[Maggie has found herself a quiet corner with a glass of iced tea and the first thing she can find resembling food she recognizes. No 112 oz. can of pudding here!]

Can anyone answer a couple questions for me? I'm still gettin' used to this whole 'you're kidnapped in space' thing. First: I'm looking for my husband but haven't heard from him nor seen him. Though I guess if we're both kidnapped that'd be a stupid thing to ask for.

[Seriously, how does she even go about solving all this? From just scrolling on her device people seem fairly normal and not in absolute distress. It's really throwing her off.]

Second: I'm missing a few things that should have been on me when I got here. I suppose I have our lovely captors to thank for that?

[Look, she just wants at least her pocket knife, ok. :| If she can't have the husband, give her a weapon.]

I looked at the list of names that's here. Nobody else that we know. But it could be lying.. I don't know.

It could be.

[Still it makes her heart sink into her stomach. This wasn't the first time they had been separated but it never made it any easier. Unconsciously, Maggie has her fingers around her wedding ring, twisting it. As if the feeling of it could remind her that he's still out there somewhere.]

I'm sorry your dad ain't here. Or Judith.

[ Even though the facts are very clearly drawn out with the weird augment and the information on the network, Carl doesn't trust it. They've all been fooled too many times to believe something at face value.

His eyebrows furrow and he shakes his head. ]

Someone needs to take care of Judith-- and I don't want her here.

Yeah, I know. I'm not sure I'd be happy with Glenn here either.

[Because there was no sense in having them both trapped here. Still it hurt. It was always painful going through things like this. It made her get her hopes up if she allowed it to; that they'd find each other again, that they'd be okay. All that did was make her think of Beth and that was an even worse thing to think about right now. The last thing she needed was to eventually come undone in front of Carl.]

How ya doin' over there? Making friends?

[She grins, hoping that changes the subject. He'd been shuffled off not long after she'd arrived. About a day at least. They'd gotten that one day together and that was enough for her. Still it was frightening to wake up alone, only to realize he wasn't on the Marsiva and she still had all these questions.]

Dad would go nuts here.. [ Nobody needs Rampage Rick. ]

[ Being alone hurts, especially knowing you've been left behind somewhere away from home. Not that either of them had any solid roots in place to call home, it traveled with them in their screwed up little band. ]

I'm okay. [ Carl offers a wry smirk. ] My ship has three captains.

[ Not really making friends, exactly, but he's seen a few of his crew mates before retreating to his room. ]

..I have my own room.

[She just gives him a look as if to say 'hey now, don't be talkin' bad about your daddy, young man'. Really, he's right. They don't need that. Frankly his behavior lately scared her. Maybe Glenn and some of the others might not have been out there too long but Rick certainly had been. He was starting to slip. He was starting to lose himself. Maybe Alexandria was the fresh start they all needed? She wanted to believe that.]

That's somethin' at least. Gives you a place to go, to get away from it all.

[Because she already feels overwhelmed being around all this cleanliness and calmness, compared to being out on the road for as long as they had been. Not having to keep moving was making her turn over too much in her head. At least with Carl here it was easier. She had him to focus on. Now all she had was Glenn to think of, among other things.]

[ He shrugs a shoulder in response to that look. Everyone has seen his dad enough to know that he's faltering. Don't get him wrong, Carl still loves him as much as it's possible, but he also knows Rick isn't perfect. Losing his mom has been hard on them both. ]

Yeah. Pretty empty, but there were some clothes in a locker. And lots of blankets. Door had my name on it, so I guess they're mine.

[ Honestly, it's overwhelming being around so many new people. They acted happy to see him and welcoming..it's.. bizarre. Kinda funny, too. A few years ago, he would have been trying to fit in as the new kid. Now? Hell no. ]

Maybe we'll get lucky and I'll get sent to the same ship.

[She hopes, anyway. The last thing they needed was to stay separated.]

Any luck getting your hands on a new knife? Other weapons?

[Because fuck whoever's listening in on that one. They would prepare themselves and they would protect themselves. If anyone got bent out of shape about it... well, they could stick it up their ass.]

There's a bunch of weapons in a locked storeroom. I didn't recognize any of them.

[ Weird, futuristic weapons they would probably hurt themselves using without proper training. ]

Took a steak knife from the kitchen when nobody was looking.

