5th Shuffle

Who: Remy LeBeau and open.

Action: On the Vanquish, Rogue’s room.

Ahh, [There is some adjusting of the camera before Remy gets it right, balancing it in just a way so he could place it down away from him and still leave it filming. It wasn’t a happy face that appeared on the feed this time around as he took a seat on a bed that wasn’t his own and in a setting that wasn’t his room.] Guess since no one has yet, up to me to break the bad news. Seems Rogue has left.

She, ah, [Oh, this was tough. He had gone around to annoy his best friend, having not had a chance to catch up of late, and had brought his three little annoyances in the form of the kittens along with him to meet her, only to find her room mostly empty of its items and no signs of her.] Well, seems she’s left a few things for people here. Kitty, Kurt, Clay, Winter, Loki. [He moves to pick the camera up again, turning it around onto the selection on the bed, including several books, a makeup set, her mpc player, a necklace. Some items have a note on them, others don’t.] I’ve kinda gathered them up ‘nd left them on her bed for ya’ll to pick up when ya able to.

[The camera turns back to him again as he throws on a smile, but it is rather forced, the angle of the camera showing Rogue's guitar she had gotten from the gifting tree resting over his legs.] Hopefully she’s gone back home ‘nd... well, not got caught up in ‘ny of this again. And, hey, she’s got a good home to go back to, I know, ‘ve seen her future. She does a lot of good work, really does her team proud, 'nd helps a lot of people out. Hell, saves the whole world. Kinda hard to beat that for a welcome home party.

_{[ He figured it would be awhile before the other came over, and that was fine. It gave him time to straighten up a bit and run over to the Iskaulit to grab a bottle for them to drink. He had heard the forced humor, the very same he used himself when he didn't want to give away how hurt he was by something.

When Remy came he huffed in amusement at the sight of the cats, and went to the kitchen to fetch milk and a bowl for them. He placed it in the corner for them to drink from in his room. The cats' comfort seen to, he turned his attention to Remy, tugging him inside and keying the door closed. ]}

Hey.

_{[ He glanced at the guitar and smiled. ]}

Planning to serenade me tonight, are you?

I try, cherie, I try. [Though on a more serious note with that all.] Promise, won't actually get drunk durin' shift, [Then a moment to think.] Nothin' more than I normally do, at least.

She's not dead, mon ami, she's out there somewhere. And you know whoever she's around is in for a hell of a lot more trouble than she will be.

But I'll never see her again, will I? Even if another Rogue shows up, she won't be the one we know and we'll be freakshow mirrors of the people she knows.

I have done this before. The world I traveled to before this had a Rogue, too.

[She grins.] Well, that's all I can ask.

You guys came from the same world, huh?

It's as good as any of us can have, by the sounds of what the different universes be like. But she got a good family group 'round her, she does really well. [Really, Hank was right, trouble seemed to follow those with 'super powers'. Although it's kind of nice it wasn't just happening to mutants.]

Want me to leave the book 'nd note here for ya? I can give it to Charles next time I see him to drop off to ya, if ya want.

[Oh...] Yeah, I see your point. [That wasn't something Remy had taken the moment to think about. What if 'Rogue' showed up again but... it wasn't her? That, yeah, even thinking of that stung.]

Is it bad to say I don't want that to happen? [He and Rogue had such a chunk of history together now, between the Fleet and Luceti, a lot of ups and downs. A LOT of ups and downs... To think she would appear, a similar face but with no knowledge of what they had been through. Remy didn't like that idea for a moment. Hell, what if she showed up before this all, when he was with the Acolytes, just after they had ambushed the X-Men? He wouldn't be some annoyance who had kidnapped her to help save his father, he would be her enemy again, and that thought of falling back into that part of the past left a very bitter taste in his mouth.] Kind of rather she stays gone.

[Oh, yeah, the guitar. Remy's smile slipped a little but wasn't completely lost as he let the cats pad around the room and get settled into the surroundings they knew rather well by now.] Ah, maybe another time, when I've learnt to play it. It was the item Rogue left for me. [And which he let rest very carefully against a wall, almost able to hear her voice threaten him if he dared to get even a single scratch on her guitar.]

That's... a nice way of puttin' it, oui. [But even with that comment Remy was able to smile, knowing it was a good way to describe her but even with her gone (...gone) he couldn't help but joke about Rogue. It was too natural between them, easily falling into jokes and making fun of one another, even if the other wasn't around.] She a very capable femme, 'nd very practical. Donno what ya goin' to put the set to use on, but she certainly the type to gift such items.

Yeah, different times, but yeah. We were also stuck together in the last, multi universe, group therapy session, so we been through a bit. [More so for Rogue, who certainly had grown up over the many years she had been away from home. She was a veteran compared to the coming up three years Remy had been shuffled between the two groups.] Hell, she probably happy to get rid of me after that long.

