If the predators on this planet are as big as the prey then a weapon that small really isn't going to help you much.

It will if I throw it straight into their heart. [He wouldn't even bother with his knife, truth be told. It would be the collection of screws in his pockets, grazing against his fingers even now. The knife he tends to keep for other reasons.]

[That makes him tense a bit automatically, expression growing pinched for a moment. He's killed too much, too recently, to be casual about it.]

[That pinched look makes her smile turn distinctly shark-like, amused by what seems like remorse. It's not a sentiment that Gemini herself wastes any time on.]

They're certainly larger than normal, probably still harder to kill than a person though. [She says it almost casually as if discussing the weather, just to rattle him a little.]

I have no doubt about that. [Regular people are easy to dispatch, if you know where to hit them. His discomfort passes quickly; no matter his feelings on what happened recently, killing isn't unfamiliar to him. He's an old hand at it.]

[She's wonderfully secure in herself - it's what he likes to see, in those gifted with power. A bit up close for comfort, given how easily she hid in plain sight, but still worthy of appreciation.]

Similar perhaps. [But not as good, her tone says, and there's a definite hint of arrogance in her smile.]

You have gifts yourself? [It's a guess, but not entirely uneducated going by the way the stranger carries himself.]

[He wouldn't dare comment, least of all because he doesn't know the extent of her abilities. Being able to transform into animals isn't something he's as familiar with, besides his own long-forgotten skill gained elsewhere.]

[Gemini's already had a conversation that established that mutant and metahuman were essentially differing words for the same thing so she nods understandingly, settling herself down on another tree stump and pulling up a leg so she can rest her chin on her knee.]

That's an impressive gift. There's someone from my world who can do that too, never met him though. [It's clear from her tone that she'd like a demonstration.]

Mutants were all so different, but even with some like Jean and Charles having similar powers... he's always thought of himself as one of a kind. But it's another universe, so it doesn't much count.

In response to the unspoken question, Erik removes his hand from his pocket, holding up a screw on his palm. Within a second, it's shot off at speed, and there's a distant thunk as it embeds itself in a tree.]

Very neat. Can you do that with all metals or just the magnetic ones? This one for example.

[She pulls a hand from behind her back and in it is what appears to be a small box made of silver. Or at least it looks like silver, feels like silver but is actually just reshaped rubber. Gemini can't resist playing that trick on him.]

[He glances at the box, and notes that he can't feel it. However that's not so unusual for him; he's run into metal in the Fleet more than once that is outside of his scope. Silver is a material he never does much with either.]

The magnetic ones are easier.

[She turns it over in her hand to reveal the slight rust marks she'd just created. There's a slyness to her smile that suggests she's playing with him.]

[He glances at the rust marks, frowning slightly. But when he looks back to Gemini, he merely inclines his head.]

Yes, well. Looks can be deceiving. [As they both well know. Nothing in her attitude suggests the question was made in pure innocence. He's not one to assume as much either.]

That they can. [She smirks, and flicks her hand and the case dissolves back into it with a faintly liquid slither.]
