated and killed Vader then? And the Emperor at the same time?

[he was actually curious about what she knew about that, if anything. No one really knew what happened on Death Star II.]

Palpatine was dangerous. He didn't need to be ruling anybody. [It doesn't matter to her what good he did. A Sith is a Sith is a Sith is a Sith!]

He certainly was dangerous, certainly but you are hardly in a position of saying whether or not he could rule. He was elected at one point, you realize.

[And Jedi are just as bad in his view, if not worse.]

I was interesting in hearing what you thought what might have happened, if you really thought Luke would kill Vader like that.

I can think of a few reasons but we won't go into that.

[So she doesn't know and he's not going to tell her. That's not a conversation he's ever going to go near.]

There's a difference between something naturally not being fair and someone purposefully making it so for his own benefit.

What about all the people he killed? He saw to the destruction of a whole planet!

Then I don't feel any differently about Master Kenobi or Master Skywalker.

What about all the people the Republic and Rebellion killed? Should that just be forgotten as well? I won't answer for Grand Moff Tarkin about Alderaan though.

Perhaps you may see them differently in the future but that's all I can tell you.

No, they haven't been forgotten. But the problem stems from him hiding his true self from everyone. [Except for Darth Vader, perhaps, and those directly under him.]

I doubt it. Everyone has faults and I'm sure they have theirs.

Do you really expect those in power to be completely honest? Even in the Republic it doesn't work like that.

I have no doubt Palpatine was ambitious and enjoyed the power he wielded but at the same time he was the strong leader the galaxy the needed after the Republic crumbled.

And say what you will about him being a Sith, he was able to do a great deal to help star systems recover from the Clone Wars, re-establish secure routes to the Outer Rim, and ensured Imperial citizens could depend on that stability.

[He has to admire Palpatine for doing that, it was honestly one of the few good things the Empire had actually done.

Faults like being Darth Vader and the Emperor's enforcer? He's not going to point that out though.]

I don't expect full honesty - though it would be nice - but for someone to be a Sith Lord and not tell anyone... That's a problem.

[She rubs her forehead with the heel of her hand.]

Others could have stepped up in his place. He either saw them killed, no doubt, or silenced them through other means.

[A Sith Lord doesn't have empathy or understanding. How does that equal a good ruler?]
