You are cordially invited to Cisco and Winn's Not-Too-Terrifying Halloween Costume Party!

[ on the night of the 28th, the lecture hall will open its gates though it'll look remarkably different. Winn and Cisco would have decorated the corridors leading to it with Jack-o'-lanterns made from the pumpkins gathered at the little patch on the planet. The hall itself will be similarly decorated, along with other traditional scary Halloween decorations made from paper and fabric ( don't ruin the little paper spiders, they took hours to make! ). There will be music from various times of Earth-1 and Earth-3, so don't be surprised to find Lady Gaga playing alongside the Spice Girls! Feel free to make requests or otherwise, just show your skills on the dance floor!

There will be a bar run by Nami offering free sodas, though you'll have to pay for your own alcohol ( remember, don't drink and fly! ). Alongside the bar, characters will find a few tables offering candy from Earth-1 won by Cisco at the game room with a little sign reading TAKE ONE, LEAVE SOME FOR OTHERS and quite a lot of space chips and protein dips as well as various candy from all over the different planets ( cleverly hoarded by Winn! ) and a large selection of pumpkin pies and pumpkin treats. Characters will also find a line leading to Cisco's trusty ice cream machine, though it'll only offer peanut butter flavored sorbet.

At the corner of the hall there will be a karaoke machine with a little sign-up sheet. Characters could sign up solo or in groups and list the song they'd like to sing. Keep in mind though, the entire hall will be able to hear your rendition of Sexy and I Know it!

Adventure-seeking characters will be able to follow signs reading HAUNTED HOUSE and reach a large hall that was turned into a maze by large cardboard blocks painted black or covered by dark fabrics. Making it out of the maze won't be too hard and the maze itself won't be too frightening but will be mildly startling. It'll include some nifty engineered animatronics of witches, scarecrows, scary clowns and skeletons as well as holograms of ghosts! The song featured in the invitation will also be heard here, on repeat. It's a good break from the dancing and for some private conversations and moments.

Remember, costume are mandatory! you don't want to be caught by tonight's pumpkin kings, do you? ]

[Shirley breathes a sigh of relief when they're done. The apology wasn't exactly the proudest of moments, but it is something she definitely feels was warranted. Still, something more pleasant would be welcome.]

Um...are you still okay with showing me how to dance?

[ It was certainly exhausting, but Shirley was of course right that they apologise and he offered to make ammends. Still. That is over now.

He smiles back at her. ]

Of course! Mind, I do not not know the ah... 'modern' dances, I suppose.

That's all right. I don't know any at all to begin with.

We might as well start with the waltz then. [ Maglor smiles ]

The easiest, most masic of dances.

[Basic and easy sounds good. Shirley nods and straightens herself, preparing to concentrate on learning.]

How do you start?

[ He smiles at her and explains ]

Essentially, the waltz step could also be called the box step, because you are moving in a 'box' pattern, so.

[ He counts aloud as he steps - forwards, side, back ]

One and two and three.

[Shirley imitates with care and picks up the movement quickly, if not gracefully just yet.]

That's it. [ Maglor smiles and nods ]

When you are dancing with a partner, your steps are the partner to his or hers - if I come forwards, you go backwards, if I go back, you come forwards. Want to try?

[Sounds doable, so Shirley nods determinedly.]

Yes, please let me try it!

[ He smiles back and offers her his hand, showing her how they stand ]

Your hand on my shoulder, there, like that, and in my hand here, and mine on your hip. Nice and slowly now, I'll step back, so you come forwards. Ready?

I am.

[Times like now Shirley feels acutely aware of the growing she still has to do. With the height difference between them easily over a foot, her angles are awkward but she manages to get herself in position at least. Functional if embarrassing.]

[ Maglor says nothing about it, but he starts the count aloud for her ]

Alright then, one one, yes? I'll count us in. One and two and three and... One!

One and two and three and...

[Shirley mutters under her breath as she goes along with the pattern. She's following them correctly, but the awkwardness in her position means that her steps are still a little clumsy. She can feel it, too, which is frustrating.]

That's the way - now try and relax. The beat does not change, the steps are the same. One, and two, and three, around, and around.

[ Maglor encourages her gently ]

[Shirley takes a deep breath to try and relax herself, then tries again. Her steps come a little more smoothly this time, not perfect yet but with more grace than before.]

Was that better?

Yes, well done! [ Maglor smiles at her ]

Once you are happy with the basic step, you can expand it out. But saying that, the steps do not change overly. So relax! Let your body move with the beat.

Okay. Let me try again.

[The next time she's definitely improving, getting more comfortable with the movement and the music. This is not lost on Shirley, and she seems much happier for it.]

You learn very quickly. [ Maglor smiles at her approvingly ]

[Also because Shirley's used to getting a crash course in politics while rewriting her own job description, but anyway. Let her be proud.]

[ He chuckles ]

Maybe so! But tis always a pleasure to teach a quick learner. Now you have the basic steps down, do you want to try something more?

Um...maybe one more thing?

[That should be doable.]

Hm. Well, we've learnt to move back and forth, shall we try moving around the room?

Okay. How do you do that?

Well, you see how we are currently moving in a box? the trick is to break the box - thus!

[ He tugs her with him, moving slowly as he steps back and to the side, each step moving them in a line away from their beginning position ]

[Shirley stumbles when they first start moving, a combination of the awkward height difference and her own surprise, and her steps are cautious when she regains her balance. She's thankful that Maglor is taking it slow, though, and starts to catch on to their path and rhythm after a moment.]
