[ Matt hates confetti, there's nothing worse for upsetting his senses than over stimulation. So he stands, waiting for the 'celebration' to pass. He'd only been in the last room (ship?) long enough to be moved along to the next, so now here he was, trying to get his bearing through a snowstorm of flying paper.

Once he does, at least a bit, he can focus on the refreshments. It's clearly party food, which seems safe enough, so he assembles his stick and moves forward. ]

I, uh, hello?

[ He clears his throat. ]

My name's Matt Murdock, and I think you all are expecting me.

[ Later, Matt sits in front of the monitor, dark red glasses covering his eyes. He's calm, but it's clear that he's holding back stronger emotions. ]

If anyone seeing this knows me, I need to know you're here. Suffice to say, I have a few questions.

Hear any familiar voices, yet? [ so she knows he's blind. or, at least, assumes he is because the ada by the same name certainly was. ] Familiar for you?

Sort of. No one I know personally.

[ she's something of a private investigator at heart. she can't help but be nosy. ]

Natasha Romanoff, I think. It could be a coincidence, but we may be from the same New York.

She's not from mine. But she is an Avenger. And a little friendlier than the Romanoff I've met in my New York.

[ ... ] But the real surprise is probably Captain America. The version of him kicking around this place is downright pleasant.

Is he not usually? I think that's sort of his MO where I'm from.

[ladybro]

Sure. I mean -- he's good. And I'd follow him into a lot of crap, you know? But he's a hard-ass. Likes to think his way's better than everyone else's.

[avocadoatlaw]

From what I've heard, I'm not sure that part is different either.

[ladybro]

That so? Maybe I've just been lucky then -- staying in this one's good books. [ ... ] But enough about me. You're the rookie, here. Is there anything I can do? Any questions I can try and answer?

I'm starting to piece it together. But I'm sure I'll have more as I settle in, since it sounds like I'll be here a while.

Maybe. [ ... ] What augment did they give you?

Personnel. Legal. So I have an office and a job I can't imagine I'll ever use.

[ladybro]

I'll tell ya, I have an immense respect for the law. [ ish. ] But I kinda hope your legal services won't have to be used, here. So far, a looseish sorta social contract has been working out okay for us.

Sorta? Did something happen?

The Winter Soldier happened.

[ she's almost cavalier about it, 'cause she's not as close to the situation as the others are. ]

[ The name sounds somewhat familiar, but he isn't sure why. ]

Should I know what that means?

[ladybro]

I have no idea what you're supposed to know, Matt. [ her tone is the equivalent of a shrug. ] What I do know is that this Winter Soldier isn't the same as the one from my version of the world. Maybe he's not even the same one that's in your world, too.

But lemme tell you, the dude probably could've used a lawyer.

[avocadoatlaw]

What did he do? [ a beat ] Allegedly.

[ladybro]

There's no alleged about it. [ ... ] The Atroma got inside his head. He turned on a lot of people -- things got violent.

[ it's less a case of whether the crime happened or not, and more about whether the winter soldier had been truly guilty. ]

How did you all manage to stop him?

[ladybro]

I didn't. I had nothing to do with it -- heard it was some guys from his own ship. [ ... ] I'd wager good money that Captain America was involved, too.

Sounds exciting. And I can't say I'm sorry I missed it.

[ladybro]

Yeah. It shook a lot of people real bad. But honestly? I feel bad for the guy. He wasn't himself. There's gotta be, like, whole reams of legal clauses these days to account for mind control and mystical influence.

[avocadoatlaw]

You have no idea. Or I guess maybe you do.