[Looking up from the com at the moment at the door, Remy barely had time to lean out of the way of that projectile necklace, his gaze staying on Loki as he moved to leave. He opened his mouth to... what? Offer some sort of comfort or apology that the man's girlfriend had just vanished into thin air? Yeah, that... that didn't somehow suit, partly because they had never seen eye to eye, and also because Loki hardly was the type to take such words. He was too wrapped up in spikes and armor that Remy doubted anything he would have to say would penetrate it. Hell, the best he would get would be silence back, or a snide comment. The worse, well, the 'god' might try and zap him or something.

So Remy let him leave without a comment, instead keeping his guard over the item until they had gotten their new homes.]

He waited for Remy to set the guitar aside before stepping in close,
reaching up and resting a hand on his shoulder. It was an invitation and an
escape at the same time - the implicit offer of as much comfort as the
other wanted, or the choice to draw away and deal with it another way.

Make yourself comfortable. I picked out something smooth tonight. I hope that's okay?

I'm sure I'll find a use. [ a beat. kate sits back, considering the gift. ] Maybe it's a message. To go have more fun. Get into more trouble.

...Luceti, right? Heard that place was kinda nasty in comparison to here. [She quirks a grin.] From personal experience, I don't know. I appreciate people being here that have been stuck in more than one place with me. It feels like they know where you're coming from.

[The fact Rogue won't remember either place now is kind of... something she won't bring up.]

It was... non, let's go with 'nasty', that's both the best 'nd nicest way to describe it. [The Fleet was a cake walk compared to Luceti, even if issues did come up on the planets or even on the ships. At least they hadn't gone to war, yet.]

Yeah, ya right. After all, misery loves company, non?

Now that, I can always get behind. [A wide grin spread across his face.] Life far too short to always take the safe path, or the legal path. [Maybe he wasn't the best person to be getting such advice from, not on this topic at least.]

[Don't worry Kirk, Remy wouldn't hold it against him. Dieu knows the number of times Remy has slipped over his own poor choice of wording in sensitive times.

His arm looped around Kirk's waist as he moved in, throwing on a smile and falling back on humor. It was such an easy way to deal with things, to forget an issue, even if just for a moment, with a joke.] But cher, ya always ok, when ya bein' smooth or not.

[She nods.] You're right. I'm just going to miss her. [And she knows Remy is too. She's not sure what the full extent of their relationship is, but she can't help thinking about how much her version loved Rogue even if it didn't work out for him.]

I'll come by to get the things she left me later.

I kinda agree. At least, I agree on the safe path. As for the legal path? Well -- kinda depends on the stakes. [ ... ] I've got my reputation to uphold, after all.

Nein. [He can't agree, being as he'd do almost anything to see his Rogue again, but he can understand.

With that in mind:] Remy, you realize you will see her again, ja? You're of the same world, she'll be there when you find your way home. [Unless she dies in the meantime. Kurt would like to think only his world would be so cruel, but in the one he'd traveled to, their Nightcrawler had died and left his sister behind to mourn him.]

Rogue will, but she won't. [Admitting that brought about a whole new lot of pain, at the fact it was true and that he was saying it. It was so much easier just to ignore it, shove it into a dark little box to rot away, rather than let it see light.] And neither will I be.

We weren't friends back home. At best I'm some asshole who she helped out after I kidnapped her and made her believe she was in control of it the whole time while I was pulling the strings. At worse, I'm her enemy, one of Magneto's goons. When I get back there it will be like none of the three years I've been around her would had happened. We'll be strangers again.

Ya say that, but all depends if there others from ya world who would tattle tale on ya for not livin' up to it, non? If no one knows, it don't count. [Nope, no maybe about it, he was certainly not the best person to get such advice from.] Tell ya what, provided our next stop has locks that require pickin', sure we can find something fun to do then. 'nd will try 'nd keep it as legal as possible.

It counts. It counts 'cause the only other person from my version of the world who knows anything about me is such a walking disaster that I gotta tout our rep for the two of us. [ team hawkeye, yo. ]

Sounds about right.

You'll see her again when you go home, right...?

So we do all lose memory of this time when we're sent back. I'd wondered if it was universal. [And, knowing this, if such memories could be unearthed by a strong enough telepath. It's a moot point for him, he's a dead man walking. But if Remy's world has a Jean..]

Would it ease your mind if I told you that, in every world I've seen with a version of my sister, a version of you was dear to her? [He doesn't bat an eye at the rest of it; the reason he's taken so quickly to this Remy is his resemblance to the one he fought along-side.]
