[Belthazar is being laughed at. This is not the reaction he expected, and as Zaveid goes on, Belth just... continues to redden. His ears flatten against his dark hair. He's equal parts embarrassed and frustrated, and he doesn't know which one to listen to.]

S-s-stop laughing! This is very serious business!

[oh my god]

[ He's doing his best to calm down and, though it takes a few moments, Zaveid shakes his head, pushing his hair out of his face as he breathes out. ]

Kid. You ever meet a seraphim before?

[Seraphim. Where has he heard that--]

Ah... I-I've met Mikleo, um, a few times. A nature spirit, yes? I can't say I know all the details.

[airily]

Huh. Jeez, he really gets around, doesn't he?

[ But that's not the point - he waves a hand, absently. ]

We don't eat.

[Belth squints.]

... But... but he cooks?

[HE'S SO CONFUSED]

How can you cook without eating?!

We don't need to eat. Not really something our bodies work on.

[ He just smiles. ]

Eating is just... Fun sometimes.

[Belth is trying to process this information. His annoyance is quickly giving way to curiosity, though.]

So, then-- what happens to the food you do eat? Does it get converted into mana? Hold on. [He flips open his notebook.] Would you say your mana is of a specific element? Do you ever get too full? What about gaining weight? Do you still have likes and dislikes? Does anything taste terrible to you? Are you lactose intolerant? What about eating meat?

[ He's just... Staring, a little... Lost for a moment. ]

I dunno, I never really thought about it. [ His hand lands on his chin as he thinks about it. ] I'm a Wind Seraph, so, sure, I'm that element. [ He's trying to find an answer to all these questions, but it's a mess. ] Everyone's got likes and dislikes, right? Milk and meat are fine, and I usually just eat whatever Mikleo makes us.

[Poor Zaveid. But he makes an attempt to answer Twenty Questions, so he gains some points in Belth's eyes. He scribbles down some notes.]

That doesn't surprise me. His desserts are very, very good. So seraphim do not need to eat-- what about sleeping? Elves can go a while without sleep, but three days is about my limit.

[Hold on.]

[ He's doing his best to be polite, probably bolstered by how happy and content he feels here on the planet. ]

Nah, don't need to sleep, either. We can, if we want to, but it's not going to do us any harm.

[ He raises an eyebrow, then laughs. ]

[ He glances down to look at his trousers and the belts around his wrist. ]
