[ on the night of the 28th, the lecture hall will open its gates though it'll look remarkably different. Winn and Cisco would have decorated the corridors leading to it with Jack-o'-lanterns made from the pumpkins gathered at the little patch on the planet. The hall itself will be similarly decorated, along with other traditional scary Halloween decorations made from paper and fabric ( don't ruin the little paper spiders, they took hours to make! ). There will be music from various times of Earth-1 and Earth-3, so don't be surprised to find Lady Gaga playing alongside the Spice Girls! Feel free to make requests or otherwise, just show your skills on the dance floor!

There will be a bar run by Nami offering free sodas, though you'll have to pay for your own alcohol ( remember, don't drink and fly! ). Alongside the bar, characters will find a few tables offering candy from Earth-1 won by Cisco at the game room with a little sign reading TAKE ONE, LEAVE SOME FOR OTHERS and quite a lot of space chips and protein dips as well as various candy from all over the different planets ( cleverly hoarded by Winn! ) and a large selection of pumpkin pies and pumpkin treats. Characters will also find a line leading to Cisco's trusty ice cream machine, though it'll only offer peanut butter flavored sorbet.

At the corner of the hall there will be a karaoke machine with a little sign-up sheet. Characters could sign up solo or in groups and list the song they'd like to sing. Keep in mind though, the entire hall will be able to hear your rendition of Sexy and I Know it!

Adventure-seeking characters will be able to follow signs reading HAUNTED HOUSE and reach a large hall that was turned into a maze by large cardboard blocks painted black or covered by dark fabrics. Making it out of the maze won't be too hard and the maze itself won't be too frightening but will be mildly startling. It'll include some nifty engineered animatronics of witches, scarecrows, scary clowns and skeletons as well as holograms of ghosts! The song featured in the invitation will also be heard here, on repeat. It's a good break from the dancing and for some private conversations and moments.

Remember, costume are mandatory! you don't want to be caught by tonight's pumpkin kings, do you? ]

And yet I imagine it still can't be helped. [ how can one person sound both stern and indulgent at once? ] I confess I know a thing or two about taking on more than one's fair share of the work.

The Atroma don't shanghai slouches. That's for certain. Or - rather, very few slouches. I'm certain there are some among us. For balance.

[ overachievers and busybodies let everyone else worry about balance, she supposes. ]

I have a balance - I work with my friends, perfect, problem solved.

Oh, I see. So that's the simple path the balance, hm?

[ -- she almost laughs again. the solution is so endearingly naive it's almost hard to dismiss it. ]

All things being equal, the simplest solution is the best.

No -- you see, I've found that working with a load of idiots and wankers has the trade-off of keeping me sharp.

[ she's not arguing. at least, not with a smile like that. ]

Working with the best does that for me, I'm always trying to keep up, to learn from them.

[ he was a lot lazier back home because there was nothing truly challenging about his job. ]

[ the war felt a bit like that -- at times. but afterwards? well, she knew she deserved to be there. it's everyone else whose opinions were dysfunctional. ] They're not all bad eggs at the SSR, admittedly. Only most of them.

[ he struggles with feelings of inferiority, no one should learn from him. ]

[ sometimes, when she's feeling particularly playful inside a topic, her nose crinkles. this is what happens now. ]

Luckily, I've no doubt I can -- handle them. [ so to speak. ] That's the soft underbelly of a chauvinist for you: they tend to underestimate everyone who isn't exactly like them.

I wouldn't put my money on anyone taking you on. Well. Kara, if you were like arm wrestling or something, but that's not fair...and she's definitely not a chauvinist so you'd be allies anyway.

Definitely not fair. And also well beyond my jurisdiction -- I'll leave the enhanced individuals to sort each other out, thanks.

Probably for the best - it's way more fun to watch, anyway.

[ it had been bad enough trying to tackle the winter soldier when he'd been atroma-jacked. some mornings, she still feels a stiff ache from the ordeal. but she isn't here to gossip about bucky. or herself. so! ]

Do you have plenty of opportunities to watch her fight?

[ peggy's never met the woman, really. but she's certainly heard of her. ]

[ yeah that topic would definitely be a downer. he's yet to meet the man so the incident is the only impression he has of him.

the incident where his girlfriend was injured and a close friend was horribly injured - the sight of kitty with her head covered in blood and that of wrath immobilized in her bed are not going to leave his head anytime soon. ]

I usually don't get to watch fights - unless it's on TV or something - [ which is both heartbreaking and great cuz it means he's not usually in harm's way but also - that he doesn't get to see her in action and she's so cool. ] but I got to see some badass training!

The recorded versions never quite hold a candle to real life, do they? [ mild. she certainly doesn't begrudge him his desire to stay safe. ]

They really don't. She's -- [ he pauses because no words would do her justice ] indescribable.

[ he doesn't have superpowers, he doesn't even have enough training to hold his own against his trainer. he has to keep safe. ]

[ describing her. because there's a virtue in ascribing words to that which we think we can't discuss, or so peggy decides. tremendous as they are, the superheros of the world are still just women and men -- human, or otherwise. letting them defy description only undermines that concept. ]

I've never met her. I'd like to know more.

[ he has no words that could make anyone truly understand what kara means to him. yeah, supergirl is amazing, but he never fanboyed her the way he does superman. between her two identities, it's kara that's really his hero. ]
