So he glances over at the stranger, giving him a pointed look up and down, not bothering to lower his weapon-clad arm. His eyes glow a little in the dim light of the cargo bay, adding to his overall... Halloween-y appearance.
Finally, he nods to answer yes. And the weapon does have that cobbled-together look to it; it's a feat of engineering, but was made by someone who knows more about car mechanics than he does weapons construction.

"They took my lightsaber away when they brought me here. Making a new one is certainly on my list of things to do." He added, something that he assumed they both likely had in common. "Where did you get the raw materials for that?"

"...Just missed it," he says, his voice like gravel. He turns his attention to the tin targets and fires one more bolt through it with a bang--but after that, he finally lowers his arm. Kylo's chances of getting shot have significantly lessened.
He turns to the stranger again. "Bought them from the star system. Just left." He nods towards the bridge, too, like that would explain that he means the Fleet has left the range of the planets upon which he got them.
"Weren't cheap, either."
It's hard for them to find parts anywhere, let alone ones he can afford. This little weapon of his is four or five months in the making, and luck had a large factor.

Mechanical parts were going to be hard to come by. A kyber crystal, even moreso.
"How often does the fleet visit one of these planets? And how technologically advanced are they?"
