[ Eithan's own senses pick up on something approaching him, and perk yet again when whatever it is gets closer. But when he turns to look, he... wasn't expecting a blue-haired guy with a lightning ball. Hunh... Though he starts out a little on edge himself, he relaxes when he isn't immediately attacked. ]

Nope. Not outdoorsy enough for that, usually. [ He cracks a bit of a smile, then his eyes flick down to the crackling energy in Yuan's hands. ] Nice spell.

[A wry smile in return.] What, this old thing? Hardly my best work, but it packs enough stun to cover a quick retreat. [With that said, he closes his hand and lets it wink out.]

I'm guessing you're from the fleet, too. Find anything interesting out here?

[ Hey! Sense of humor, that's a plus. ]

Not yet, still lookin'. This place is practically burstin' with magic, there's gotta be somethin' worth findin', you know?

[Yuan thinks so, though others might find it debatable.]

That was my thought, as well. [He tilts his head at Eithan, wondering about the etiquette of asking exactly what someone is, and decides against it.] I was hoping for somewhere I could track down a source of all this mana, or at least a clear idea of how the energy flows work...no luck so far.

Huh. I didn't really think about lookin' for an actual source, the way it just seems like it's all over everywhere... [ He thinks about that for a second. ] Think maybe if there is one singular source, it might be hidin' in plain sight?

[ Because there sure is enough mana everywhere for that, geez. ]

It's...honestly, I don't know. Where I come from, there would be a source, but I don't remember how it felt when- [Whoops, that train of thought is getting too close to personally-relevant memories.] ...never mind that.

I don't know for sure, but if there was a way to find it, we might be able to understand more about this world. [He shrugs.] ...It's all I really have to go on.

[ Ah, that seems like it almost turned personal. Well, he can keep it navigated away from that! No problem. ]

Interestin'... See, where I come from, there's no central source - it's just kinda this low sort of hum everywhere. There are some places or people that give off more, though. That's why this planet's so weird to me. And, it's why I totally agree with you. I really wanna get to the bottom of this. Just not really sure where to start, it's all so strong - like it's drownin' out everything else.

[ Oh dear goddess he has a nerd button. And he's embracing it. What has Belth turned him into he become. ]

I agree. I've been exploring to see if I can find a place where it's thinner or denser - get a feel for the flow of energy, or even elemental concentrations. [He shakes his head.] ...But right now the strongest aura of any particular element around here is you, and the mana density is pretty uniform. I'd like to get deeper into the woods, but I'm concerned about monster attacks. [From his tone, monster attacks are a mundane nuisance to be guarded against.]

[ He sighs and nods, clearly in agreement about the nuisance aspect. ]

Yeah, I've already dealt with a pissed-off bear. [ And a pissed-off lady at the same time, but that's irrelevant. ...He thinks. ] Don't wanna do it again, but I've kinda resigned myself to the fact that I'm probably gonna.

Wanna go together? Safety in numbers, or somethin' like that?

[ because two mages totally make a good party... ]

[A slight smirk, and Yuan nods.] Sounds like a plan to me.

[He starts leading the way toward the edge of the clearing.] ...Do you have a weapon? Part of my caution is that they took my sword when I arrived.

[ Eithan nods as he pulls a long dagger out of his coat. He offers it to Yuan, hilt forward. ]

They took my staff when I arrived... Haven't found a good replacement, so I've just started carryin' knives with me. Best I've got. You're welcome to this one, if you want it.

[Yuan takes it, inspecting it carefully. He was only checking to see if his companion was armed, but as long as he's offering, well...]

Beggars can't be choosers, I suppose. Thank you. [He slips it into his belt carefully, and lets his cloak fall to cover it.]

...So you must be a mage yourself, then? [Commenting on spellwork, feeling like mana, and wielding a staff = mage, surely.]

Hey, no problem. [ Better than nothing, at least? ]

Yeah, I am. Fire element, explosive focus. [ He smiles, a little. As much as he despises the Order, he's still proud of his magic. ] Oh, uh, my name's Eithan, by the way. What about you?

Yuan. It's good to meet you. [Realizing he should have asked Eithan's name sooner...this place must have him more off-guard than he thought.]

'Explosive focus'? That's not something I'm familiar with where I come from.

Yeah, I haven't found anyone here yet who is. Probably a world thing. [ He shrugs. ] It's like... personal use. All fire mages can make flames. But unless they feel and use their magic like I do? Theirs won't be as volatile as mine. Couldn't detonate things easy like I could, either.
