{It's useful to be an Elf who didn't need much rest. And even when Fingon does rest, it's never easily thanks to memories that he's yet to address. So he sews. His grandfather spoils him and gave him enough cloth for a couple robes, and that's precisely what he's working on. Spread out around him in his small bunk are various bits of ribbon, thread, and lots of cloth, all of which are coming together under his skilled fingers.

The Elf has a light on, of course, but even with it his own natural faint glow is there if one looks. Black hair is braided back, and he's humming quietly as the needle darts in and out of the vibrant blue cloth in his lap. He doesn't want to disturb his mortal crewmates, after all! That would be rude. The song is an old one, for those who know Arda and its music, of brighter, more innocent days.

It's impossible to not realize he has no idea he's being observed.}

Come here, Kano. {Still gently spoken, but Fingon puts just a bit of authority.} You know the way to my room. This is not something to speak over such a cold communications system.

Yes sire. [ Maglor obeys meekly, docile in a way that is terribly unlike him, although by the time he gets to Finrod's door, there is no trace of distress, the mask firmly in place again ]

{Fingon hates ordering people around. Especially family. He reaches out to gently take Maglor's hand and tug him inside.}

We worry because we love you. Not out of duty. I have not spoken with Grandfather about you or Nelyo's appetites - indeed we have not spoken about what is to come after his living memory. Nor will I.

{A careful breath.} Nor will I ask what happens after my own death.

[ Maglor lets Fingon tug him inside, and only smiles ]

I know. I will be alright though, you should worry more about Nelyo.

[ He drops his eyes at that ]

It ... will hurt you to know, but I ... think you should think about that decision very carefully.

{Fingon gently threads their fingers together, not entirely believing that smile and it makes his heart ache.}

I worry over you, and Nelyo, and Grandfather and Ingoldo. That is what family does, Kano.

{He brings Maglor's hand up and rests his cheek on the back.} I will...listen. If you feel I should hear it. I will always listen to what you have to say.

[ Maglor lets Fingon do so and automatically hums softly, trying to soothe his cousin's distress ]

You don't have to worry about me. [ He assures ] I will be alright.

[ He shakes his head ] You need to decide, cousin. It... it is a very hard tale to tell, as well as to hear but... it might... impact on ... future dealings with us.

{Fingon squeezes his fingers gently.}

Let me care for you - you and Nelyo always protected me. You are one of my dearest friends, beyond just family.

{He steps close and wraps his free arm around Maglor in a gentle embrace, leaning trustingly against him.}

I am the older cousin. [ Maglor objects mildly in return, but although he stiffens with the first step closer, he relaxes against Fingon after ]

{Fingon hums softly, not moving away. Maglor won't let him fall.}

{Fingon breathes out a quiet laugh.}

[ He shakes his head, but his words are fond ]

{Fingon smiles fondly up at him.}

Someone surely should remind you that you are loved. I am happy to be one of them.

I am... not someone deserving of such loyalty, but I am grateful all the same.

I think otherwise, but you are already aware of that.

I know. And I am always grateful, even if I do not understand.

{Fingon leans up to kiss his cousin's cheek.}

Come sit with me? I would like the company.

[bythewaves]

[ Maglor nods and moves to settle next to Fingon, where he can watch but not get in the way ]

Alright. Although I fear I am boring company, unless you want song!

[valiantfire]

{Fingon reclaims his seat and pulls the robe back to him to return to his work, though Maglor isn't spared his attention.}

You know I love your songs. And you are not boring!

[bythewaves]

I am very boring, or so I have been told by young cousins at times.

[ Maglor retorts wryly, but he settles next to Fingon to watch him work, absently starting to hum softly ]

Did you want me to sing?

[valiantfire]

{Fingon snorts and rolls his eyes playfully.}

{Then smiles hopefully, fingers starting back in tugging thread through cloth.} If you don't mind?

[bythewaves]

Hm, well at least you had the manners not to say so to my face!.

[ Maglor smiles and shakes his head at him ]

Ah, and so your true motive for having me visit becomes clear, I see. What do you want to hear, cousin?

[valiantfire]

{A grin, good cheer fully reinstated!}

And now you claim I lie! {Fingon's quite happy to tease and cajole his cousins into happiness.

A subtle shift and he rests a bent knee against Maglor, seeking to keep some small contact with one of his dearest friends.}

I fear you know me far too well and see past anything I can design! But in knowing that, what do you think I want to hear?

Well I do not know what you said when I was not around do I?

[ Maglor knows what he is doing but cannot find it in him to begrudge it, only shaking his head at him ]
