To preserve what they could and to heal what might still be healed. I suspect a little too late, but better that they try, for one never knows. The one after that... ah, but I miss that one. There was a sea there, a great ocean that seemingly stretched forever, and great green woods. More friendly than this one. And the world after was also interesting - the folk there had split into three groups, all suspicious of each other, although they had more in common than they had different.

[He focuses his energy, drawing power from the air as a glowing circle forms beneath his feet - it's so easy here, like being at a seal or near the Tree - but not so much so that it overwhelms his control. Once he has enough, the spell starts wanting to crystallize as it always does, and he guides it into shape:] O wings of power, thy feathers strike true!

[For a moment, an enlarged afterimage of his wings appears superimposed upon them, three times the size of the actual wings themselves.] Angel Feathers! [Glowing pink blades of the same light mana that makes up the wings shoot forth, each one impacting the increasingly-scorched rock in turn. It's over in seconds, the mana buildup fading along with the visual effects of the spell. Yuan surveys his work in satisfaction.]

...Looks like that's working correctly, too. Good.

That was my thought, as well. [He tilts his head at Eithan, wondering about the etiquette of asking exactly what someone is, and decides against it.] I was hoping for somewhere I could track down a source of all this mana, or at least a clear idea of how the energy flows work...no luck so far.

It can. It depends on how strong a planet's magnetic field is, as well as the density and make-up of its atmosphere, among other things. Or if could be something with the trees. Perhaps they give off electric currents, or something else.

Won't know unless we go down and find out, right?

Sorey hauls himself up onto the little island with the crystal and starts looking for chinks in its surface to chip off pieces.] So, um, that new power thing, is that how it works? You combine elements with your weapon and hit people with it?

Well, I use my staff to fight even without magic, but yeah. As far as I can tell, what I do somehow... loads the spell into my staff. And then my physical attack is essentially replaced by the spell? I need to do a lot more testing. But I can tell you for sure that Fire 3 is my strongest spell used this way.

... Except maybe Quake, but Quake is a fucking stupid spell.
