[Heave! It was just about as heavy as she had figured, which was still...a lot. She was surprised he hadn't crushed his neck. Once it was set back into the hooks, she took a step backwards. His heart was racing, breathing still labored. But he'd probably be fine...]

[He runs a hand through his sweaty hair with a sigh.] I know. Just trying to blow off some steam.

[Which is... a stupid reason, but okay, Arthur.]

[Honestly, she could understand that. Frustrating was one of her primary states half the time. Still.]

There are ways to do so that won't kill you.

[And perhaps a bit out of character for her demeanor, she indicated the two tanks full of those weird emotion slugs from the garden planet they'd been on.]

[He stares at the slugs for a while with a slightly put-off expression.]

...Really? Those things?

[He's never even stopped to look at them.]

[Laura wasn't sure why she was fascinated by the little creatures. Lord knows she had caught and bought enough of them to fill the two tanks.]

They are...[What was the right word...] Soothing.

Hm. [He gets up to go over and look at them.] Who brought them on the ship anyway? Did you?

[She nods, moving with him. One tank is full of plants for the slugs to live on, and the other is full of water, with many of the aquatic ones swimming around inside it.]

I bought a smaller tank but then the...[What was it...] Wishing tree? Created these instead.

[Which made no sense, but hey, she wasn't going to argue with it. ...And she'd gone to get more slugs after that.]

They're kind of cute, I guess.

[He tilts his head, watching them swimming.]

Maybe the wishing tree knew you needed them. To soothe you.

[He's not really sure if he believed that the tree was sentient, but heck, it was magical. Why not? He glanced at Laura.]

[She's a snoop who watches people.]

Nnnno... Are they slimy?

[She thought that over for a minute.]

Hmm... [He narrows his eyes and bends down to look at them closer.] Can I pick one up now?

[Laura steps to the side.]

Yes. They're fragile. The ones from the dry tank are easier to hold.

[Also...not wet.]

[Okay, he'll give it a go. He reaches in the dry tank and picks one up gingerly, looking unsure.] I just... hold it?

I'm sorry for how late this is.

Yes.

I put them on my shoulders.

[Which was probably weird but she didn't realize it.]
