Who: Allen Walker
Broadcast: Video
Action: SS Blue Fish
When: Today
[For those who've been here awhile, a familiar scene comes onto the feed. Allen's standing behind a table in the Blue Fish clinic. The lab itself looks more Halloween-y than usual. There's a jack-o-lanterns and a few Halloween decorations. Timcanpy is behind him on the shelf, where what looks to be a little cape and fake vampire teeth over his already sharp teeth. Okay.]
Hello everyone! If you don't know me, I'm Allen Walker, one of the medics aboard the Blue Fish. Nice to see you all again.
Just a few announcements today! We'll be holding our bimonthly blood drive next weekend. The blood donated is kept for medical emergencies that require blood transfusions. In other words, we use scientific methods to help someone whose lost a lot of blood. If you donate, we'll gladly pay you!
If you're interested and are over the age of 16, please fill out the form attached to this video. [And what do you know, it's there] If you're interested in volunteering, please let me know. Vampires and similar beings interested in volunteering need to be able to have restraint around blood and will not be allowed to sample the blood. The blood drive will be held on the SS Blue Fish, as usual.
And as always, there will be cookies to anyone who volunteers or donates.
Moving on, a few other minor announcements. [He puts on a pair of reading glasses and starts to read off a sheet of paper:]
Over the next few weeks, there's a number of Earth holidays of a rather...macabre flavour: Day of the Dead, Bonfire Night, and most popular- Halloween. So if you have Earth crewmates carving pumpkins, dressing up, showing a fascination with skeletons, ghosts and other things like that, gouging on candy, burning effigies- that's why. Please don't be alarmed.
If you drink blood or enjoy your meat rare, I've been notified that the meat from the planet can give rather...odd side effects if not cooked thoroughly. Side effects include decreased in good decision-making skills and increased urges to write poetry. Please show caution.
Finally, there's been many reports of some people feeling some sort of...presence with the planet. [for a second, he looks uneasy about it, but it leaves after a moment] We're still looking fully into it, and I'm not sure what it means. If anyone has any more information about it, it'd be appreciated.
And that's all for today. Thank you everyone. Have a good day.
[He waves to the camera before it gets shut off]
[OOC: As usual, the blood drive will be handwaved!]

[There is still a LOT of stupid things he puts into his mouth, okay. A lot.]
Great! Hopefully nothing will go wrong enough to need a waterbender healer, but you never know. It can get pretty ugly at the cookie table.

[Because all the stories did not prepare her for the real thing, okay. She had some of Aang's memories and these were just nothing like how he is now. Clearly he grew up a lot or maybe he still did crazy things as an adult and Aang wasn't around to see it.]
Cookies? Do I get cookies as a payment system or something?
[She's joking, of course. Honestly she loves the excuse just to hang out with the folks on the Blue Fish. Allen and Sokka especially had a place in her heart here, in the short time she's gotten to know them better.]

[No face it Korra. He died because he licked something he shouldn't of. Just accept it]
Ha, cookies are usually for people who donate blood- to make sure they get food in them so they don't faint. Volunteers can have some as well, though.

[Good grief... her image of Sokka is totally shattered.]
Oh. Well- I'd donate blood but well... I'm not sure if it would come out weird or something. I uh- I kind of have a spirit tied to my soul? That's where the Avatar gets their power. We resurrect and her soul is bound to ours.

A spirit tied to your soul that resurrects?
[THAT SOUNDS...FAMILIAR. He rubs his chin]
Hmmm...interesting. I've heard of cases like that. It might come out differently or it might not. It depends on the nature of the binding and how deep it goes. I could run some tests though on a blood sample, if you'd like.

Yes, she was with Aang too.
[Hang on she's trying to think of how to explain this to you Allen.]
Well, it was kind of like - she lived separately from humans with the other spirits - when she met the first Avatar they kind of got off to a bad start because he accidentally freed an evil spirit that threatened to end the world... well they worked together and to give him more power to fight, they merged their souls using spiritual energy from spirit portals that connect our world to theirs. They sealed it after so that humans and spirits could live peacefully away from one another so there'd be no more fighting.
[Heh. And then she kind of opened the portals...]

[It sounds so epic, such a grand scale. Almost like a fairy tale...]
...Now I really want to test your blood! [NO TIME FOR AWE, TIME FOR SCIENCE]

I-uh- sure? What do I have to do?
[Suddenly nervous???]

[She wishes she knew more about these things :| They only just got cool stuff like radios and movies as she's grown up, alright.]

Finally, I'd probably probably take a closer look at mapping your DNA and comparing it to other DNA, to see if there's unusual differences due to you being the Avatar. Of course, that's purely based on a hunch- it's very possible it'll be perfectly normal.
But none of this you really have to be there for, don't worry.
no subject
[Omg Allen are you calling her an alien?]
I think.

He offers a smile though.]
Don't worry, you're still you- no matter what the tests say. And clearly you're in good health, so there probably won't be anything wrong- even if it's different.
no subject
[But she's not actually mad, so no worries there.]
