[welcome to the Red Fish, the ship that always looks ready for Halloween anyway.

while today is a popular Earth holiday, it's also Zhas' birthday, and he has probably mentioned it to everyone on board in an unsubtle way over the last few weeks. there are a hilarious number of jack-o-lanterns around the ship, showing off skull-face carvings of... varying quality. thanks, Syeira!

what's in store on this spooky night? HILARITY, probably.]

[heeeeeey, how's his best buddy?

on the one hand, Zhas hasn't done anything particularly damaging yet. on the other hand, the night is young by their standards--and while Coil may not be drinking a lot, Zhas certainly is.

he doesn't have a drink in his hand at the moment, but that's just so he can chatter-sign at Coil the moment he catches him: 'is there something going on with you and Asuka?']

[he has only been drinking enough to dip into tipsiness, but he still does a doubletake like he hadn't been able to focus enough and catch those all those words. the open-faced staring that follows makes him look much more intoxicated than he is, really.

the sign he gives is one of those vague, abstract motions that basically amounts to 'what??']

[well, Zhas looks a little surprised that Coil looks surprised. isn't it obvious? he gestures between the both of them, on opposing parts of the room, before he explains, 'I saw you talking together. you both haven't talked in... a while...']

[he hopes Zhas is drunk enough to miss the fact that him taking a sip from his cup is totally to stall for time and cover up any embarrassing reaction that might show up on his face. the clarification narrows down exactly what Zhas had meant by the question, but it's still not one he wants or had been expecting to talk about.

finally, hunching his shoulders into a hanging shrug, 'we had a fight.']

[even if Zhas was not normally apathetic to Coil's signs of discomfort, he certainly doesn't seem to care about it now. rather, he digs in deeper, leaning in a little despite how neither of them are actually speaking out-loud.

'is that about... that thing, months ago?']

[having his embarrassment picked at would be too much. but this, he can deal with.

his one eye rolls a little, and that's all the answer he gives.]

['...seriously?'

funny, how he can convey that pause with just a gesture.]

[he shrugs hard--looking very much the age that he hasn't truly grown out of--and glowers down at his cup for a minute.

he's gotten harangued for that incident from more than one side since it's happened, so he still can't help but get defensive about it, even around his one ally.]
