[The smells draw Furiosa to the kitchen. You leave something out in her world it gets cooked by the sun within a couple hours, but it definitely gives off a little different aroma than something that's been properly cooked.]

[ Cara hasn't gotten around to meeting the crew. It's not something she has experience in or comfortable with. ]

She used to live on this ship. Liked to cook, all the fresh fruit is hers.

[Excuse Furiosa, she's just going to reach over and tear off a bit of that meat for herself.]

I'm not much of a cook.

[ And she knows it, but she's not going to trust Atroma food. Warily, she watches Furiosa's movement but it's out of habit rather than distrust. ]

We had servants for that.

We were lucky if we had food, let alone enough of it to do anything with.

[The things have have been eaten in her world. :| ]

[She seems sated after one piece, though, and grabs herself a drink before settling back against the counter.]

Does luck factor in that much?

It did. Skill doesn't mean much if there's nothing around.

Skill still keeps you alive.

[ The idea that skill doesn't mean much makes her bristle. Cara doesn't believe that luck had anything to do with her fate. ]

Oh, it does. Absolutely. [Furiosa isn't dismissing skill at all, but acknowledging that sometimes it could benefit from a little help.] but it doesn't hurt for a little help wherever you can get it.

Help can quickly turn into hurt.

... and what happens when skill isn't enough?

Sounds like a deity to pray for. I don't hold much stock in that.

[Furiosa shakes her head.] It's not a deity. It's not anything you rely on, but you don't dismiss it when you get it.

I've never gotten lucky. Everything that I have, I fought and bled for.

I find that hard to believe.

[Furiosa isn't discounting Cara's skill at all, but she did find it unlikely that the other woman hadn't had at least one engagement that was one random moment away from disaster.]

The world isn't so predictable.

The world is incredibly predictable. Look at us. Men are the same. The world is the same. Simply because they are some minute differences doesn't mean anything has changed.

[Furiosa looks at her critically, a little challenging.]

Maybe where you came from. If that's the case, you wouldn't have lasted two minutes in the Wastelands.
