[McCoy is hardly settled, but at least he presents a good front. He's rearranging a few things to his liking, without much thought or regard for permission to do so -- or thinking of anyone else on this particular boat who might have some call to be running the medical bay.

It's just familiar and this is what settles his mind.

He looks up the knock and sets aside a small bottle as he straightens.]
Hello. Can I help you?

[He straights a bit at the introduction; years of Starfleet experience has practically groomed him to come to attention at the mere mention of superior officers. (But he's also not a huge fan of strict adherence to chain of command. Come commanders are idiots.)]

I suppose asking permission to come aboard is a little late, Captain. [It sounds off, to be calling this slip of a girl by 'captain.' That's been reserved for Jim Kirk for too long.] It's good to meet you, Captain Daenerys. [Full title? Full title.] I'm Doctor Leonard McCoy, Chief Medical Officer of the Enterprise.

Or, well. Of the Caprine now, I guess.

[He shrugs one shoulder. Yeah, Atroma does the ship assignments and, as far as he understands it, the captain of one of these little fleet ships is pretty much just a figurehead, if even that. Doesn't really mean much, aside from the esteem of crewmates. Even so, this isn't how they do things back home, figurehead captain or not.]

I'm not much of a party person anyway. Don't worry about it. [He then looks around the lab, nodding slowly.] Yeah, it's not quite what I'm used to, but I'll make it work.

That's... [He pauses, biting back the initial response. Unnecessary. There's nothing she can do anyway. There's no need. He's fine.] ... kind of you. I'll admit, I'm a little off-kilter right now, but... [Shrug.]

Heh, half my job back home is adapting to new and different situations.
