[ Matt hates confetti, there's nothing worse for upsetting his senses than over stimulation. So he stands, waiting for the 'celebration' to pass. He'd only been in the last room (ship?) long enough to be moved along to the next, so now here he was, trying to get his bearing through a snowstorm of flying paper.

Once he does, at least a bit, he can focus on the refreshments. It's clearly party food, which seems safe enough, so he assembles his stick and moves forward. ]

I, uh, hello?

[ He clears his throat. ]

My name's Matt Murdock, and I think you all are expecting me.

[ Later, Matt sits in front of the monitor, dark red glasses covering his eyes. He's calm, but it's clear that he's holding back stronger emotions. ]

If anyone seeing this knows me, I need to know you're here. Suffice to say, I have a few questions.

[Between the name and the dark shades he's wearing something clicks into place and she grows quiet on her end for too long before she speaks again.]

Who do you work for? [Trying to keep her tone in check, but the suspicion is clear enough.]

[ He can hear the shift in her tone, despite her trying to hide it. Though he has no idea why. ]

I know of a blind man named Murdock who worked for Mikhail. The first of his upstarts. [She watches him carefully through the feed, looking for any signals of...anything really.]

I can honestly tell you I have no idea who that is.

What about Apocalypse? Have you heard of mutants?

I want to say yes, but I have a feeling those things mean something different to you than they do to me.

Apocalypse is an immortal mutant who believes in survival of the fittest. It translates to genocide for humans. I'm a mutant.

[She looks him over carefully. No trace of visible cybernetic implants.] You're not him. You might be a version of him, but you're not him. Sorry. [She still sounds a little wary, but she knows how the different worlds things works. There are a lot and anything can be different. McCoy is one of the most unrepentant monsters in her world, but here? Teddy bear. Maybe the things teddy bears find soft and harmless.]

Wow. Yeah, definitely not what I was thinking. I can assure you I have nothing to do with any of that.

[passingthrough]

[She nods before realizing what a pointless gesture that is for him.] I believe you. [Not all of the caution is gone, but she does believe him.]

Do you already know about the multiverse?

[avocadoatlaw]

I'm starting to. Different versions of your reality, right? Something like that?

That's right. Some closer than others. Yours must be very different if there are no mutants. There usually isn't any overlap with that happens. Except with the Avengers. [She will never stop being bothered that Wanda and Pietro aren't mutants.]

[avocadoatlaw]

The Avengers do exist where I come from. I'm starting to see a common thread there.

Are you one? [Because how often do the Atroma bring people who aren't part of the action of a place? And he was a player in her world—human and low level, but enough that she knew of him.]

[avocadoatlaw]

[ Matt's caught off guard by the question, not expecting anyone to ask him anything like that while he's still not letting on to his abilities.

And jury is still out if he thinks making that public here is a good idea. ]

Uh, no? What? Why would you think so?

Because everyone I know from that world is an Avenger except Loki who is...Loki. [She's not sure he's from "that world" of course. It could be another world that has Avengers but not X-Men the way her world has X-Men and not Avengers. And then there are worlds with both. No shortage of worlds.] In places like this the easiest connections are usually right. Not always.

[ Matt nods. ]

Well, I'm not one of them, but I'm very aware of them. It's hard to ignore when you live in New York.

I guess it would be. Vision mentioned an alien invasion there once. What do you do in New York, Matt Murdock?

I'm a lawyer. And yeah, there was an invasion alright. It's the only reason we were able to afford our office space.
