{It's useful to be an Elf who didn't need much rest. And even when Fingon does rest, it's never easily thanks to memories that he's yet to address. So he sews. His grandfather spoils him and gave him enough cloth for a couple robes, and that's precisely what he's working on. Spread out around him in his small bunk are various bits of ribbon, thread, and lots of cloth, all of which are coming together under his skilled fingers.

The Elf has a light on, of course, but even with it his own natural faint glow is there if one looks. Black hair is braided back, and he's humming quietly as the needle darts in and out of the vibrant blue cloth in his lap. He doesn't want to disturb his mortal crewmates, after all! That would be rude. The song is an old one, for those who know Arda and its music, of brighter, more innocent days.

It's impossible to not realize he has no idea he's being observed.}

What are you working on? [His creations have gotten the attention of a curious young woman. She has never seen such fine cloth and craftsmanship.]

{Fingon looks up quickly, humming interrupted and fingers slowing. Then he smiles, somewhat embarrassed.}

A robe for one of my cousins. I hope I did not disturb you, I was not aware I was being watched!

Busy, Finno? (He doesn't necessarily sleep as the humans (or other races/species) sleep, but Maedhros does try to drift into a deep trance each night. It's healing for him and he does not feel his best without it. However some nights are still restless and he always has time for his cousin.)

I won't interrupt you if you are.

{The needle slows and Fingon smiles at him.}

You never interrupt me. You can come to my room though, I could use your help.

I will be there in a moment.

(There is a soft knock on the door - he is aware of the hour - and soon he is letting himself in, smiling softly.)

I'm not good at sewing.

{The door is always open to Maedhros. Fingon ties off one last stitch before standing, holding out what turns out to be the main pieces for a robe.}

Put this on, I want to make sure it fits.

It's...for me? (He flushes and takes the cloth, holding it carefully.) You didn't have to -

(Yet he is already changing into it.)

{Fingon helps him change.} Grandfather brought me the cloth with express orders to use it for you and I. {He hadn't needed the order!

He steps back and studies the lines before humming.}

Turn please. Is it too tight?

(He smiles and laughs quietly.) He does like to spoil us, doesn't he. (Finwë is rather like Fingon. Maedhros doesn't have the heart to deny either of them anything.)

No. (But he is too slender - as Finrod reminds him.) Ingoldo keeps reminding me to eat, so you might need to let it out more.

You have family with you? [Her interest is piqued and she doesn't hide it well.] Is that the traditional dress for your planet?

I am simply grateful he is here with us. {Fingon grins at the laugh. Then steps close again, plucking lightly at certain seams.}

These can be let out easily as you regain weight.

I do! I have three cousins and a grandfather here. {Fingon's happy to talk about his family!}

Oh! Yes. I had never worn clothes quite like the uniforms here before my arrival.

That's... Are you all close? [Family. Family.] Do they look like you?

[So handsome! Rey might sound a little shy because of it.]

I think they're nice.

{Family is important. Fingon's gaze softens, affection clear.} We are.

{A little laugh.} Well, Maitimo has red hair, and Ingoldo has blond, but Kano, Grandfather and I share hair color. But we all share some traits of Grandfather, so I suppose we do look a bit alike. {He's never really thought about it.}

You must be happy to be together. [She is thrilled for them. It's such a nice thing to see so far out in, to her, foreign space.]

I like your names. [The language behind them must be pretty, she thinks.] If you wore your hair that long on Jakku, you would be spending your days picking sand out of it.

[She shrugs and tilts the camera, showing her outfit.]

I put it together myself.

Most of us are on the same ship now! It's nice. {Fingon doesn't mind a full ship. He has the people dearest to him nearby, and sees them often.} Do you have family or friends here?

{He smiles in delight before laughing.} I can hardly imagine cutting my hair, though I would if I had to! {Steering thoughts away from Maedhros after his rescue.

He leans forward, not that in the doing helps him examine her clothes better.} You are from a world covered in sand? I can see how they would protect you.

I'm happy for you. [She realizes that might sound weird, but it's genuine?] Um...no. I don't know my family.

[His laughter chases her sadness away rather quickly and she nods.] I wouldn't want you to, but sand gets in everything.

[Rey sighs.] I'm not going back to it. I was on another planet when the Atroma took me.

Thank you. {Fortunately Fingon accepts her words as they're meant! Though a flash of empathy crosses his face.} I hope you find out about them, if you cannot know them yourself.

It does, I know. {Not that he minds sand, he enjoys walking along beaches!} I would probably wrap it in cloth to protect it, rather than cut any length off. {Like when he'd crossed over ice and death.}

Oh? Can you not return to it later? {Gently} I do not mean to pry. It only sounds like you miss it.

I wish I could. I thought I was on my way to find out about them, but then I was brought here. [It's a tad frustrating.]

I keep mine up and I wear a cloth or a helmet and goggles when I'm on my speeder. [She is rather proud of that vehicle, but it's probably gone by now.]

I don't miss Scavenging, having little food and little water... I was only there because I was waiting for my family to come back. They put me there when I was little.

Since coming here, I have learned that anything is possible. Do not give up hope, and hope will not desert you. You might learn about them here, if not back there!

Your speeder? {Fingon smiles, looking hopeful to learn.}

That had to have been hard. I do not doubt your family would be proud of you.

Yeah, I should keep positive about it. [But she has been waiting ten or eleven years.] I know I won't find them there, so I need to widen my search.

[She smiles faintly.] I built it. It's like a small ship, but it hovers over the sand and it can travel quickly...which explains the name.

[For a moment, she's silent.] I've done my best. I'll keep doing my best. I don't know what they think or feel.

My, what a pleasant tune. You've quite an ear. Though I do wonder what has you up at these hours. Sewing?

I see you are busy, cousin.

Oh! Thank you! My cousin Maglor is better though.

I like to keep busy, and my grandfather brought me a good amount of cloth to work with.
