It's Halloween soon. That's fine, I like Halloween, but there's something important everyone needs to know about pumpkins.

Turnips are better.

Speaking of which, I need some turnips. Does anywhere even sell them?

But I'm serious. The tradition did actually start with turnips, at least on Meridian. But since we apparently have the same holidays, it's not a huge stretch to think it's the same elsewhere.

I wish I had turnips to give you so you can prove it. Have you looked down on the planet? I'd say check the waystation too but that place is kind of dangerous and not worth the risk for turnips.

There's probably some weird history behind it on other worlds, like with Christmas, but on Meridian it's a day when the spirits supposedly come out and magic comes alive. People have fun dressing up in costumes, kids go door to door for candy, and there's usually a lot of parties and food.

A Halloween party expects you to dress up as something else. Like a ghost or vampire.

I don't normally eat the turnips, but I was thinking of pumpkin soup. Just with turnip, potato and maybe parsnips for flavour and to thicken it up a little, and some cream.

A harvest soup, I guess.

What do you usually do with turnips? We can see if there are any down here. Renart and I are looking into the large ship wrecked down here. There's rather a cornucopia of vegetables. I can bring a few things up for you, if you'd like.

A few things. This time I wanted to make lanterns, but the ones in the Special Zone came in all sorts of weird shapes so I collected them.

I'm afraid the only things in odd shapes we've found down here are the pumpkins. A number of the plants seem to be larger than they should be, though. Where would I find turnips if I wanted to fetch them? On a vine?

I should think me fetching you the vegetables to make your soup would entitle me to having some. I'd like something atop that. And if it's a root vegetable, then you're going to need to describe what the plant above looks like. Does it have flowers?

The fact I lived in Between makes finding something you like better than good manners easy to twist. Don't push your luck.
