[she clears her throat and turns her attention back to the screen]

Um, h-hi, I'm Winnie and - okay, being in space is kind of really cool, but - could someone answer a few questions for me? A-And tell me how I can go back home? I really can't stay here, I was kind of - busy.

[what an understatement. She looks around again, then turns the camera to the pudding desserts]

And if anyone wants some of these, I'm on the - Bishop? I don't, uh - I'm not really hungry.

Finrod has smaller ears than I do, but they are still quite pointy. And the man without a shirt-- he is made of mana, though I do not know if you can tell. He's some kind of elemental spirit.

Oh. [were this any other time, she'd be excited about elves, but that can be for later, when she's less everything about being kidnapped and all]

[Finrod tries to greet most of the new arrivals anyway, but seeing such a young face and hearing the trepidation in her tone made him seek her out all the sooner. Call it an over-active brotherly instinct. So it's not too long before he comes around a corner, giving her a friendly smile and a nod hello.]

You should save them. [Gesturing at the pudding desserts.] You will tire of packaged protein soon enough.

[but wait, wasn't she just—? She blinks a little widely at him, because he seems far more friendlier in person. At the greeting she gives an awkward little wave]

No, i-it's okay, I don't mind sharing them.

Humans are only one of many sapient races on my world. Are you... from Earth, perhaps?

I'm from Earth, yeah. [and that's a thing she never thought she'd ever say] We have different races, but they're all human. The - things like me, we're supposed to be a secret.

[. . . she has to ask] What kind of races are there in your world? A-Aside from elves and humans.

[He's rather accustomed to people being startled when they first meet him (the whole elf prince thing and all), so he really doesn't think much of Winnie's quick little shift in expression, at least, not yet.]

Generous to your fleetmates already. We are lucky to have you aboard, it seems. [Yes, he's teasing a little, making it sound like she's offering to share some great treasure instead of just pudding. But there's a seed of sincerity under the playful exaggeration. He appreciates people who think of others, no matter how small the circumstance.]

You called yourself Winnie, did you not? I am Finrod Felagund- [He actually dips into a little half-bow here, bending at the waist. Old habits die hard.] -currently serving captain of the Bishop. It is not easy arriving here, I know, and I simply wished to tell you that I keep my door open, as a rule. If you should need anything, you must not hesitate to ask it of me; if I do not have the answer, I likely know someone who will.

[Ah. He remembers. His months in a post-apocalyptic London taught him that being different was terrifying and wrong and it made him subject to the occasional abuse. While many transports could blend in, he could not. There is no changing the color of his eyes.]

[And that's honestly about the nicest he's been all conversation. At least he's beginning to thaw somewhat. See, it never takes long.]

Orcs, trolls, and goblins are anywhere from blue to green, and the tauren look rather bovine in appearance, while the pandaren look like bears. Draenei are a little like blue tauren. Night elves have purplish skin and silver eyes, and blood elves look like... this. [He gestures vaguely at his own face.] There are undead humans, and ogres... And of course, there are gnomes and dwarves, and they look very human as well. Just... shorter.

[He talks altogether way too fast. Sorry Winnie.]

[Finrod's expresssion turns colder at the refusal and he tosses his head arrogantly. Gemini's taken Finrod's noble bearing and twisted him into a preening aristocrat. Doubtless he'll be angry...she doesn't care.]

In this ship it is customary to do as the Captain commands. Now, I see that you are listed with an engineering augment and there is a great deal of work to do, you will get started at once! My room requires remodelling.

All they say is it's some TV show that the [she can now witness the joy of a pony doing air quotes with his hooves ] 'worlds are watching'. That's...pretty much it. They say the winner gets to go home, but there's no set rules about how someone is supposed to even win in the first place.

[she's relaxing a little, too - or at least, she isn't stumbling over her words as much. She's used to fast talkers, though, so she listens closely, and if there's a little bit of excitement in her voice, well. She's a literature nerd]
