[Having been unconscious for two weeks, when Bigby woke up he had promptly decided to take a couple of days to sleep it off. It's only now, after a shower and some food that he bothers to take to the comm.

He's in the shuttle bay, where his massive bulk fits best.]

I was thinking about starting some kind of immortals evening. Get together. Bitch about how things have changed over the last couple of centuries. Commiserate with others who get the whole 'living for fucking ages' thing, if that's what floats your boat.

Just finding it weird, being surrounded by so many mortals. Fables keep themselves to themselves. No point making friends with mortals for us. Anyone interested?

It's a little rodent thing. Sometimes, when their numbers get really high, they seem to go insane and charge off on suicidal trips, only to drop dead from exhaustion. It's bizarre.

Yeah, that sounds kinda like me. Except for the dying part.

Yeah, except for that. But the crazy lack of survival instinct... Lemmings sometimes hurl themselves off cliffs, or swim out to sea.

Yeah, that's good. For a start, I don't think you can swim, so you'd just walk along the bottom of the ocean.

... Sascha, you don't need to breathe.

... probably not. I mean, to talk, yes, but you can't die. Your body isn't alive. You need to breathe to live.

[ Sascha lifts his head to look up past the paw pushes gently into his face, confused. ]

[Bigby spreads his toes so Sascha can peer through them.]

You're not alive like humans are. I don't need to breathe either.

[ He'll get a nice good look at the way Sascha flinches when Bigby brings up the S-word, clutching just a bit more tightly to the wolf's fur and ducking. ]

But...I'm not dead. Right? Dead things don't move.

Dunno.

Some dead things do. But they're not dead like mortals are dead. Ghosts. Zombies. Ghouls.

Vampires.

[He squeezes his paw slightly, toe beans tucking over Sascha's shoulders so his chest fits into the space between the main paw pad and his toes.]

You're not dead. You're just not alive like most things are. I'm still pretty sure you don't need to breathe.

[pneumo]

[ It's a dream come true and actually manages to make Sascha perk up a little bit as he buries his fingers into the thick fur, the side of his face pressed against one toe. ]

...D'you think I can die? [ he doesn't mean to suggest he wants to, he most certainly doesn't. But he has wondered if it's even possible, after witnessing so many other people succumb to the things he just gets up from and walks away. ]

[Bigby hums, low and thoughtful.]

I don't know. I mean... there's probably ways. But they'd have to be pretty extreme. Like... firing you into a star.

[pneumo]

I don't really want to get shot into a star.... [ being out in open space seems scary enough, all that floating forever with no way to stop... Ick. ]

I'm not saying we should. Just that if you can die, it'd probably take something like that. Star. Black hole. Something.

[pneumo]

What about you? You're way tougher than I am...

Same, probably.

Been told silver would kill me. Maybe being beheaded by a magic axe. But I was shot up with silver once. Hurt like fuck, but didn't kill me. Didn't even scar.

[pneumo]
