1st Gunshot;; [Video & Action]
Who: Carl Grimes & You!
Broadcast: Fleetwide
Action: Marsiva & Red Fish
When: 10/28
The Marsiva
[ The broadcast opens up with a loud, echoed thump, followed by video at a strange angle. The camera faces the bottom of a bunk in the Hospitality Deck. A pair of legs swings over the side, feet touching the ground. After a moment, the communicator is picked up with another few seconds of noise and a young face comes into view. After a moment, the feed cuts of.
It comes back a few moments later from one of the other cameras aboard the ship. Carl is walking cautiously down the hall, his back to the wall and a broken piece of something in his hands. (Sorry, Marsiva.) It’s clear he’s expecting an attack from somewhere. Rounding the corner, he drops the broken piece of ship and the video picks up another person- a woman. ]
Maggie? [ Aw, hey, it looks like they know each other! The fans are going to like that, right? ]
The Red Fish;; Post-Shuffle
[ What up, Red Fish? You just acquired someone with a maintenance augment! Hey, that supply closet wasn’t there before, was it? How about those nifty little space roombas? Nice. Carl is still trying to adjust to this crazy new place after being in the walker-fied shitfest that has been his life has been the past two years. It’s weird being around unfamiliar people in an unfamiliar place- space aside. How is everyone okay with being kidnapped, going about normal business?
He just doesn’t get it.
Come meet the strange kid in the sheriff hat that’s stuck with you. Carl can be found in various spots on the Red Fish: the bunks, as empty as they are, it’s odd having his own room, but the bed is comfy enough, and the blankets are clean. The kitchen, investigating that weird protein and drink machine or chowing down on that weird congratulatory ‘pudding’. Shut up, it’s not...terrible. He can probably even be found roaming the halls, trying to get used to the ship. It’s not really working too well. Being cooped up like this is definitely new, and he misses fresh air already. ]

No. Wanted to get a look around, first.
[ He gestures to his makeshift club on the ground. ] I don't know what that was. Looked easy enough to break.
no subject
You might want to hold onto that just in case.
[You never know - there could be walkers in space?]
no subject
Didn't plan on letting them have it back, anyway.
[ Oh god please don't let there be space walkers.. ]
no subject
[Just don't go breaking more stuff. Let her take the fall on that one. She wants to look out for you, silly.]
What have you found so far?
no subject
Nothing helpful. There's a big area with nothing but windows. Nothing but stars for miles.
no subject
[She's being sarcastic, of course. There's nothing 'thoughtful' about any of this.]
no subject
[ Not that they had an idea where they were most of the time at home.. There were occasional city signs and road markers, so it helped a little. But this? They could be fucking anywhere.
He's quiet for a minute, chewing on his lower lip in thought. Carl glances to Maggie. ]
How do we get back?
no subject
[Sighing, she rests her chin atop Carl's head as she pulls him in for another hug. Honestly, she needed it more than he did right now.]
I don't know. I wish I had the answer to that.
no subject
[ He allows himself to be wrapped in another hug, his arms going around her middle. She can have as many hugs as she needs.
It's not an answer he really wants, but it's the one he feared. How are they supposed to know if their family is okay? They're expected to.. what? Go about life like nothing is wrong? ]
It's okay.
no subject
[Honestly she hated how high stress this situation was. It was just a good thing that Carl was being so level headed about it right now. That helped ground her more than anything. You could point a gun to the kid's face and he'd be cool as a cucumber if need be.]
What do you say we get somethin' to eat from those kitchens. I didn't stop to poke around. Still not sure I trust it but we can't just starve ourselves.
no subject
[ They have to. Carl wonders what they're missing right now, what will happen when they do go back. Something in the back of his head supplies that things will be fine, but it's unfamiliar and new. He's also a little disturbed at the sudden information that he knows he never had before.
He'll freak out once he's by himself, but right now he has to stay strong for Maggie. It's easy enough to shoulder it until he's alone. Carl nods. ]
Food's good. I'm starving.
no subject
Maybe we can take some supplies for back up, just in case.
[They had looted for food before so this wasn't new to her by any stretch of the imagination.]
no subject
Might be good.
[ Feeding their faces first is a must, though. Once they're in the kitchens, Carl's attention goes immediately to the odd dispenser-looking machine. There are bowls and plates nearby, so maybe that's the sign to start there. ]
no subject
[She's mostly teasing him, but still she's setting about getting something to drink from the machines while he explores on his own. Hot tea for her and probably soda for him would work, right? It's been some time since they had anything that good and easily accessible.]
no subject
There's another one of those machines with a bunch of options. ]
Soft-solid or liquid-gel protein? Gross. It has flavors.
no subject
[Do they not even have eggs and bacon around here?? Come on...]
no subject
Wheat solid and cheese-flavored gel.. It's.. kind of like mac and cheese? I guess?
[ He looks into the bowl that both had been dispensed in, holding it out to Maggie. ]
You try it, first.
no subject
Well, I guess it's better than Daryl's possum or snake meat...
[She's going to take one for the team, she guesses. You owe her big time, Carl Grimes. Taking the bowl from him, she sits down and stirs the cheese-gel a bit, hoping it will help the flavor. Not long after, she forces down a bite.]
Not appetizing but it'll do. It's better than nothing.
no subject
[ A lot better to stomach than dog, for sure. But you've gotta do what you've gotta do, right?
He watches her intently, wrinkling his nose at Maggie's reaction to the concoction. ]
That's not encouraging. Think we should try others?
no subject
[Does she even want to know? Excuse her while she takes another bite of her "mac n cheese". Hey, she's hungry and food is food.]
no subject
[ He'll put on a brave face and dispense some chicken protein solid and teriyaki gel. The vegetable solid on the side doesn't make it better.. ]
It..smells close. I guess? [ Taking a breath, Carl gathers a spoonful, shoveling it into his mouth. The texture is really weird, but the taste is pretty similar. ]
Better than possum.
no subject
This isn't so bad.
[Being here is what isn't so bad. She's still worried for Glenn and the others but having a moment to just do something normal is nice once in a while - as normal as eating fake food is, anyway.]
no subject
Want some?
[ It's weird they can do this one, normal thing without threat of walkers invading, or other groups trying to screw things up.. ]
no subject
[Sticking her hand in the box, she grabs a handful and sets them on the counter beside her own bowl of food.]
Wonder if their dessert is just as weird. Find any in those machines?
no subject
[ He uses one of the crackers as a scoop for his weird meal. It's not the worst thing they've probably eaten. ]
