Well, I use my staff to fight even without magic, but yeah. As far as I can tell, what I do somehow... loads the spell into my staff. And then my physical attack is essentially replaced by the spell? I need to do a lot more testing. But I can tell you for sure that Fire 3 is my strongest spell used this way.

... Except maybe Quake, but Quake is a fucking stupid spell.

Why's Quake a stupid spell? [Ah, there's a crack. Sorey wiggles the edge of his hunting knife into it and tries to force the crystal apart. Nightingale always talks about artes and things like that so strange, like everything's categorized. No matter how many times Sorey hears it, he can't get used to it.]

It's the single strongest spell I know by a long shot in terms of damage output.

It hits an area, rather than targeting, so it hits allies and enemies alike. And that area is centered on the person who cast the spell.

... Would it be too much to ask for as much as you can carry? I don't know if we're ever going to find a planet this suited for this again, and if one staff breaks, it would be best to have spares...

Nah, that's a good idea. We won't know when we'll ever be in a position like this again where we can get some. [Plus he's only gonna take shards that are already fallen or cracking off, just in case this planet's sentient.