Figures it'd be locked.

[She sighs, shaking her head. The knife was a start, though. No one would miss it.]

We'll figure somethin' out, don't worry about it for now. What's it like over there? Three Captains an' all that, must mean a lot of butting heads.

[Or it was a bit like how they'd started off in the Prison with everything done by counsel and group vote. Rick seemed to be beginning to do away with that, not that she blamed him. He was in survival mode and frankly so was she at this moment.]

Haven't met the security officer yet. Dunno who's in charge of it.

[ Maybe he'll be able to sneak a weapon or two once he does. ]

You say that like you aren't doing the same thing. [ Can't bullshit a bullshitter, Maggie. ] I dunno, I didn't really meet them.

[ Meaning he poked around a little and then retreated to his room when it got overwhelming. ]

[Damned if he didn't hit the nail on the head, though. She nods, understanding. When it had been the two of them on the Marsiva for a day they'd kept to themselves.]

Did you get any sleep?

[She regrets giving in to his insistence upon doing the first watch. Damned Grimes boys are so stubborn. It was definitely a familial trait.]

I don't really see how it's different, but okay. [ He'll let you think it is, even if it's really not at all. She'll see once she gets to her ship.. how odd things are. Everyone going about their daily business like they aren't all kidnapped. Shit, there had been fanfare and pudding welcoming him. What the hell kind of place is this? ]

A little. [ Door locked, sitting up with his back in the corner. It's going to be hard getting used to the ambient noises of the ship. ]

I mean it though. We aren't being attacked by cannibals or walkers. I'm not saying let our guard down but this is different, isn't it? You're still safe there. I hope.

[She has to otherwise it's only going to make her more anxious waiting to see where she'll be sent to herself.]

I couldn't really sleep either. I dunno when I even fell asleep.

[It had been restless for her too. As it was, night and day felt mostly the same when she looked out those windows. Frankly, she wouldn't be surprised if he'd had to witness her having a nightmare or two about Beth or Glenn. Some nights she still couldn't get her sister out of her head, when she let her guard down. It wasn't surprising, honestly. The whole group was well and truly traumatized to varying degrees.]

Just, ah.. just be safe, okay? Until I get there. I'll come find you. No ship is keeping me put for long.

Not yet. I've heard things about how this augment thing can change you. Make things happen.

[ Best case scenario, people get hurt. Worst case scenario? People die. ]

I'll be fine. Not much you can do from up there, right? [ So he'll have to be okay. ]

[That certainly sets off alarm bells. The last thing she wants is to leave Carl alone with a cannibal or worse.]

Just - keep a weapon on you. If you can figure out how to steal a gun that you can use, do it. Keep it handy. I will find a way to get to you.

[No way in hell is she going to let them stay separated. As soon as she could come off the Marsiva she'd go to him.]

I don't plan on not at least having a knife. Hope I can get something better soon.

[ What he wouldn't do for a gun right about now.. ]

I don't think anybody on the ship is dangerous.

No, but it's like you said - somethin' could go wrong with the augment and then where would you be?

[Maybe that's just the paranoia talking. Either way she would feel infinitely better if she was there with him.]

I'll take care of myself, Maggie. Mostly they're just...weird.

[ It's not said like it's a bad thing, but definitely something he's never come across before. ]

If you mean by the insanely nice people who've talked to me so far? Yeah, it is a bit weird. No one's panicking. No one's trying to find a way to leave, that I can tell. Though, I'm still on the Marsiva. You've got a better view of things from there.

It's the same down here. They're all going through the day like this is normal. I don't like it..

[ Then again, he's like his dad. He can't seem to relax. Not when everything is so bizarre. ]

Maybe that's how they've learned to cope. To put up a front. To distance themselves from the truth.

[She's already learned how to do that since things went badly in the beginning. It didn't change how lonely she'd become, until Glenn and the others arrived.]

People... they get lonely and want to find somethin' good to hold onto, no matter how or where it comes from. From the sounds of it, there's people who've been here a long time. Months... to a year at most, probably.

I don't want to be here a year.

[ He's already worried about his dad and Judith, he can't see that ebbing the longer he stays. Neither of them can be here an entire year.. They have lives back home and people to look after.

It's not the sort of front Carl wants to put up, that's for damn sure. ]
