Who: Anyone who wants to hang on the Iskaulit
Broadcast: nah
Action: Iskaulit mingle, darlings
When: All day every day (at least for the month)

[We're drifting, so it's a perfect time to make use of the many fine establishments on our common ship.]

It's not terribly hard to paint walls one colour. [Art is something he'll never claim to be good at, for all the experimentation with it he did in the past. He can work with metal - anything else he wouldn't know where to start.]

Yes, yes.

Okay, it's a little more complicated than that, but I'll show you.

[She leads him over to the mural. The next section has been prepped, with sections marked off for different colors.] It's just doing the these patches all one color, but they're all different colors. Here's the map for it...

[She offers him a flimsy with everything drawn very neatly, though her handwriting is absolutely atrocious.]

[Erik takes the paper, looking it over while glancing up at the mural wall. It's straightforward enough, even with multiple colours involved. He turns to look at Wrath.]

How long have you had this planned out?

This part? I started working on the sketches before I had that accident. [She's aware that Erik knows all the details about Winter's rampage; it's just habit at this point to refer to it that way.] Then I couldn't really do anything with it while I was in traction, but I got on it again after that.

I've been working on the mural ever since we got the Iskaulit. That's the first panel. [She points to a section of the wall where there's a little bench to sit on, the memorial piece.]

That's quite a while. [Erik vaguely remembers Nightingale's guide, and how long it's been since the Iskaulit entered the Fleet. As projects go, he can see that this one could be ever-evolving, never finished. A good way to occupy one's time.]

I was only planning to do the memorial wall. Because it's not the same as the wall at home, but it's something. But no one seemed to mind, so I kind of... kept going. It's nice getting to work with real paint.

Is there a shortage of real paint where you're from?

[personal profile] pain_train 2016-10-02 04:40 am (UTC)(link)
For a long time I did all my work digital because I was in traction. Then I got used to working with real paint after I got out of the hospital.

...I think that's right. I must have done art before, but I don't remember how that worked. [Shrug.]

Anyway, here the paint's pretty hit or miss, and so is the paper and canvas and stuff. And with space kind of limited, it's better to work in digital anyway.
exothermia: (Oh damn. He's dead.)

[personal profile] exothermia 2016-10-02 04:43 am (UTC)(link)
[He can't really fathom how it works, painting digitally. He's seen digital watches now, and he's had some experience with computers at home. Nothing about them says they could be used for art. He's no expert, though, and things are much more advanced in Wrath's world.]

I see. So, where do you want me to start?

[She points immediately to one section of the flimsy, upper left corner.]

Here's the best place to start. From this row up, since that's what I can't reach really well.
exothermia: (Heading into the black)

[personal profile] exothermia 2016-10-02 07:59 am (UTC)(link)
[Erik nods, and finds the blue paint indicated on the diagram for that part of the wall.]

You said your stepladder went missing?
pain_train: (sideways grin)

[personal profile] pain_train 2016-10-02 10:44 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. I'm pretty annoyed about it.

[But on the bright side, it's given her an opportunity to ask Erik for help, which she thinks is a good thing. She had said to Charles once that if she was going to try to get Erik to do anything artsy, she thought he'd be more interesting in painting than knitting.]

But I guess it's worked out.
exothermia: (Death is another place)

[personal profile] exothermia 2016-10-03 08:42 am (UTC)(link)
[Dipping the brush into the paint, Erik reaches up and begins making broad strokes across the marked area.]

If you can't find it, I can make you another one out of a wall.
pain_train: (Default)

[personal profile] pain_train 2016-10-04 06:27 am (UTC)(link)
Would you? That would be super nice!

...but are there walls people don't need?

[She gets her own paint, which is pale green, and starts on another area.]
exothermia: (Everywhere I go)

[personal profile] exothermia 2016-10-04 09:04 am (UTC)(link)
This ship is full of unused rooms. I doubt anyone will care if I remove some of the panels.

[Erik certainly doesn't care.]
pain_train: (Default)

[personal profile] pain_train 2016-10-07 06:22 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, I guess that makes sense. It might even help people, if they want a bigger room for something. [It still feels like a big deal to paint a wall. The idea of removing one or part of one is bizarre.]

If you do that, can I watch?

[She still hasn't really seen much of Erik's power.]
exothermia: (And upside down again)

[personal profile] exothermia 2016-10-08 05:18 am (UTC)(link)
[He's applying himself to the painting, ensuring the strokes line up with each other, but he glances back at Wrath at her request.]

If you want to. [He's a little bemused, because to him it's a utilitarian action.]

[personal profile] pain_train 2016-10-09 06:36 am (UTC)(link)
I'd really like to. You can do stuff no one else I've ever known can. It's really cool.
exothermia: (Everythin' I hear)

[personal profile] exothermia 2016-10-10 08:49 am (UTC)(link)
I'll do that after we finish here, then.

Okay, awesome!

[She keeps painting steadily. And while they're working, she actually doesn't talk much; she tends to hyper focus on her task.]
