[Wanda's presence, both in the Fleet's comms and aboard its vessels, has dwindled, slowly but surely, over the course of the past month. There was period of time, around the beginning of the month, when she couldn't be found or reached at all--save for by Misty, Vision and Pietro. More perceptive fleet members might recall that her disappearance occurred around the time that rumors of a dragon and its rider terrorizing Solrius were circulating about. However, she did pop back up a little while later, seemingly as though nothing was wrong. However, those that know her well may have picked up the subtle tells that there was something she was not saying. Something that she was trying to bury. And so, she became more and more scarce around the Fleet. At least, until now...]

What do you think happens after death?

[The message is short and simple. Anyone familiar with the festivities of the month of October, perhaps this is simply her way of trying to get into the spirit of things?]


Starstruck - Action

[Friends and shipmates of Wanda's, if they want to go looking for her, will find her either holed up in her bunkroom aboard the Starstruck, or in a corner of the ship's kitchen or shuttle bay at times she thinks no one would typically wander in. By the look on her face, it is clear something is troubling her.]

I spent some time in a place like this.

[ALSO A PAUSE.]

Died a couple times. But there was a resurrection system. So I'm not sure it's the same as a more permanent death.

[Well, that and he died for real once, but that's clearly neither here nor there.]

["A place like this..." So he was another one who'd been pulled into other realities like the Fleet. And he had apparently died multiple times there, too? She'd heard that some of these other places were dangerous, more than the Fleet, but this certainly put things into perspective.]

A resurrection system?

Death wasn't permanent. If you died, there was a system in place to bring you back, same as you were before.

I don't remember anything in the gaps.

How did this system work?

I never figured out all of the mechanics. Unfortunately.

[Because he really, really would have loved to know, honestly. Also because it would have either confirmed his fears or set them at rest, and now he'll never know either way.]

On the surface, it functioned a little bit like a video game would. There were these creatures you could talk to, and once you did that they hypothetically "saved" your...data, I guess. It never made a lot of sense. If you died, you'd be returned to life in the same state you were when you last encountered the creatures.

[Then there's a pause again.]

It functioned similarly if you didn't go through the process of talking to them, though. The system was just a little more flawed.

I don't understand. There were two systems then?

I don't think so. Same system, but if the "save points" were a genuine feature, then not using them probably hampered the results slightly. A longer wait time between dying and being brought back and the healing was imperfect.

...Sorry, this doesn't really answer your question anyway.

I came back with wounds, so those hurt. But the actual act of coming back, I don't think so.

Why that specific part?

I think the conversation probably started being morbid after I admitted to dying.

I'm fine. It was a while ago.

[Which is....a lie, he's not fine, but he also isn't too deeply scarred by bringing the memories up. It's been over a year and he has deeper wounds than those anyway.]
