[Wanda's presence, both in the Fleet's comms and aboard its vessels, has dwindled, slowly but surely, over the course of the past month. There was period of time, around the beginning of the month, when she couldn't be found or reached at all--save for by Misty, Vision and Pietro. More perceptive fleet members might recall that her disappearance occurred around the time that rumors of a dragon and its rider terrorizing Solrius were circulating about. However, she did pop back up a little while later, seemingly as though nothing was wrong. However, those that know her well may have picked up the subtle tells that there was something she was not saying. Something that she was trying to bury. And so, she became more and more scarce around the Fleet. At least, until now...]

What do you think happens after death?

[The message is short and simple. Anyone familiar with the festivities of the month of October, perhaps this is simply her way of trying to get into the spirit of things?]

Starstruck - Action

[Friends and shipmates of Wanda's, if they want to go looking for her, will find her either holed up in her bunkroom aboard the Starstruck, or in a corner of the ship's kitchen or shuttle bay at times she thinks no one would typically wander in. By the look on her face, it is clear something is troubling her.]

Even if it isn't good, what is your answer?

It's complicated, I guess? How cliche is that. But I can't accept that death is the end. Not when I've learned about too many people who've come back from it.

[ just...not always the ones you really really want to see again. ]

They came back from dying?

[ careful, katie. at least this conversation is happening via text. she can be a little more tight-lipped about it. ] Happened to one of my best friends.

[There's a pause before Wanda's next response.]

How did they come back?

The asshole who killed her grew a conscience. Magicked her back into existence with the last bit of power he had.

[ truthfully, the scarlet witch had a lot to do with cassie's death as well. but kate sticks to the barer elements. ]

Her killer brought her back? Why?

[Kate had said he, whoever he is, "grew a conscience." But that wasn't enough of an answer to satisfy Wanda's curiosity.]

Trying to make amends? I don't know. Why does Doctor Doom do anything. The man's a force onto himself.

[As much as the name "Doctor Doom" intrigues Wanda, she doesn't press on him further.]

Were you there when she was brought back?

Nope. But I visited her as soon as I could. She never told me about -- about going anywhere, or about being anywhere else. For her, I think it was like being a light. Switched off. Switched on.

[There's a long pause before the next question.]

She didn't mention feeling any pain?

Not to me. Doesn't mean she didn't feel it.

[Another pause, but not quite as long this time.]

Did she say anything about what it was like?

Not much. Why are you so curious?

[A long pause this time.]

I'm sorry.

You don't have to respond if you don't want to.

I've got nothing to hide. [ liar. but clint wanted an eye kept on wanda, so... ]

But if you're the one who doesn't want to answer, I'm good with that too.

It's not that. I--

[Her message cuts off there. The public feed goes dead. However, it's only a short pause until Wanda has opened a private feed to Kate.]

Private: Kate, I--

Something's happened.

...What kind of something?

[She doesn't want to freak Kate out, but she knows she can't leave things in the air now.]

I think it's best if you see for yourself.

You want me to come to you? [ which ship is wanda even on? kate doesn't know. ] Or you could join me here on the Blameless.

[ ... ] Your call.

[Wanda knows she's being an inconvenience, suggesting Kate should see her in person and then asking for Kate to come to her. Given her current state though, she's not comfortable other people seeing her.]

I'm on the Starstruck. I can meet you in the shuttle bay.

Do you guys do coffee on the Starstruck, or should I bring my own?
