You are cordially invited to Cisco and Winn's Not-Too-Terrifying Halloween Costume Party!

[ on the night of the 28th, the lecture hall will open its gates though it'll look remarkably different. Winn and Cisco would have decorated the corridors leading to it with Jack-o'-lanterns made from the pumpkins gathered at the little patch on the planet. The hall itself will be similarly decorated, along with other traditional scary Halloween decorations made from paper and fabric ( don't ruin the little paper spiders, they took hours to make! ). There will be music from various times of Earth-1 and Earth-3, so don't be surprised to find Lady Gaga playing alongside the Spice Girls! Feel free to make requests or otherwise, just show your skills on the dance floor!

There will be a bar run by Nami offering free sodas, though you'll have to pay for your own alcohol ( remember, don't drink and fly! ). Alongside the bar, characters will find a few tables offering candy from Earth-1 won by Cisco at the game room with a little sign reading TAKE ONE, LEAVE SOME FOR OTHERS and quite a lot of space chips and protein dips as well as various candy from all over the different planets ( cleverly hoarded by Winn! ) and a large selection of pumpkin pies and pumpkin treats. Characters will also find a line leading to Cisco's trusty ice cream machine, though it'll only offer peanut butter flavored sorbet.

At the corner of the hall there will be a karaoke machine with a little sign-up sheet. Characters could sign up solo or in groups and list the song they'd like to sing. Keep in mind though, the entire hall will be able to hear your rendition of Sexy and I Know it!

Adventure-seeking characters will be able to follow signs reading HAUNTED HOUSE and reach a large hall that was turned into a maze by large cardboard blocks painted black or covered by dark fabrics. Making it out of the maze won't be too hard and the maze itself won't be too frightening but will be mildly startling. It'll include some nifty engineered animatronics of witches, scarecrows, scary clowns and skeletons as well as holograms of ghosts! The song featured in the invitation will also be heard here, on repeat. It's a good break from the dancing and for some private conversations and moments.

Remember, costume are mandatory! you don't want to be caught by tonight's pumpkin kings, do you? ]

[had Winn not had plans to shove him in a costume, he would've suggested something a little more traditional - or even just suggest they remake their X-Men uniforms. That counted, right?]

It probably just came up. She likes to talk about home and her family. [it's nice; he likes learning about people's homes, and Kara and Winn's is the world he knows the most about]

I don't blame her. Her family is pretty interesting. [ Raven might do the same if everyone on the fleet didn't already seem to know Charles personally. Most of the time her mentioning it comes hand in hand with a you're Charles' sister?

Slightly frustrating.

For now, she brightens up a little, tilting herself close. ]

Are you going to ask me to dance?

Mm, they are. They're good people. [slightly frustrating, yes, but Hank likes that it's something else exclusive to their world - not something everyone else already knew. Just like his and Raven's relationship.

He blinks down at her, and - god. They haven't gone to a dance together before, have they]

Uh - if you . . . want me to?

[athru]

I can't say much on the others, but... Kara is pretty great. [ Winn is, too, obviously, but they're not related. Raven can only assume Kara's cousin is as kindly and as sweet as she is, otherwise they wouldn't be supers together, would they?

His slightly surprised look makes her expression turn wry, and she leans closer, wrapping her arm around his waist. ]

We don't have to, but it would be nice.

[beathach]

Mm, she is. [no, but he knows that Winn is as much family to Kara as her cousin is. And that's pretty much what he assumes about her cousin, too.

He at least looks apologetic, but it isn't hard to tell he's two steps away from flustering into an escape]

I'll slow dance with you? I'm just - I can't dance very well. [or at all]

[athru]

[ Once, that might have made Raven feel sour and prickly - knowing what she did about Kara and Hank's almost thing. Instead, all she can do is shake her head and lean close, tilting herself up to give him a quick kiss to the cheek.

She has nothing to worry about. She and Hank are in love, and she has no reason to ever feel like she needs to act like a jealous girlfriend. ]

I can't either. I only ever danced when I was little, and Charles always lead.

[beathach]

[there's absolutely no need for that. Never was, honestly. And it worked out in the end; he's good friends with Kara, and they're together, and nothing can ruin that. He leans into the kiss with a faint smile]

Charles knew how to dance? I don't believe it. [he's teasing, of course] I learned a little bit at the masquerade, shortly after I got here. I think that was the first time I ever really - dance danced.

[athru]

Of course he knew how to dance, look at him. He probably knew how to waltz before he could walk.

