Oh wow, really? I wonder why that is... [Sorey rubs his chin.] I didn't feel sick, really, just weightless. Which I guess is how it's supposed to work.

Still, whether or not you can use it on yourself, you can still do something incredible! I think it's really neat! [claps her on the back!!!]

[She reddens at once, hunching her shoulders a bit. His enthusiasm is so genuine, it's impossible to object. And hey, she can accept the compliment graciously.]

U-um, thank you! I'm sure you've got cool things you can do, too.

[She still doesn't know much about him or his world, but... well, he has friends who can turn into dragons, so that's unusual, right!?]

Well...I guess they're more like skills? Stuff that I taught myself, or somehow acquired; not really anything I was born with. Are Quirks like that? [Sorey got the impression they were specific powers, but he's never really asked.

C'mon let's go exploring while we chat tho, INTO THE WILD GREEN YONDER]

[Ochako follows him without hesitation, eyes bright as she takes in their surroundings. Everything's so pretty...]

No, Quirks are like... powers just suddenly developed in people, and over the years it happened more and more, until now it's more rare to not have powers. It's kind of random, though- we don't know why it started happening or why a certain person gets a certain power.

[monolike]

Huh, that sounds really mysterious. But you know, there's actually a lot of origin legends and creation stories that are like that. [Climbs up over a mossy log and crouches, offering her a hand up.]

[willynilly]

[She accepts his hand with a smile, letting him pull her the rest of the way up.]

Yeah... people argue all the time back home about that sort of thing. Everybody has their own ideas about why anything happens.

That's the kind of stuff I like to think about! Especially when talking about ancient history, because there's usually so few records, so you have to fill in the blanks a lot. [The foliage around them gets bigger and darker, and that pawing feeling comes back but Sorey's experienced it so often by now that it's easy to ignore.]

[willynilly]

[On the flipside, this is all pretty new to Ochako, and as they get deeper into the woods - and start to become more and more smothered by the massive trees - she can't help but creep a bit closer to Sorey as they walk. It's so she doesn't end up losing sight of him! ...Mostly.]

Well... it's definitely not ancient history yet, but it's been several generations since it all started.

[yeah lets buddy system this shit, this planet is being weird af. c'mere, link arms with him when he offers one out] Oh yeah, I think you mentioned that. Something about how now it's weird to not have a quirk.

[She accepts his offer with barely a moment to consider it, gently latching on and cautiously glancing around at their surroundings now that she doesn't have to keep her eyes glued on him.]

Yeah, and it's been getting more and more rare every year! I can't remember the last time I met somebody without one.

That's kind of like the opposite of how it happened in my world. [The trees around them start looking pretty gnarly. Also there's giant mushrooms now.] People started lising resonance. Though it's something that people who have a natural affinity for it can redevelop with enough exposure! Can people develop a quirk?

[willynilly]

Not exactly, nope. If you're gonna have a quirk, then it's something you're born with. It might not show up right away, and sometimes they change a bit as you get better at using 'em, so I guess they can sorta develop over time? But if you don't have one by like, age 4, you won't ever get one. That's what all the studies say.

[It's just sort of become common knowledge, hahahaha NO ONE WOULD EVER DEVELOP ONE LATER right]

I guess that makes sense, if it's like a part of your body- whoa, did you see that?! [JERKS TO A STOP AND POINTS!!!] There's a chipmunk up there and it's like the size of a cat!

[willynilly]

[Good thing they were going slow, or she'd have crashed right into him. Instead she stops alongside him and follows his finger, her grip on his arm tightening.]

...Ah! It's so big! I've never seen one that big before! Amazing!!

[It's kind of terrifying but also omg c u t e]

Is everything here gonna be that big!?

Oh man, I hope so. [REMOVES PACK] I'm gonna go climb that tree and see if it'll let me pet it. [this guy is like the fucking crocodile dundee]

[Hey, she's not gonna question it, maybe he's some kind of animal-whisperer like Kouda.

She lifts her hands up, smiling brightly.]

Want me to send you up there?

[monolike]

Oh boy, yeah I do! [GIVES HER A DOUBLE HIGH-FIVE!!] Launch me, right that way! [oh man he's already floating, heheheheh this is so fun]

[willynilly]

[She giggles, watching him float slowly up towards the branch near where the chipmunk is perched. Its tail is already twitching, acknowledging his presence but probably confused to see a floating person. Hopefully that'll be enough to keep it from fleeing.]

Okay, get ready! You need to catch that branch when I let go!

[She gives him an extra couple of seconds, just in case, then presses her fingers together.]

Skill release...! Catch it!

Wah- oof! [Sorey is a spry thing so he catches the branch with room to spare, though he does scare the bejeezus out of that poor chipmunk, who scrambles up higher on the trunk and chitters angrily.] Ohhh sorry, sorry little guy! [Sorey waves down to Uraraka.] Are you coming up too? I can lower a rope down!

[Ochako looks torn for a moment, then she hastily shakes her head.]

N-no, um... I've been practicing, let me do it!

[She gives her cheeks a couple of pats, both to urge herself onward and to make herself float, though she wishes she'd thought to bring her boots with her. Sure makes getting down a lot easier. Up she goes! Don't mind if she looks a little green.

When she gets high enough, she reaches a hand out to him, flailing a little- she's too far to the side to catch the branch.]

[omg look at her go

She's drifting up, kinda looking a little sick but sticking with it! Really give it her all and drifting...kind of too far from the branch. Sorey straddles the branch and squeezes his legs around it before lunging to the side to grab her and pull her over to sit on the branch. He's also gonna preemptively rub her back because hooboy, she looks like she's about to blow chunks.] That was great! You really hung in there, huh?

[willynilly]

[Ohhhhhh god she feels urpy now. Give her a minute while it passes. It would suck to barf in the middle of an adventure.]

I've... h-hah... I've been practicing...!

[Hurp. Breathe deep, breathe slow.]

[lmvcdso g o d. he's never been around someone trying not to barf before. is it supposed to make him feel like puking too? there, there.]

Seems like some rough training. Want some water?

[Hrgghhh okay. Okay, this is much better. At last she sits upright, accepting a water bottle and chugging heavily for a bit. When she finally lowers it, she exhales with a laughing huff and offers it back to him.]

Ahhhh, thank you! I feel great now.

You're okay? Good, good. Man, that seriously does a number on you; I wonder why it's so different between doing it to other things and then to yourself? [Sorey pops up into a crouch, tucking away the bottle in his travel bag and navigating back toward the trunk like he was born in the trees.]
