[it's the singing that draws her attention, and curiosity has her poking through the trees to follow it. Purposely stepping where she can be heard, as it grows darker habit has her holding her hand palm up to cast a simple light spell -

Until she comes across Finwe and sees that it isn't all that necessary. She blinks, before she tilts her head, confused]

I do not know if singing in the middle of the forest a good idea, sir.

There is nothing to fear at the moment. [Finwe assured her with a gentle smile, a hand on the nearest tree, not at all startled by her approach.]

I hoped soothe the forest, the trees here are not at peace. [He had been listening closely the deeper he got into the forest, trying to figure out where it was coming from.]

[she's about to make a smartass comment, but Finwe mentions the trees and that stops her in her tracks. She frowns, but nods her agreement, glancing to his hand on the tree]

No, they aren't. I have felt it, too. Have they told you why?

No, I hoped to get an answer by coming out here but so far nothing different has changed.

[He was curious to as to how she felt it, she seemed human but he had been learning that even mortals here possessed magic.] You can hear the trees as well? What do they tell you?

[she considers him for a moment before she reaches up to push her hood back, and then her hair behind her ear in answer; it's pointed like an elf's, but not as big]

That they are wary, watching. [she faintly shakes her head] But that is all I can make out. I cannot hear them as well as others can.

[He smiled as he saw her pointed ears though she was unlike the Elves of Valinor. But it didn't matter, he still gave her a respectful bow of his head.] It is a pleasure to meet another Elf.

[she inclines her head as well, at least remembering her manners, before she reaches back to pull her hood up. It's mostly habit, to hide herself after revealing as much]

I am Finwe, I am one of the Noldor. [Perhaps she was one of the Gray Elves, he had never thought it was possible for mortals and Elves to produce children but he wouldn't look down on her either way.]

There are different kinds of Elves- Noldor are my people but there are three other types of Elves that I know of.

I see . . . there are different kinds where I am from as well. I do not know how many, though; they do not speak of what kind they are outside of their own.

Four of my grandsons are here, we would welcome you as one of our kin if you should wish. [Finwe offered with a kind smile. Blood didn't matter, he didn't want Tempest to feel cut off as a fellow Elf.]

[surely she misheard that. It wasn't as if she hadn't heard that before, but that had come from family - and even then, their village may not feel the same]

We may not be from the same world or related from blood but kin is more than that. The offer is always open, my grandsons will also welcome anyone with open arms.

[Finwe may have failed his family but he knew his grandsons very well.]

That is - a very kind offer, but we have only just met. And I do not know your grandsons.

The offer still stands nonetheless. And you should meet them! I know I am biased as their grandfather but they are all so sweet and kind. [Finwe can't help but brag, pride in his voice. They all turned out so well.]

I - will endeavor to try? I do not . . . ah. I'm bad with people. [as taken back as she is, she wrinkles her nose a little and tries to . . . pull the tone of out of her voice. She does manage to sound genuinely apologetic, at least]

The elves of my world are very different from you and yours, with a few exceptions, so you will have to excuse me if I seem a bit - confused.

I understand, have no fear. My grandsons are understanding as well, you cannot offend them or go wrong. [He assured her gently. They didn't judge and Finwe was patient. He would still look after as much as he could.]

You and your grandsons both are very kind. [she would consider the offer, as seriously as she considered everything else. Moreso after she met his grandsons. She still hadn't fully accepted the one she had received back home, either]

Maedhros, Maglor, Finrod, and Fingon. [He knew them by different names but it was a matter of language. He had learned their new names though easily enough and it was what they preferred.]

Maedhros is tall with copper red hair. Maglor, his younger brother, is more quiet until you ask him for a song. He is the most talented bard I know. Finrod has his father's golden shine and Fingon is brave as any I've ever met.

[He's a proud grandpa and it's clear in his voice as he speaks of his grandsons.]

[at least, him being a proud grandpa has put her at ease, after that initial offer. She even finds herself smiling a bit]

I imagine they will be easy to pick out, if they are as tall as you. [her cousin stood well over six foot, and her uncle even taller, but the ones here were the tallest she's ever seen. She lifts a hand to gesture to the ears] These also help a great deal.

You sound very proud of them, though.

Maedhros is even taller than I am, he has trouble on the ships since they are so cramped for him. So certainly can't miss him.

[Finwe laughed softly as she pointed to hear ears, nodding.]

I am very proud. They have grown up to be so brave, kind, and selfless. They are the best of their parents and have remained loyal to each other no matter what.

Is that normal? For your kind to be so tall? My cousin is an elf and he is rather tall, but . . . he is tiny compared to you.

[she tilts her head, taking in what he says and nodding, considering. If they were as he said, then maybe she really would seek them out. If anything, it would be good for her]

Those are very important traits to have.

It is, my grandson Maedhros is the tallest of anyone in the family so he's special in that regard.

[He chuckled fondly, nodding.]

They are- I couldn't be more happy of what they have done. And they have done so well here so please, call on them if you ever are in need.

His offer once again strikes her off-guard, but after a moment she inclines her head, agreeing. She likely won't - not if she's in need, as she's always been one to handle her own problems herself, but - it's nice, that if she wanted to, she could branch out]