[ But... He can't do any of that, now, and Raven's quick to shake her head and move along. There's no point letting sour thoughts get the better of her, especially not when they're supposed to be at a party. ]

I didn't know there was a masquerade here. I'm sure you were very popular. [ Which is actually said quite honestly, because Hank is charming and not at all threatening, so of course people would want to dance with him. ]

[beathach]

Waltzing? I can believe that much.

[but he moves along as well. It isn't as awkward for him, but he's also spent the most time with Charles of all of them.

He huffs a noise and shakes his head at what she says, though, the very idea just - ridiculous to him] I wasn't popular at all. It was on that moon we were at when you got you here - and it was loud. I didn't have the serum at the time.

[athru]

It was even better when he'd had a few.

[ Raven shrugs it off, focussing, instead, on the idea of Hank trying to dance while big, blue and beautiful - and it inspires a soft smile on her face. ]

That must have been uncomfortable. [ She frowns, lifting a hand to touch his cheek. ] It's not too loud now, right?

[beathach]

I can imagine.

[he shifts his weight from foot to foot, the memories of the masquerade a little - not uncomfortable, but awkward, maybe. It had been a tiring night, between dancing and keeping the music tuned out and everything else, not to mention he'd gone on his first date in years.

He purses his lips and shrugs, even as he tilts into her hand a bit] It wasn't bad, per say. Just - exhausting.

It's not bad now, no. I can tune it out better nowadays - especially like this.

[athru]

[ Raven's fingers brush over his hair and down to his cheek before she nods her head. If she thought that Hank was really uncomfortable or it was too loud she'd tug him elsewhere and distract him somehow, but she believes him. He wouldn't be here if it was too bad, even if she wanted him to be here.

Tilting herself up, she draws him close for a quick, soft, kiss. ]

Good. I suppose the serum has some perks, then.

[beathach]

[he leans in for the quick kiss, and reaches up to push some of her hair behind her ear before he smiles. He knows she'd pull him out of he was having issues - but that was years ago, too, when he'd spent more time under the serum than without]

It does have its advantages. Though even without it, I'm better about it now.

[athru]

[ Tilting her head up, she softens a little, relaxing into the touch of his hand. It makes her feel warm, and the way that they're slowly getting more and more comfortable with idle intimacy in public makes something soft flare and relax in her body. ]

Does that mean you'll come and dance with me?

[beathach]

[he's still incredibly conscious of it, and if a little of it is because of who they're dressed as, well. He doesn't want to make it awkward for anyone else, either.

He sighs a little bit and quirks a wry smile]

Yes, I'll dance with you.

[athru]

[ Raven cares less about the awkwardness and she focuses completely on Hank, shifting to drop her hands to his, tugging him close and softening. She doesn't want to make him feel like he's on edge or pushed, but...

She wants to dance, and when he agrees she beams, leaning close again. ]

Yes! Let's go -

[beathach]

[far be it from him not to make a few sacrifices now and then to make her happy - and sacrificing what little dignity he has is easy to do.

He can't help but smile at how pleased she is, and he leans down to kiss her nose before nodding to the dancefloor]

You'll have to lead.

[athru]

I think I can manage that.

[ It's easy to settle herself down, nose wrinkling before she grins and tugs Hank out towards the dancefloor. It doesn't take long for her to wrap her arms around his neck, and then she softens, smiling. ]

All you need to do is sway.

[beathach]

[he lets himself be tugged, and even if he's very conscious of all the people around them, he doesn't tense up nearly as bad as he would have, once. His arms go around her waist and he huffs a bit, amused]

Swaying I can do.

[athru]

[ Raven just smiles, urging Hank to focus on her and no one else. It seems to work - they can, sometimes, get incredibly wrapped up in each other in the kind of way that means no one else in the world matters at all. ]

See? It's easy. You're amazing.

[beathach]

[he is completely focused on her - and her feet, just to be safe. But he does glance up at her at what she says and huffs, fond amusement in his tone]

I'm not amazing. I'm barely doing anything.

[athru]

You're here, and you're dancing with me, and it's wonderful.

[ Even if he huffs and acts all amused, Raven knows he appreciates it too. ]

[beathach]

I could say the same thing about you.

[of course he appreciates it]

[athru]

I'm definitely not doing anything.

[ But she does move a tiny bit closer. ]

[beathach]

Neither am I, and yet.

[he might be gently urging her even closer than that]
