[Misty stops and looks down at him, suddenly serious.]

Might wanna be careful about who you say that too. The dragon part I mean.

[wolfehawke]

Why, do you think Daenerys would try to adopt me?

[He keeps heading up, choosing his branches a bit haphazardly. They creak just a bit under his weight.]

[mistyday]

[She can't help but giggle a little at that.]

Well that wouldn't be so bad.

[But then she gets serious again.]

It's just... there was that dragon attack last month.

[wolfehawke]

I know, I was in prison and missed it. I'm devastated.

[He pouts at her over it. He wanted to fight the dragon!]

[mistyday]

[She frowns at him, not falling for the pout at all.]

Someone died tryin' to protect us.

[wolfehawke]

[He stops climbing at that, looking up at Misty with a much more serious expression.]

Who died? I didn't hear about anyone dying.

[mistyday]

Don't know if it's my place to tell you who, but.... I was the one who brought her back.

[wolfehawke]

[If he'd still been climbing he might have slipped at that.]

Brought her back? How? Necromancy?

[mistyday]

Not like zombies. Like...

[Lazarus. But that won't mean anything to him.]

She's back fully, mind, body, and soul and I ain't got no control over her. All I did was give her her life back.

[wolfehawke]

So... Creation magic.

[He swings up on a branch to sit instead of climb, back against the trunk with his head tilted so he can look at her.]

You know, Anders is a very accomplished healer. I've seen him cure things that would surely kill anyone, diseases and poisons. I've even seen him snatch people from the jaws of death, me included. I wouldn't be sitting here talking to you without him. But even he can't bring people back from the dead. No one can do that, not the Mortalitasi or anyone else that I'm aware of.

[He threads his fingers through his hair, smiling a bit.]

That's an impressive skill, to bring a soul back to its body in truth and not just animate it.

[Impressive and a little frightening. Just how powerful is Misty?]

[More powerful than she even realizes, as she's barely been trained.]

It's a rare ability in my world too. It's why Myrtle thought I was going to be the next Supreme - that's the leader of our coven. But that clearly ain't the case.

It's a rare ability overall. I've only heard of one case outside of what Atroma can do with us here, and I think that's maybe more technology than magic? I'm not sure, but at the very least that's a group or a system, not one person...

[He rubs the back of his neck.]

Still, I feel a lot better knowing you have that power than knowing they do.

You're not scared of me?

[wolfehawke]

The day I'm scared of a fellow mage because of what they can do instead of their intentions is the day I should be locked up and given the brand.

[He gives her a wry look.]

You brought someone back to life. Wholesale, not to just control them as some puppet. Misty, that's not only incredible but quite selfless. So long as it's you using that power for good, I don't see what there is to be afraid of.

[mistyday]

[She ducks her head and smiles. Wolfe almost never fails to make her feel appreciated and loved.]

I wish I'd had someone like you around when I was growing up.

[wolfehawke]

That's... heh.

[He doesn't blush, but instead adopts a bit of a bashful air, looking away and rubbing the back of his neck.]

That's part of the point. I try and see things from other people's perspectives because I didn't get a lot of that when I was young. My father was... he had a great sense of humor, but he was more adamant about what he wanted me to be than what I wanted, my mother and brother didn't understand at all, and it wasn't like I could be myself around anyone in the villages we lived in. Too dangerous. I really just had my sister to relate to, and even then she and Carver were always closer, I think. I mean, it makes sense, being twins.

[He shrugs.]

I just remember wanting to talk to someone so badly about everything and not have them judge me for it, but I never thought I'd get that. When we fled to Kirkwall and I got involved in the mage rebellion, I learned that even if I never had that, I could at least be that for other people, you know? They had it far worse than I ever did, it's the least I could do.

[mistyday]

You're doing a good job, at least with me. I've never felt more at home than I have on a damn spaceship and that's in part because of you.

[And Stefan and Obi-Wan and Makie... and oh, so many others!]

If you want... you can be my brother too. I know I'm not Bethany and I never will be so I ain't trying to replace her but... I never had a brother to lean on, but if I did, I'd've hoped he'd be like you.

[wolfehawke]

I've already adopted you even without your permission, but it's nice to hear it.

[He chuckles warmly, tone a bit thick for the emotion in it. A moment later and he's started climbing again with renewed vigor, making it up to Misty's level in record time and heading on past.]

Now are we still racing or what?
