[ on the night of the 28th, the lecture hall will open its gates though it'll look remarkably different. Winn and Cisco would have decorated the corridors leading to it with Jack-o'-lanterns made from the pumpkins gathered at the little patch on the planet. The hall itself will be similarly decorated, along with other traditional scary Halloween decorations made from paper and fabric ( don't ruin the little paper spiders, they took hours to make! ). There will be music from various times of Earth-1 and Earth-3, so don't be surprised to find Lady Gaga playing alongside the Spice Girls! Feel free to make requests or otherwise, just show your skills on the dance floor!

There will be a bar run by Nami offering free sodas, though you'll have to pay for your own alcohol ( remember, don't drink and fly! ). Alongside the bar, characters will find a few tables offering candy from Earth-1 won by Cisco at the game room with a little sign reading TAKE ONE, LEAVE SOME FOR OTHERS and quite a lot of space chips and protein dips as well as various candy from all over the different planets ( cleverly hoarded by Winn! ) and a large selection of pumpkin pies and pumpkin treats. Characters will also find a line leading to Cisco's trusty ice cream machine, though it'll only offer peanut butter flavored sorbet.

At the corner of the hall there will be a karaoke machine with a little sign-up sheet. Characters could sign up solo or in groups and list the song they'd like to sing. Keep in mind though, the entire hall will be able to hear your rendition of Sexy and I Know it!

Adventure-seeking characters will be able to follow signs reading HAUNTED HOUSE and reach a large hall that was turned into a maze by large cardboard blocks painted black or covered by dark fabrics. Making it out of the maze won't be too hard and the maze itself won't be too frightening but will be mildly startling. It'll include some nifty engineered animatronics of witches, scarecrows, scary clowns and skeletons as well as holograms of ghosts! The song featured in the invitation will also be heard here, on repeat. It's a good break from the dancing and for some private conversations and moments.

Remember, costume are mandatory! you don't want to be caught by tonight's pumpkin kings, do you? ]

[ her smile shows an appreciation of the wordplay, however prepared, and she shoots back with a bit of her own: ] I can carry a great many things, Natasha. A tune was never one of them.

[ then, to call off the attack dogs: ] Don't fret. We'll dance. He owes me that much for talking me into mucking about with this Halloween silliness in the first place. [ he owes her for that, and a lot more. it's damn well overdue. ]

Karaoke is rarely about carrying a tune.

[Natasha isn't in a rush to get behind the microphone either, though. She might have been bold with her costume choice, but actually getting on stage... she could do it.

But she's not in a rush.]

And I don't fret. I show concern.

[ concern. of course. peggy dips her chin -- half a nod. ] Concern, is it? Well -- I ought to thank you for your concern. Because of it, I'm here as one half of a couple's costume tonight.

[ an almost-queasy look. ] A phrase I never thought I'd utter. Couple's costume. Dear Lord.

I can't say I pegged either of you for the type, but I'm glad. You both deserve it.

At least I'm accustomed to costumes. [ a mild shrug. the couples part might take some work. ] And I was prepared to march in and sigh over how tacky Halloween is but -- it's actually a little charming. A nice break from the monotony.

The tackiness is part of the charm.

So I'm learning. [ a lopsided smile. ] I suppose it's the side-effect of seeing so many Americans in the fleet. Not that I'm complaining -- it isn't as though I wouldn't be subjected to just as many, back home.

[ she's made her life in america, after all. ]

I can sympathize with that. Though these days sometimes I feel as much American as anything else.

[With mixed feelings, but that wasn't something she was ready to get into with Peggy. She pivots gently.]

You do have to wonder why with all the people in all the time in all the Universe, there's so many Americans.

Exactly. [ she's happy enough with the pivot. they don't need to tread there. ] And they call the British imperial. They're bloody well colonizing space.

Still compensating for not being the first in space.

[Joking, clearly.]

Or one more sign we don't get brought here randomly.

I'll give myself a headache trying to spot a pattern in all of us, I think. [ peggy lets her eyes scan the crowd. all she knows is that, more often than not, the passengers are from the future. or else another world entirely. ] Between different worlds and alternate worlds. It's a question for a Stark, and not for me.

[ she downplays her own scientific understanding. she is no egghead, certainly. but she's no layman either. ]

[That gets a chuckle out of Natasha. This one isn't a question she'd put on Tony—mostly because she doesn't think it's a science question. Her instinct says it's intentional.

But if Nick were here, she'd love his take.]

You have to wonder how something like this even starts.

With a failed experiment. [ dry-like. ] Either that, or an incredibly successful one. But it's hard to imagine someone ever setting out to do this on purpose. An awful lot of groundwork, one suspects, for entertainment's sake.

Hard to say. If they already had the technology for it for some other reason, then the formula is pretty basic. Take a bunch of interesting people, put them in a box, shake the box from time to time and see what happens.

[mucked]

[ she doesn't like to admit how it chills her blood -- to imagine the technology that brought them here might be akin to, say, radio-waves: once a breakthrough, but now so common-as-dirt that it can be used for thrills and dramatics.

dryly: ] War of the Worlds, all over again.

Now streaming twenty-four hours.

My apologies -- although I suppose it is an appropriate day for being maudlin, isn't it?

Or creepy. Still... It's less fun when it's not pretend.

You don't have to on my account. But the problems will still be there tomorrow if we take an evening for ourselves.

[ the problems will still be there a month from now, peggy decides, but that's only the mild apathy making her feel that way -- it's difficult, to have been here for over a year and see so little change in the larger picture. ]

Then maybe, [ she puffs her cheeks and admits ideological defeat, ] you ought to teach me a few of those modern dance moves -- so I can start figuring out how to take the evening for myself. As you put it.

Bold. [Natasha smiles at that, an honest smile.] If you're up to that, how can I say no?

I don't know what it's like in the future, Natasha, but when I'm from? The truly demure rarely make it far. Man or woman.

[ her career was forged in a time that called for boldness from all quarters. ] Mind you, I rather doubt the philosophy was often applied to dancing.
